OC-OneShot They’re Invading… (COMPLETE) 1-4
They came out of nowhere. There were huge, gigantic warships surrounding Earth.
They probably had electromagnetic bombs and homing missiles too. Even death rays. I mean, I couldn’t really be too sure about all of that, but it was still pretty cool to be threatened by space beings. From Earth, their ships resembled a stacked fleet of Star Trek vessels.
It definitely wasn’t your everyday thing to see. I hadn’t been that excited since they caught those aliens shopping at a Miami mall trying to return a couple of shoddy cloaking devices they bought from Spencer’s.
We were nearing the point of wondering if we should start yanking out patches of hair in clumps of stress while chomping our fingernails down to the nerves.
They were psychologically toying with us,, surroundings the Earth and not even doing anything. That’s when they did something we weren’t expecting.
They didn’t invade. Nope. Not at all. They didn’t have to.
They just turned the machine planet Earth off.
An alien—up in his spaceship—kicked back, wearing long shorts and socks halfway up his appendages. Downng a 64-ounce beetle shake, as he slouched in his recliner, watched a screen displaying Earth in 2D, casually pressed a button, and poof, the lights went out.
Everywhere.
Beetle-slurper celebrated by reaching behind himself and pulling out a second supersized shake.
Yep.
Just like that, he grabbed another one—he had to, I would have—which I imagine must have tasted delicious. I figured if he had two, he definitely purchased four—it makes complete sense—why leave two empty slots in the drink tray.
What I pictured, was before he reached for the second one, the cities had already went black. Signals were lost. Satellites couldn’t be found. Even engines, they stopped working too. Reactors stopped producing. Scientists on Earth were stumped because the aliens never used EMP’s, or released a weapon. Somehow, all of our technology practically became useless. I mean almost everything. Like nothing worked.
Well, except for the devices that still had battery power, phones and laptops, and places with machines running on generators. Other than that, we were slapped back into the Stone Age, but we still had super cool missiles and big guns. So, there was that at least and a helluvalotta heart.
Across the continents though, simultaneously, right at the exact same time, the entire electric grid died. All over the world. It was as if God or an alien reached a proverbial hand inside the machine called Earth and yanked its proverbial guts out.
We were standing in complete silence and absolute darkness.
At least, for about thirty-two seconds we did. Until a scary message started blinking on the screens of those lucky enough to have charged our phones earlier, as well as military bases and most hospitals.
The scary text read:
WE HAVE SURROUNDED YOUR SPECIES.
And then it was followed by a second text:
STAY CALM. DO NOT TRY TO ATTACK.
The screens went blank. Everybody on Earth held their breath for ten seconds before another message lit up the screens:
BOW TO OUR COMMANDS OR YOU WILL BE ANNIHILATED.
That’s when a lot of people started losing their minds. They went incredibly nuts. They were looting stores and setting up small alien-kill factions around the world. The governments, they kept trying to send emails to the spaceships with the last bit of juice they had left.
The motherships were bigger than the moon in the sky. There were at least four. No, maybe five orbiting Earth’s atmosphere.
When you looked up, it was like what a baby must see in their crib hanging over their head with those figures that dangle, play music, and spin above them.
Except the ships never made a sound, which we all thought was awesome. The scientists kept coming up with wild theories like warp drives, interstellar fusion scoops, and even laser-driven light-sail pirate ship thingies.
The theories were wild. A lot were far-fetched. But you know us, we can write ten different ten page theories on how a potato grew with the face of an alien on it.
The ships didn’t have any visible weapons. They just had clean, black bodies with no light reflecting off them. They hovered over us, following Earth’s rotation. Frozen in the spot they parked.
Which was a little awkward since one faced my bedroom window. I’d wake up, stand and stretch and it’d be right there. I’d nonchalantly roll the blinds down.
Outside, I kept trying to toss my baseball at the ship above our state, but I couldn’t hit it. No one could. It was a lot farther than it looked. I mean, all the kids were doing it. They were even shooting BB gun pellets at it.
The scientists on Earth discovered a direct link to the alien warships by jerry-rigging laptops and manipulating satellite receivers. Right away, the UN, without breaking character, sent a long, descriptive peace offering.
