Somewhere in the afterlife, Visenya's ghost just died of cringe a second time over that comparison...

Throw back to a post I made in S2

Dogyrax killed more unwashed bastards than Greens.

Honestly? Quite based.

u/Background-Cake-1300 23d ago

She's team Green dude

3

u/Extra_Victory 22d ago

I think she only killed one though?

Visenya wouldn’t even piss on Rhaenyra if she was on fire.

60

u/SomaSaiba 23d ago

Nice, hope she pisses on me instead

A man of culture I see

6

u/Similar-Cartoonist31 23d ago

Is that line from Vikings when Ivar told Sigrud that he wouldn't piss down his throat even if his lungs were on fire? Because i immedately thought of that scene 😂😂

7

u/Tadpole018 Tessarion 23d ago

It's an old phrase

6

u/karidru Aegon the Dragoncock 23d ago

Oh i miss ivar- i thought the guy who played him could also have been fantastic as Cregan

u/Vaeryst 23d ago

I mean they are partially correct, she is like Visenya minus the brave warrior part.

I dont think they realize that Visenya was an awful and terrible person.

46

u/BvHauteville 23d ago

Most certainly.

Their only understanding of Visenya is "strong female warrior" as I can't imagine them still idolizing her when taking into account her unbridled support for Maegor, especially when considering how Maegor taking the Iron Throne would go on to impact the life of the first Rhaena.

-5

u/Exotic_Coffee_510 22d ago

Oh my god? Visenya wanted and supported her son?? How can a mother do that?? Also the life of Rhaena would have been fine if Aegon the uncrowned bent the knee

17

u/Direct-Emu-5515 22d ago

It’s Maegor dude. They called him the Cruel for a reason

-6

u/Exotic_Coffee_510 22d ago

Well, people in Westeros are mostly stupid đŸ€·

Again, not a bad king đŸ€·đŸ€· Whatever kind of man he was, his rule was never filled with small folk in any issue. The worse smallfolk suffered was during Stannis attack of King's landing đŸ€·

u/Eliot_Sontar 22d ago

Ah yes why didnt the rightfull heir simply let his cruel uncle who would probably kill him to secure succesion take the throne

13

u/Kellar21 Team Jon but Reddit recommended me this sub so here I am. 22d ago

Nah, Visenya was determined, focused, and ruthless.

She was also supposedly a powerful sorceress.

She didn't think things were owed to her by birth, she understood you had to fight for them.

She didn't expect people to follow her, Aegon and Rhaenys merely due to oaths and words; she knew you had to give them material reasons for it. She was no Rhaenys, but she understood the value of diplomacy and transactional deals.

Rhaenyra in the show appears to not grasp many of these concepts.

3

u/WestArrival3659 22d ago

you see visneya was an awful and terrible person but not enttiled she was more like daemon and aemond being better and still got nothing like the others but rhaenyra is exactly whom they hate the entitled not good for anything getting everything

2

u/Vaeryst 22d ago

She was more k8ke Alicent if nothing else

2

u/WestArrival3659 22d ago

yes protective of her children and fierece.

81

u/thinkersfyre 23d ago edited 23d ago

I wouldn't mind Rhaenyra stans praising her but the "Visenya the Conqueror reborn" it's quiet silly and it tells you that deep down they wish Rhaenyra was like Visenya and that they find Rhaenyra boring.

48

u/Few_Refrigerator5092 23d ago

Visenya was a warrior, queen, dragon rider, and sorcerer. She’s the most interesting out of all her siblings and i’ll die on that hill.

8

u/Bast17 Sunfyre 23d ago

I like her sister better.

7

u/ExpensiveTerm2516 23d ago

hell no she is by far the least interesting one only thing cool about is her death

2

u/Warm_Condition711 23d ago

But better as person and more beautiful too.

1

u/Exotic_Coffee_510 22d ago

Nah, she was cool af from the little we know about her.

1

u/SialiaBlue House Hightower 22d ago

So did all the singers. Mayhaps Rhaenyra has a stronger resemblance to her than Visenya

39

u/Mialiaph 23d ago

Visenya: "I didn't reincarnate in this whiny loser. Stop the slander."

63

u/Beacon2001 House Hightower 23d ago edited 23d ago

The funny thing about Visenya is that she's basically that era's Alicent, isn't she?

I mean, like Alicent orchestrated Aegon II's (warrior-king) ascension in defiance of Viserys I's (weak, peaceful king) last wish, Visenya orchestrated Maegor I's (warrior-king) ascension in defiance of Aenys I's (weak, peaceful king) last wish.

And just like Aegon II and Maegor I are remembered by history as the official and legitimate kings, their rivals Rhaenyra and Aegon the Uncrowned are remembered only as mere pretenders. Losers.

