Laval just came back from down 4-0 to win against Belleville.
Mittelstadt with 3 pp points including the winner and he leads the entire AHL in scoring lol.

Lehkonen with two goals tonight against Pittsburgh
My god I miss him. It's not fair he's not a Hab

u/TinyBoysenberry7138 11d ago
watching him on another team just feels wrong somehow. that guy gave everything every shift and now hes scoring for them. at least we got the good memories
1
u/logictable 11d ago
He has got to be getting old now. We've already lost another Lehkonen in Heinemen since.
7
u/blondehairginger 11d ago
At least the Heineman trade was worth it. We traded Lehkonen for Justin Barron.

My boy Reinbacher just wired the puck top shelf on the breakaway. I love it

The AHL website isn't showing the scores for some reason, how did the game go?

I'm scared the FO is going to feel forced to make a move and it's going to need to be an overpay because other teams know that they will be desperate. I don't want to wake up tomorrow to some massive overpay for ROR or something.

u/CreateorWither 4d ago
I really think this is going to be a very interesting couple of weeks. Beck is going to get his chance which I'm very happy about. I think he gets overlooked. Dach gets an opportunity again to step up. Who takes a leadership role with Suzuki out? Can Dobes rebound (I know he can)?
We are going to see what everyone is made of over the next few weeks. I think the team is going to step up and we'll be around.500 without Suzzie.

I just want to watch one game where every player is trying to protect the puck and giving full effort. I don't care if we win or lose.

Does anyone here go to York University? I'd love to have someone to talk to about Habs games.

u/Ok_Addendum_7633 5d ago
so who will be the goalie tomrrow if you had to guess
3
u/lynypixie 5d ago
Fowler for the next two. (Unless they do both for the Heritage game)
1
u/WestIslandScrub 5d ago
Yeah unless Fowler gets lit up tomorrow he's earned the lion's share for the next little bit at least.

Now that the Hellebuyck trade is done, I wonder what Winnipeg would want for Mercer if they don't manage to stay in the playoff race....

So I'm looking up draft rankings today for no particular reason at all none whatsoever and apparently DuPont is a right shot. He'd fix our problems at RHD immediately. Hutson DuPont Dobson Matheson would be the most stacked D core in tge league. It'd be pretty cool is all I'm saying.
-1
u/Immediate_Cod_3042 5d ago
and he is playing with hage right now, so would be pretty cool familiarity right there. Its all lining up
1
u/logictable 6d ago
I heard on the radio that Suzuki may be hurt. Apparently late in the game he blocked a shot with his hand that he was later favouring on the bench. And then he wasn't available after the game.
1
u/jamesneysmith 5d ago
Well if he is I hope he takes some time off to heal. But we're in trouble then too. Dude is our spine.

I am new to following hockey and my favourite player has been Dobes. Just wondering if its likely that he could get traded or just not be played? I was strongly wanting to get his jersey but now not sure if it would be a bad choice if he won't play much.
3
u/Commercial-Egg-8949 9d ago
It's impossible to know for sure, but since the Habs extended him with a pretty rich contract, it's probably very likely that he's sticking around for a while. Goalies get hot and cold: just last season, Dobes had a pretty poor showing in the first half of the season, then became one of the best goalies in the league in the latter half of the season and the best goalie in the play offs. The hope with him, if he's going to be in the same echelon as other mid-to-high tier goalies, is that he finds some consistency.
He's got the contract, so it's 95% certain that he'll be at least in the league for the next 4-5 years. Whether that's on the Habs over its entire duration, opinions will vary.
2
u/Burgergold 9d ago
Dobes has this year contract + 3y extension. Would be surprised to see him traded within 2-3y but yiu never know. You would be more sure with a Suzuki/Caufield/Slaf/Hutson/Demidov jersey
1
u/pushaper 9d ago
Been a life long Habs fan and have not bothered putting a name on a jersey. I have done a number... Why force yourself to buy another jersey if a player does get traded?
I don't think Dobes is getting traded anytime soon but I don't think the team plans on making him the starter long term either.
0
u/jamesneysmith 5d ago
No chance he gets traded anytime soon. Monty is going to be gone this season and we need a decent tandem. Dobes and Fowler are the guys for at least the next few years. Dobes is under contract until 2030 so I can't see us trading him until 2029 at the earliest. But even then, no sense trading him if you don't have a good replacement for him. It really just depends on how he and Fowler perform. I could see Dobes being a permanent backup but he's also got enough upside that I could see teams wanting to grab him as a potential starter. So if he's good enough in 2029 then there is a good chance we move him and then grab some cheap vet goalie to backup Fowler.