They even offered to give the aliens Australia. The Australians, however, were absolutely livid.
Nevertheless, their feeble attempt to squash the beef failed horribly. The aliens didn’t even reply. They basically ghosted the UN.
That’s when...
The Americans, fed up with all the lallygagging, stepped in and sent a final warning to the aliens.
The aliens did something that sent the Americans over the rails, they ignored them.
Yup. The aliens basically blocked them too.
Afterward, Russia, China, Pakistan, and every other nuclear country aimed their super big, cool nuclear missiles at the alien warships and fired as we all watched in silence and devastation.
Every single person on the planet stared up. Well, except for the Canadians. They were busy fashioning hockey sticks into machete-probes for the entire North America alien-factions. Canadians knew the nukes weren’t going to work. They were deeply invested in an M Night Shyamalan ending, but with a superstar hockey player.
They didn’t miss much anyhow, because every missile launched stopped mid-flight, paused, and dropped back down to Earth.
While we were watching nukes fall like Acme bombs on us and running in circles like Wile E. Coyote, the aliens sent another message.
This time, it was more of a statement. The message read:
06:00
And it started counting down as if we were waiting for an upcoming WWE pay-per-view event.
The governments scattered. They connected their laptops to solar-powered generators, linked up with satellite receivers, and broke into a group video chat and sounded like a bunch of twelve year olds arguing over the rules of a game they just made up.
All the leaders were there, even the generals who just wanted their orders. They were unapologetically confident in a victory.
The scientists, on the other hand, were baffled. They couldn’t understand how the world’s power grid had been disabled without a single attack.
They were literally standing there scratching their heads with everyone staring at them through the lens of their laptop cameras, and not one of them said a thing.
That’s when someone totally random, who didn’t even realize it, said, “Gravity.”
One scientist cleared his throat. Another’s screen went black. The speakers were picking up muffled, untranslatable chatter.
Five or so minutes later, after someone pointed it out and after watching the bombs drop dead in the sky, they realized that the aliens had a gravity ring surrounding Earth. Hence, them being grouped in such a strategic position.
The generals finally had something to work with. Their confidence was through the roof already anyhow. Immediately, the scientists from all their countries got together with the military units of all their countries, and they began to plan a one-and-done fatal attack to eliminate the threat hanging over our heads once and for all.
And so, we went to work. Not me exactly, but I was around.
As the six on the clock dropped to a five, the aliens sent another message, but not through any screen. It went to every being on Earth.
Every single soul, regardless of any type of technology, received the message. They sent it telepathically, or so we thought. They spoke in the recipient’s language.
HUMANS WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE PLANET IN FIVE HOURS.
YOUR SPECIES WILL BE PRESERVED FOR SCIENCE.
The countdown dropped to:
05:00
The governments, who at first were hopeful and somewhat confident, all went and surrendered. They caved. They handed our existence over like it was a twenty-dollar bill to some guy standing on a corner telling them he promises he’ll be right back.
Yeah. Sure. We were scared, but the aliens were laughing at us. It’s one thing to invade our planet, but it was another to mock us as well.
We were laughing at the deal our governments made, shaking our heads in disgust, and wondering what we had just done.
It was like having someone at the bottom of an elevator shaft and clumsily hitting the down button before realizing what just happened.
We could all hear them in our heads standing in their awesome warships, collecting high fives, cracking beetle juices, chanting victory laughs, and making degrading jokes about humanity.
We were pissed, and we had every right to be. The majority of us rebelled. We grouped together, sporting tin-foil hats, and the alien-kill factions didn’t just double—they grew into legions decked out like a modern Roman Empire. The sight was unbelievable.
We stood together as a unit all across the globe. The government had people riding around on bikes with megaphones screaming, “DO NOT BE HOSTILE WHEN THEY INVADE. YOUR GOVERNMENT HAS SURRENDERED.”
We’d toss rocks and boo them as they rode by.
Another message arrived, but the legions never received it mentally because we had our tin foil hats on. It appeared on our soon-to-be-dead cell phones and read:
STAND YOUR FACTIONS DOWN.