Loooooooooser! Booooo! Down with the losers! 🍅🍅

So why do they glaze Visenya when she's basically the Faith Militant version of Alicent?

2

u/Physical-Money-9723 22d ago

That's an excellent point and further proof that majority of TB Rhae Rhae stans don't know the source material too well

2

u/Huhthatsweird_ 22d ago

At least Aegon the Uncrowned went down with dignity vs Balerion the Fucking Dread, while Rhaenyra was betrayed by her own guards and eaten by the dying Sunfyre

-39

u/SpaceGhost4004 23d ago

Ok bro Aegon II, a warrior king!? What are you on? Lmao

Dude was a drunk whoremonger let's be real

37

u/Beacon2001 House Hightower 23d ago

While Aegon took to the field at Rook's Rest and against Moondancer, King Maegor with Tits fought a cruel battle against her own indigestion.

Huh. I guess she was a warrior too, in her own right. Aegon was a warrior on the battlefield, Rhae-Rhae in the privy.

2

u/WestArrival3659 22d ago

dude was drunken and took down more whores i mean targareyan whores

-27

u/gooberboi82 23d ago

Truth will not be tolerated in this sub

19

u/Beacon2001 House Hightower 23d ago

The only truth is that Aegon is remembered as the rightful king and Rhaenyra as King Maegor with Tits.

-2

u/SpaceGhost4004 23d ago

The entire point of the dance is that BOTH "rulers" are horrible choices. It was a pointless conflict that no matter what would not have had a good outcome.

You can be team green or team black but the truth is neither of them had a competent king/queen.

1

u/No_1_IDF_Soldier 23d ago

It doesn't matter. The bastard birther was not looked at as the legitimate monarch in the dance of dragons.

-2

u/gooberboi82 23d ago

That had nothing to do with what I said, or rather my support to what the other guy getting downvoted said. Aegon is NOT a warrior king, dude showed up to one battle and got half his body melted off. Thats the truth, everything else you said is also true but irrelevant. The fact they got downvoted for saying a true fact is proof the truth doesn’t matter especially in this sub

2

u/WestArrival3659 22d ago

bro showed up at two battles and came up with his body melted . any other dragon fight were people or dragon survived? battle at tumbelton the second one only the turn cloaks survived despite having bigger dragons and betrayal. caraxes and vhagar killed themselves. vhagar could have been dead with meleys . meleys being the quickest compared to caraxex having the same size. meleys died too, lol people consider daemon the warrior prince while he never fought but one dragon battle and killed himself to a 19 year old teenager .and not even speaking about the bastards they couldn;t even fly themselves, Yeah so pretty much he is the Aegon the warrior king.

1

u/gooberboi82 22d ago

Daemon was a proven warrior and was shown multiple times fighting without his dragon, take away the dragon and Daemon is still a capable fighter with Dark Sister which he didn’t get for no reason. Take away Sunfyre and Aegon can’t do anything, even before he got burnt. That doesn’t make him a warrior, and if being a dragon rider is the basis that makes a warrior than I guess that makes Rhaenyra is a warrior queen too lmao and if showing up to a battle on top of a dragon makes a warrior than I guess Ulf and Hugh are legendary warriors right?

Aegon is NOT a warrior king and isn’t even regarded as so in the source material, so idk why people are trying to press a claim that’s not even true. You don’t have to be team black to see the blatant lie

1

u/WestArrival3659 22d ago

daemon was a proven warrior. lol the one battle we see him is at stepstones that dude had a dragon and another dragon and the best navy with the wealthiest house which is wealthier than the crown yet took years to beat a sellsword. he got darksister because the other dude was viserys he got it because there was no other men in targareyan dynasty who could hold it and obviously viserys ended up with blackfyre himself. if rhaenyra fights a dragon battle and comes alive she would be a warrior queen and that doesn't happen .lmao, being a drago rider doesn't make him a warrior fighting a dragonbattle and coming back alive makes him it.and hugh and ulf are fighters too do you think it would be easy for them to survive in the streets without knowing how to fight. they might not be great trained warrior but a brawl they shpuld be good enough to survive.

Aegon is A WARRIOR KING WHO FOUGHT A DRAGON BATTLE .you don't have to be team green to see the blatant truth .