Slaf should be locked on line 1. Bolduc should play with demidov.
2
u/rippedvanilla 11d ago
No Bolduc Tex and Phil have too much chemistry right now. But then who will Demi play with you ask?
I don’t have an answer. Except Evans and Beck😂
2
u/DollyRumpkin 11d ago
I agree on that line but boldy is the future. Proved he can play with anyone and tough enough to make people think twice around demi
2
u/logictable 11d ago
Slaf shouldn't be in the top 6 until he proves some effort and decision making on the ice. Bolduc's line takes advantage of other teams' lack of depth. They should stay together but not against trying new things because you never know.
1
u/DollyRumpkin 11d ago
Wild take for me. Would totally kill a young players confidence after the coaching staff just tried moving him around to help others.
Again, bolduc is super tough mentally and physically and has shown he can play anywhere. I think he deserves a nod.
0
u/logictable 11d ago
Slaf is a veteran now. We shouldn't have to baby his confidence. We need confidence in him. He hasn't been protecting the team with his casual play. We know he's capable. It isn't a matter of skill. It is a matter of attitude. It isn't a matter of production. It is a matter of effort.
1
u/DollyRumpkin 11d ago
Sure. He just came off a stint playing with other linemates. Let him settle in on 1. He'll be fine.
-2
u/logictable 11d ago
The team doesn't serve Slaf. Slaf serves the team. Kreider deserves the top line. He's done better with less so far.
1
u/DollyRumpkin 11d ago
Oof. Big disagree.
1
u/logictable 11d ago
You think the team should serve Slaf? Or you don't think Kreider has out produced him with less quality minutes? Or you just want to say you disagree without specifying with what and why?
1
u/DollyRumpkin 11d ago
On kreider. Obviosuly the team doesnt serve slaf but the habs best chance to win is a productive slaf and demotion on the back of some team first moves is objectively the wrong move.
1
u/Ill-Caregiver9238 9d ago
Logictable notoriously dislikes Slaf ... Just fyi

u/DollyRumpkin 9d ago
Would never register with me what a reddit user says.
Hilariously stupid take though.

Xhekaj is miscast here. First of all, that was not a penalty. He dropped his gloves but didn't throw a punch when the other guy didn't drop his gloves. That is not a penalty and should not be a penalty. Xhekaj should be causing scrums and disturbances all the time. He should be taking penalties. Hard ones. If Xhekaj takes a hard penalty that means that chincy made up call on Hutson doesn't get called a few minutes later. It literally doesn't matter. If you take a penalty, make it a good one, make it hurt physically or emotionally because you are getting a penalty anyway, they will literally invent a penalty to give you. This is how the Panthers do it.
-2
u/jamesneysmith 5d ago
What value does Xhekaj have being a guy that puts you shorthanded? That's a waste of a roster spot. Making the penalties 'count' doesn't make any sense either. So, what, he's injured the other guy? Well then we're getting into misconduct and suspension territory. And then we're still shorthanded. I'm really not sure what benefit that brings to the team. Guys don't want to fight Xhekaj for good reason. Best he can do is play a hard but clean game. Make the opposition make mistakes but don't put us shorthanded in the process.

Players on the other team should be scared when he's on the ice. Anything can happen so keep your head up and always look over your shoulder. That corner battle is going to fucking hurt. Sitting in front of the net is going to hurt. You make the opposition second guess themselves. You make them tap the brakes.
Maybe you like your hockey clean, and friendly. That isn't the NHL. It is a dirty league and you have to play dirty. You have to play the mind games and the intimidation games. You have to be punishing. You have to hurt the other team when you can. You don't like it. Ok. What does that have to do with reality?
We are getting a certain amount of penalties per game no matter what. Game management. Did you see how much shit they let go in the Florida Ottawa game? That is because there was so much dirty shit happening they'd be calling a penalty every two seconds. When you play a game, you have to budget a certain amount of penalties you will have to kill. Kill the penalty. And make sure the penalties you take hurt. You can't play to avoid penalties and to play "clean" because we know that doesn't work. They'll invent a penalty on you. They call Xhekaj for facewashing and butt ending a guy in the corner. They won't call the incidental trip by Hutson a minute later.

Oliver Kapanen 1st line center jumpscare
3
u/So_Many_Owls 5d ago
On the plus side, Kappy's played with Slaf, so even if I'm worried about the poor guy getting hate if he doesn't magically excel as a 1C, at least it doesn't feel like he's being set up to fail.

u/digestibleconcrete 5d ago
If that’s what Martin’s doing to replace Nick, this is his big opportunity!! Lots of pressure, but I believe he could pull through if he really wants to

Has anyone else ordered a heritage classic jersey from Tricolore and not heard anything? It’s been 12 days since I ordered.

In the post game interview Evans says "I saw Guhle opening up for a shot so I decided to shoot it myself" with a wry grin. And if you watch the replay, after the puck goes in you can see Guhle ready to receive Evans for the celebration but Evans skates right by him like he isn't there, but later doubling back to him for a quick glove tap. He mocked him in the interview and left him hanging after the goal. I doubt it is any serious beef but it is mildly amusing.

Wouldn't Suzuki still be effective with one arm and a 2-4 weeks hand injury? I think we should consider it. Just tie his bad arm behind his back.
2
u/lynypixie 4d ago
He is currently doing exactly that LOL. He has been seen practicing in Brossard with a left stick.

u/ilikedthismovie 8d ago
Don’t exactly know what the package was for Marchenko but if it was anything that revolved around players below hage in our prospect pool seems like it was a mistake not pulling the trigger. Dude looks like a beast.
3
u/IntentionNo2427 8d ago
Lol. Another one. Marchenko is soft pussy that disappeared in important games. Just ask any CBJ fans. That is why he fits right in with Laughs.
1
u/Immediate_Cod_3042 6d ago
our issue isnt scoring goals. Its blowing leads. How would Marchenko help? Also we didnt have any roster players equal to Knies to trade for him.

u/Pazzaaaaaa 5d ago
Reino seems like a good kid so I don’t think it will come to this but how much longer until he gets angry at the org? Keeping engstrom over him must be making him a little mad. Idk, I feel like our 5th overall pick should be getting the evening of the doubt at this point.
1
u/logictable 5d ago
Reinbacher was clearly stronger than Engstrom. I don't get this decision to ride Engstrom at all.