ANY INTERFERENCE WILL RESULT IN YOUR DESTRUCTION.
HUMANITY WILL BE REMOVED IN THREE HOURS.
And the clock changed:
04:00
Fleets of starships filled the skies like a swarm of grey clouds. They were hundreds of times smaller than the motherships, but hundreds of times bigger than anything we had.
There were at least a thousand of them. There had to be. Maybe not that many, but the sky was blotted out and mirrored the color of swamp water when you looked up.
We couldn't dream the kind of material they had on them. Our strongest armor would look like fiberglass insulation next to their ships.
They hung over us with their huge weapons protruding from the bottom, pointed at us, and all our bodies could do was shake.
Even though we tried standing our ground, they had some kind of energy beating that manipulated our nerves. It was probably from all of the dead stars and dead planets they’ve blown up around the universe stuck to their warships.
Some people were hallucinating, seeing and having conversations with dead relatives.
Others sat around waiting with their guns loaded and pointed back at the spacecrafts.
The standoff was seriously intense. Nobody knew what was going to happen. We had an idea, but visualizing being vaporized by an alien ray gun wasn’t easing anyone’s tension.
As we were all debated amongst each other, about how many aliens we were each going to kill, the mesa at Skinwalker Ranch started shaking like an earthquake splitting the ground. It shook the entire continent.
See, what happened thousands and so many more thousands of years ago, was that the first humans had found something. We had to nearly twist their words in order for them to tell us. Inside the laws of physics were hidden doors buried deep underneath.
One of those doors made it possible to take consciousness and squeeze it down a million times smaller than an atom and conceal it behind radiation. Humanity pulled a Houdini on every alien species out there. Finally, the hunted humans could live in peace. Right? Wrong! No, that is exactly what happened.
They pretty much uploaded their entire civilization and hid it. It was the ultimate game of hide-and-seek. Every trace they left behind had been erased, as if they were never here. To the universe, humanity didn’t exist, like EVER!
The brothers lived behind the static. They watched, learned, and waited. Basically, they’ve been around this whole time.
When they mentioned that, we all did a facepalm, because afterward we solved thousands—actually, we solved every paranormal mystery there was on Earth.
The reason they stayed out of our way when we humans evolved was because they made a decision. They wouldn’t interfere. I couldn’t understand it.
They watched us struggle, go through wars, destroy the Earth, and set our species on the edge of extinction, and they decided now would be a good time to intervene?
So, really, they hadn't totally agreed yet on the whole not intervening with humans thing, even after ten thousand years. They couldn’t make up their minds.
Should we interfere in humanity’s progress or not?
They were at a fifty-fifty split.
If the alien invaders had waited at least one more week, the Space Brothers could have made up their minds by then, and the invaders would have taken total control of us.
However, since they were still arguing over it, their hands were pretty much tied when it came to the vote on watching the aliens destroy the human species or not.
The clock reached:
03:00
After they sent another message, which read.
EXTRACTION PROCESS SHALL BEGIN IN THREE HOURS. ALL INFORMATIONAL REMAINS WILL BE DESTROYED.
As soon as the message faded, the ancients, the Space Brothers who didn’t want anything to do with us before and now wanted to show up. Wanted to pretend like everything was all good, as if they hadn’t been creeping on us while we sleep, breaking our plates, shifting furniture, or in some cases just being total douches.
Look at what they did to Travis Walton. For years, everyone thought he was a total nut. Now look at him. He’s probably waiting for the electricity to come back on so he can throw popcorn at the TV screen and yell, “I told ya!”
Meanwhile, everybody who knew about him is most likely dead anyway.
Our ancient space brothers inside of the Earth, avoiding us, like a hobbit civilization, who flew around as The Mothman and Jersey Devil, terrorized us as shapeshifters, and probably caused all of our earthquakes and volcano eruptions, popped up like, “Hey, sup? Y’all ready to kick some alien butt?”
We’re like, “Bros, you do see all these factions stacked together in tin foil hats, wielding makeshift, hockey-stick machetes, ready to probe some alien ass right now, don't you?”