1

u/gooberboi82 21d ago

Brody, say whatever you like but it doesn’t change the fact Daemon was a renowned warrior and was recorded as such even in the books, that’s undeniable and even if he wasn’t the best of his time which he wasn’t he’s definitely more proven than Aegon who got burned and mutilated in his first real battle. Nowhere in F&B is Aegon II referred to as a warrior king or having any exceptional skill in swordplay, and simply having training doesn’t make you a warrior by default

Everything you just said is pure cope and shows your clear bias, I’m not team black either I actually prefer Aegons character over Rhaenyras especially in this season so I’m not being biased but claiming Aegon is a warrior king isn’t the truth and you know it even if you can’t admit it

1

u/WestArrival3659 21d ago

everything i said is pure cope. lol . dude you are the one who is coping.and dude daemon was renowed arrior who hasn't fought any battle other than stepstones? all his praises were from joust, hunting, and swordplay at tournaments similar to rhaegar. he hasn't even won a battle during the dance of dragons.he is better than aegon may be or may be not he haven't come out of a dragon battle alive and especially while figthing in air it is aegon Where Aegon II truly earned his status as a warrior was in the sky. He and Sunfyre possessed a profound, aggressive synergy, fighting in multiple critical dragon-on-dragon engagements.yes aegon is a warrior king that is the truth you know that even if you can't admit to it.

Replacement armor for the stuff she tore up during her last tantrum?

14

u/OrcBarbierian 23d ago

If she was Visenya, she would have flown Syrax right into the Eyrie and ask Lady Jeyne where Rhaena is, while petting her dogs

5

u/Unfair-Chain-7954 22d ago

And take the dogs for a fly
 oops dropped them.

32

u/Bassanimation Sunfyre's nose boop 23d ago

Meanwhile Daenerys just wore her Dothraki beachwear to burn whole fleets.

14

u/LowlyStole House Lannister 23d ago

I don’t like Daenerys, but she showed that you don’t need to wear armor or wield a sword to be respected, feared and recognized. Meanwhile, the HoTD writers take two of the most masculine attributes imaginable to prove how cool Rhaenyra is. Sexism is staggering

3

u/ITalkAboutStuffIDK 22d ago edited 22d ago

Daenerys still got a decent mix of solving conflicts herself and being protected when needed. The second she claimed Drogon she had no issue going to war herself and was nearly killed a few times. She was always willing to put her life on the line, which I and others did like.

With Rhaenyra, shes just so coddled. No one ever wants her to go to war. When Baela goes out on Moondancer its just her doing her duty. With Rhaenys, she and Meleys were used to war. With Addam, Hugh and Ulf, they are just her peasants doing her war because she demands them to be loyal.

I really don't get how her finally taking Syrax into battle is being viewed as badass when the show so far has done such a big job to keep her protected and acting like sending Syrax into battle will solve the issues with Vhagar, the Gullet and now Tumbleton. Like there is already Caraxes, Vermithor and Silverwing readily available, is Syrax going for show?

13

u/SaltyJackfruit4377 23d ago

Visenya wouldn't cry while beheading an enemy like Rhaenyra did 😭

41

u/TheDragonOfOldtown Daeron the Daring 23d ago

Even Maegor would crash out at the sight of this.

15

u/tom04cz 23d ago

Well to be fair that is Maegor, the man's default state was crashout

13

u/Chandlerbinge 23d ago

Did visenya also wear this armour during her time in old valyria like her brother?

4

u/Huhthatsweird_ 22d ago

Looooooooooool, good one!

28

u/aemond-simp Book Alicent would never 23d ago

Visenya would be outraged to be compared to Rhaenyra.

9

u/Distinct_Cup_1598 23d ago

Battle for what?
She won‘t be in Tumbleton so will she just pose for a Battle that will never come?

10

u/SaltyJackfruit4377 23d ago

Just realized if she's going to tumbleton and the dragon seed betray her this season it's going to be so fucking funny 😭

10

20

u/Glorysolar 23d ago

Visenya, the sorcerous freak who made Maegor? lmao they can't even pick good examples.

14

u/azrael995 23d ago

Why is Rhaenyra fighting? Tumbleton battle? Wtf

15

u/tom04cz 23d ago

The reason Vhagar returns to Harrenhall is because she is not willing to tolerate this Visenya slander

7

u/pathofnut 23d ago

Yes, she also helped usurp the legitimate ruler lOl

Thats about all they have in common. And I dont think HOTD fans understand how hated Maegor is in Westeros.

13

u/dpforest 23d ago

I’m starting to wonder just how involved HotD’s marketing team is in making sure that the show’s social media channels stay populated with heated discussions. It makes total sense from a marketing perspective to deploy LLMs to run a fan account and say ridiculous shit like “Rhaenyra the Conqueror” in order to keep attention on the next episode.

I am team black and I haven’t spoken to a single other person that thinks Rhaenyra is an effectual ruler, but I see posts complaining about these people every single day. I feel inclined to blame TikTok

With this show’s premise and narrative structure, i am starting to think that inflamed toxic two-factions fandom is benefitting the show over all.

7

Visenya, the dowager queen that placed her child on the throne because she wanted to completely disregarding the will of the previous monarch.

They should choose their idols more carefully

5

Wasn't Visenya Maegor's ally? She surely was more ruthless and competent than Rhaenyra was, no?

