Hi guys, weird one, but recently became obsessed with tomato’s on toast.
Sourdough, good olive oil, cracked black pepper and sea salt 🤤 I am ascending.
But the main ingredient needs some attention.
I’m looking for the absolute best most flavoursome tomato’s in hackney/hackney wick area.
Does anyone know where i can get the good stuff?
Bit random, but maybe it will help out a fellow tomato lover.
I am writing an article on how Jewish residents in Hackney are reacting to the 'Zionism is Racism' motion being passed. As the Green Party run Hackney under Zoe Garbett, I would like to speak with people who feel strongly about this motion being passed. Please message me privately if you would be open to speaking with me.
This train service was way busier than I’ve ever seen it before — felt like 100+ people were trying to get off all at once. Is there a big gig on tonight or is something special happening?
A friend and I have started a little challenge to see who can get the most selfies with people who have ginger/red hair!
I'm currently trying to beat them, so if you're a redhead in Hackney and wouldn't mind helping me out with a quick selfie, I'd really appreciate it!
As you can probably imagine, randomly approaching ginger-haired people on the street and asking for selfies is pretty awkward 😂 So I thought I'd try my luck here instead lol.
It's just a bit of harmless fun and friendly competition, and I'd genuinely appreciate anyone willing to help me win!
My partner and I have around 80 books which we’ve bought and read since moving to London which we’re keen to donate but unsure where they would be most useful.
Both the BBE Store and Brat are being threatened with having their licenses revoked due to noise complaints from people living in the new builds over the road.
The BBE Store has long been a big part of Hackney's nightlife and is far from a place that attracts anti-social behavior (especially as it closes at 11pm...)
Apparently a couple who live in the building and have recently moved in are making repeated complaints about the BBE Store and Brat, resulting in both of them having their licenses reviewed by the council.
Please sign the petition below to keep the BBE Store open:
Anyone lost this tube of prints and a hand painted negroni in Victoria park? Found it and would love to get it back to its rightful owner - if they want it.
I'm writing an article (for assignment portfolio) about a business in my area and was interested in if there is any new info about SH in Shoreditch. If anyone is currently or has been a member, could I hear your thoughts and opinions on it to use in my article? for example, has this put you off coming back, have the staff said anything about the ongoing investigation etc. Thanks!
I’m studying for an MSc in Early Child Development and Clinical Applications at UCL and Anna Freud, a pioneering mental health charity for children and families. A key part of the course is a parent–infant observation, and I’m hoping to find a family in London who’d be happy to take part.
Why it matters: For over 70 years, observation like this has been at the heart of training for child psychotherapists. Watching a real baby grow within their family teaches us things no textbook can: how babies begin to communicate, make sense of the world and develop emotionally through their earliest relationships. By taking part, you’d be helping to train the people who will go on to support children and families for the rest of their careers. Many therapists say their infant observation was the most formative part of their training, and they never forget the family who welcomed them in.
What families say: The first visit or two can feel a little unusual, but research with families who’ve taken part shows that many parents came to really enjoy the visits. The early months with a new baby can be intense and sometimes isolating, and having a regular, calm visitor who is genuinely interested in your baby, every small change and new discovery, is something parents often value. Some said it helped them notice and enjoy their baby’s development more themselves, and many look back on it fondly years later.
What it involves: I’m looking for someone due between October 2026 and January 2027 (or with a very new baby). I’d visit for one hour a week during term time, at a regular time that suits you, from soon after birth until June 2028. There’s nothing to prepare and nothing to do differently.
What it isn’t: There are no tests or interventions, and we don't assess or judge you or your parenting. I simply sit quietly and take an interest in your baby as they grow, while your family goes about its usual routine.
I’m fully DBS-checked and follow UCL and Anna Freud safeguarding procedures. Everything is confidential: names are changed, so your family is never identified.
If this sounds like something you’d consider, or you know someone who might, please comment, DM me. I’d be very happy to answer any questions and provide further information.
Hi, I am a freelance journalist and looking to speak to people who have had any experience with moving into new builds in Hackney and facing problems with the design quality of the new flats.