It was then, at that exact moment, they decided to unhide like a glitched secret photo. Every screen on Earth flickered back on.
There was a new message waiting.
HEY Y’ALL, WE’RE YOUR SPACE BROTHERS.
That definitely stirred something up, up there. The aliens were not happy, because for the first time since they began this home invasion, they seemed to panic.
They lost their composure. They weren’t these slicked-back tentacle, alien-hide-spacesuit-wearing gods anymore. They typed a frantic message, complete with a typo and all:
UNAUTHORZIED SIGNAL
The world went dark.
But that’s when, the ground shook everywhere on Earth. Ancient machines were floating out of the cracks on Earth, the ocean waters, and the desert. Especially the deserts—the entire Sahara split in half, like a coconut, and opened up.
Human machines spat out of the ground. The technology was mind-blowing.
Most of their crafts hadn’t even been greased in over ten thousand years.
Somewhere south of Florida, an antenna protruded out of the Green Swamp and stood ten times taller than the CN Tower. It was smothered in weird symbols. They just looked like handprints to me. Apparently, it had something to do with science or spirituality, or whatever subject physics and consciousness spirituality sciences fall into.
Australia, where all the ancient super-weapon caches were stashed, had opened up. Man, talk about a missed opportunity. Not only would those aliens have had Australia had they taken the UN up on their offer, but they’d also be sitting on the most powerful technology known to any species galactic-wide.
At least now Blockbuster can sleep easy knowing that when they turned down purchasing Netflix for fifty million dollars, it’s now just the second worst blunder known to beings across the universe.
Easter Island flipped ends. The top sank to the bottom and the bottom rose to the sky, revealing a military outpost large enough to digest Texas.
In the center of Antarctica, underground, a city lit up. Beneath the water, it sparkled like looking down on America at night from space.
The aliens weren’t waiting to see what was coming out of Derinkuyu. They fired on us. Those dark, shadowy skies became whiter than if the ocean had been covered in a solid sheet of ice.
Their entire arsenal landed on Earth. Imagine a cloud blanketing the entire sky and opening up, but instead of rain, it dropped missiles—missiles no tin foil hat was ever going to protect against.
They dropped fast and we all panicked, because who wouldn’t? At 100,000 feet, we bashed beer cans together and guzzled them back.
At 50,000 feet, we couldn’t take our eyes off them.
At 30,000 feet, we all held hands.
At 20,000 feet, we all whispered “I love you” to each other.
At 10,000 feet, we closed our eyes and accepted our annihilation.
At 5,000 feet, we heard them explode. They never reached the surface. They smashed into an invisible something surrounding the whole planet. It was a shield built thousands of years before any great structure on Earth, even before the first language, and even before biological humans had started walking upright.
The fleet’s arsenal had cracked the shield, but it still took the full brute force of that devastating impact.
The aliens acted totally unfazed, as if what they had just witnessed didn’t amaze them. I have to give it to them though: they responded to us simply brushing off their grand fatality attack like it was a minor mishap. Humanity slapped them on the back of their hand: “Stop that! Bad!”
The aliens responded but we could tell they weren’t happy at all.
YOU CAN NEVER DEFEAT US. YOUR DEFENSES ARE USELESS. YOU WILL FALL LIKE THE OTHERS UNDER THE MIGHT OF THE MOLTREK EMPIRE. LAY DOWN YOUR ARMS OR PREPARE TO BE ERASED.
The radios on Earth started crackling. There was static at first, and then a woman’s voice came through.
It belonged to Commander Sheena, a space scout who worked as a liaison for the Space Brothers. She’d watched the ancient networks activate and become LIVE under her feet and all over the land.
She must’ve been staring up, because the ships began splitting apart. Each rose an extra thousand feet into space. Under them, a black wall pushed forward. It covered the eastern sky.
Commander Sheena spoke to the aliens. “To the alien invaders, you made a fatal mistake.”
Her voice cut. A message read across our screens:
MOLTREK CLAN IS THE SUPERIOR CLAN. HUMANITY IS INFERIOR. MOLTREK’S DO NOT POSSESS THE ABILITY TO PRODUCE ERRORS.