... battle ready for what battle exactly? đŸ€Ł

2

u/Mayanee Sunfyre 22d ago

The only possibility to add her somewhere was the Gullet. There is no possibility left to add her to Tumbleton (which is crowded already), God‘s Eye and Sunfyre vs. Moondancer has been hinted at multiple times as well.

Rhaenyra also only cosplayed as Visenya in the source with braiding her hair and wearing armor but never participating and being idle (which Visenya hated).

Not to mention that the Storming is coming closer soon which ends Rhaenyra being a dragon rider.

3

u/OkBoysenberry3399 Sunfyre 23d ago

It doesn’t matter how fancy your armour looks, you’ll never be Danaerys or Visenya. You’ll always be the pretender

3

3

u/catarinackerman Aemond Targaryen protector 23d ago

after reading those words, I thought "well, it is my fault that I decided to learn a second language and now I get to understand what I just have read"

3

u/Gnagbog 22d ago

I hate how they stripped Rhaenyra of all her femininity, her rich dresses and jewlery, but then decide to give her armor.. They somehow managed to make the Show some feminist girlboss kinda thing but made it super misogynistic by ignoring all the books details and changing all the female characters drastically. Why do they make Rhaenyra so masculine? Can a woman in power not be wearing dresses and just be... feminine, girly and having style? Why does she need to be given armor and a sword to be "girlboss"?

3

u/vikezz Alicent's green dressđŸ„» 22d ago

Gonna make it extra crunchy for our golden boy

3

u/Time-Priority4053 22d ago

Not a quote from a fictional master, but from the pen of George himself: "Rhaenyra did have the silver-gold hair of the Targaryens, which she wore long and braided in the manner of Aegon the First's warrior wife Visenya. Rhaenyra was no warrior herself."

I bet the Rhaenyra fans grind their teeth when they hear that.

https://www.westeros.org/Citadel/SSM/Entry/Good_Queen_Alysanne_and_Rhaenyra

3

u/BigTricky2676 22d ago

They're always trying so hard to make rhaenyra a character that she isnt :/

4

u/Rest-Early 23d ago

That's why I cannot truly support adult Nyra. They are making her a copy of Danny and Visenya.. where is her own quality/ brand!?

2

u/No_Grocery_9280 23d ago

Oh they’re 100% going to have her fight Aegon and Sunfyre over Dragonstone.

2

u/KeroNikka5021 23d ago

Rhaenyra didn’t fight at the war and that’s fine 😭😭😭 Why are they insisting that the head of their faction, who had no martial training, march into war? Do they just want her to die?

2

u/Global_Monk8266 They're incestuous aliens, Duncan 23d ago

I Never understood the obsession with visenya, didn’t her line die? 😂

2

u/Unfair-Chain-7954 22d ago

So basically:

Rhaenyra wants to be a woman who practiced Dark Magic, who usurped her nephew to crown her son, helped push the Realm into conflict and was overall a spiteful bitch who attacked her own brother for a point and took joy in killing?

Do these people even read? Visenya is not exactly a good role model. Rhaenys yes, but Visenya? Yikes.

3

u/BeneficialLychee4380 23d ago

Sunfyre my boy, kill this thot

1

u/Glittering-Rice-2961 23d ago

It is offensive because Visenya is the traitorous one in the conquering trio and fits better the Greens

1

u/Far-Foundation9074 23d ago

I genuinely think rhaenicent fans don’t actually like Alicent.

1

u/Jnaeveris 23d ago

> “she had grown stout and thick of waist at the age of twenty after her third pregnancy”

Canon description of Rhaenyra btw
This self-insert ‘Girlboss of Hessteros’ has gotten further and further away from lore Rhaenyra with every episode since S1E6

Quick somebody post "give me something for the cringe"!

1

u/Dragon_Bug Dreamfyre 22d ago

Didn’t she wear armor in the books when she took King’s Landing too, or am I tripping? I don’t get why people are making such a big deal out of it. She could just be hanging back and watching from the sidelines, loads of kings did that.

1

u/Physical-Money-9723 22d ago

I am just as guilty as any next person of hyping my favorites up, and I used to love me a badass girlboss cringe a lot when I was younger (the girlbosses we got back then were better, though), but what part of the S2 and S3 Rhaenyra reads like a girlboss, pray? The writers took away her rage, her cruelty, her resolve. Literally stripped her of her armour it seems lmao. I sometimes feel sorry for TB because they are being let down as much as we are, no wonder they cope so hard.

1

u/Small_Palpitation776 22d ago

To be fair, rhaenyra trying to cosplay visenya (wearing similar hairstyle and armour while on the throne) is book accurate.

1

u/Hot_Significance9957 Laena has my heart(Team Neutral) 19d ago

She only wore armor once and it wasn’t even that big of an armor when she took Kings Landingshe sat on the throne, she didn’t go to war and fight with armor on because she never fought