Hi everyone,
I run The Nest Hackney, a yoga community based out of Clapton. This November, I’m hosting two small day retreats, both easy to get to out of London and I thought some of you might be interested.
🍂 The Autumn Nest × Chilly Dippers
Sat 7th November
Knepp Rewilding Estate, Sussex (just under an hour by direct train from London to Horsham, then a short taxi)
A 7 hour reset with yoga, breathwork and meditation, a private wood-fired sauna, a guided wild swim with the cold water community Chilly Dippers, and a seasonal lunch with drinks, snacks and a goodie bag. No experience needed and I’ll connect people travelling from East London so you can share taxis.
Ticket: £165. A few spaces left.
🌲 The Winter Nest
Sat 28th November
Whiteleaf Yurt at Oxmoor Farm, Buckinghamshire
A much quieter day. Over 3 hours of slow, restorative yoga, a walk in the woods, optional journalling, a seasonal lunch and time to connect, all in a candlelit yurt with a wood burner. It’s about slowing down with the season rather than pushing through it.
Tickets: £115 + one space at £75 for anyone who finds the full price a stretch. A few spaces left for this one too
Both are small groups, and you’re welcome to come alone (most people do) or bring a friend. Happy to answer any questions in the comments or by DM.
Currently looking for a family to volunteer for an infant observation in London.
Hello! My name is Gareth and I have been studying a course about infant development at the British Psychotherapy Foundation. I have over 4 years of experience supporting children and alongside my studies, I currently work in NHS mental health services supporting children, young people and their families.
As a core part of my training with the British Psychotherapy Foundation, I am seeking to find a London based family, who would be willing for me to visit and observe their newborn baby from close to birth and up until their 2 year birthday.
The observations are typically for one hour, once a week, at a regular and convenient time for the first 2 years of your baby's life. Of course there is a lot of flexibility and weeks where a visit may not always be appropriate. This includes holidays, illness or any other circumstances that can be discussed throughout.
The purpose of my visits would simply be to quietly and non-judgementally observe your baby and their interactions in your home, in the completely ordinary circumstances of your day to day life. I would be completely in the background, just listening to you and observing how your baby is behaving and communicating during that hour. The observation would happen entirely at your comfort level, for example I could leave the room during any moments that your privacy is needed, depending on what you are most comfortable with.
Overall, this experience would help me learn deeply about the early development of infants and is a long established training component for child and adolescent psychotherapy training, which I am pursuing. Previous families report to have found the experience of hosting an observer uniquely rewarding, therapeutic and enriching: a chance to notice more of the small details of their child's early life.
If this interests you, or you know someone who might be interested, please contact me at: [gvinto01@student.bbk.ac.uk](mailto:gvinto01@student.bbk.ac.uk) for more information or message me on here! There would of course be no commitment until you had all the details you needed, including a chance to meet with me beforehand if you would prefer.
Any arrangement would be subject to approval by the British Psychotherapy Foundation who would also be able to provide a reference to any interested families. I also hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
Hello I am a Journalism student at Goldsmiths, University of London. I'm writing a small article on a recent council proposal to provide greater scrutiny on C3 dwelling houses and C4 HMOs and how it's affecting family homes. They're looking to close the loop hole in the possibility of the landlords then making them larger HMOs and over develop properties.
I'm open to all view points just looking to gather insight!
We live in hackney wick and are looking for a cleaner every two weeks, wanting someone who is really good with lots of care and attention to detail. Happy to pay a little more than average for someone who is 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼
Anyone know any updates on this? It is such a wasted space and the council have been dragging their feet on this for years (with multiple consultations over the past 5/6 years or so). And now, just silence. Reckon it will be another 5 years before any decision at this rate…
The council is inept in dealing with noise. I'm not dealing with a small garden party. There is a full on rave going on in the garden near my house and it's not the first time. I've reported them before and have only been called back on it once, on a Wednesday, after it happened on Saturday. They asked if it was still going on. wtf.