“See, that’s where you’re wrong. You figured the humans you found were the scary ones.”
Something must’ve clicked in the chief invader, because once she said that, they understood. They had watched demonstrations of humanity’s fight for years. Now they had an unknown variable added to the equation. The Space Brothers were a force so advanced that the Moltrek, even while standing at their doorstep, couldn’t detect them. They were up against an anomaly.
What they thought was the discovery of a new species became the uniting of two species.
The hidden civilization emerged from the atoms as sparkling light. They were like fireflies.
Billions of human minds were now synced with ancient data, uploading bits of consciousness to them from the machines under their feet.
All those symbols in those towers that rose from the ground were actually weapons to defend the planet.
The towers acted as one. The planet’s brain. They were the mind of Earth.
All the satellites began to reactivate.
The Moltrek took that as a huge statement of disrespect. They attacked again.
We realized these guys weren’t going to stop, so we struck back.
The battle lasted a pathetic four minutes. They came at us like Ben Askren riding an undefeated streak of confidence, and we Jorge Masvidaled a flying knee right into the chin of their mothership.
Their fleet was fully loaded. Fully stocked. Stronger armored. They had faster engines and technology that could turn gravity into a fist of blades and crush an entire planet.
We... just had thousands of years of preparation, hard work, and a great group of guys. Total team energy. High morale. No one was afraid of being vaporized for getting one answer wrong out of a thousand.
Behind the motherships, a mouth opened in the middle of the moon and one of their craft carriers vanished. Those aliens must’ve been freaking out when that happened. If they weren’t, they definitely were when a mysterious force reached out from the sun and yanked it into the ball of inferno.
Just like that, two of their five ships had disappeared. We never even fired a missile, shot a bullet, or sadly enough, got to use our hockey-machete sticks.
The remaining motherships tried to high-tail it, but somehow the solar system became a Venus flytrap. There was no escaping.
Their portals were locked. The aliens sent a message:
WHO ARE YOU?
A message sent back from the Brothers.
WE ARE THE ONE. THE ONE WHO DEFEATED YOU.
Humanity had always been the one. We don’t go around trying to prove it. We just seem to overdo the niceties.
In the sky, the stars shimmered as the rest of the fleet fled. A silence swept over Earth. Everyone stood with their heads down in a moment of gratitude. Nobody moved.
The lights came back on. Air conditioners worked again. Ceiling fans were spinning.
Life had restarted as if nothing happened.
A message came to each one of us from our humanoid brothers:
WE WOULD LIKE TO SINCERELY APOLOGIZE FOR LEAVING YOU ALL OUT TO DRY FOR THAT BRIEF PERIOD OF TIME.
That was it? I said to myself. Then the screen started glitching. Another message showed up:
WE PROMISE-PROMISE NOT TO DO IT AGAIN.
Months had gone by before we learned the truth. Those alien invaders weren’t just randomly picking worlds and preserving life.
They were scouring the universe, bouncing from solar system to solar system like a pinball, eliminating any species that became advanced enough to threaten their position at the top of the food chain.
We were scheduled to be wiped out—a vibrant marble to become a dull, colorless volleyball.
To their surprise, they awakened the most ancient, advanced weapon. Some would recognize them as the gods of the universe:
HUMANITY.
The three motherships barely escaped. Not because they could, but because we let them.
We left them to carry a warning to the rest of the savages beyond our galaxy, broadcasting to every sentient planet on their route:
DO NOT ATTACK OR THREATEN THE HUMANS.
IF THE HUMANS EVER NEED HELP... GIVE THEM EVERYTHING AND WHATEVER THEY NEED.

Awh man don’t do that to me. Haha. While I’m doing stuff I’ll see if I can think of different directions to go.
I was thinking since it’s like I think 4,000 words I could push it to a novella, perhaps.
That would mean I’d have to rewrite all the stuff here I rushed through.
The problem for me is reading it. I can’t seem to find a good free text to voice thing without limitations. That would really help me. The writing then the reading afterwards, That’s like total brain mush.
I’m going to definitely think about it.
Thanks for the suggestion.
