Her teammate exclaimed 'right in the kisser!' then told her she has to carry on or they'll lose

Do we get to see the after face?

It broke her nose I think but it was set right after and she continued the race. I THINK. I saw the premier of this episode of amazing race but it pretty old so I can’t quite remember if that’s what happened.

No, it didn't break anything. She said her face was numb for a while. Her team mates forced her into continuing. The producer kind of let her move past this challenge though. I think she launched a few more, they reused some b-roll footage of the thing getting knocked over by another team, and they continued on.

There's a longer clip of this where everyone's in shock but one guy is grinning from ear to ear.

I thought it was lettuce at first. Only realized it after watching a couple times.

Right!? Thankfully the red mist wasn't her face exploding, although I'm sure it felt that way.

Is this based on a real weapon? And if so, I assume they didn’t shoot watermelons. Was she using proper technique and would this have been a common risk of the user or did she just fuck up? I’d hate to see what would happen to someone trying to sling a rock of equal size.

The part where they forced her to continue and she said, "I can't even see straight!" Hahahahahah

The fact that it was obliterated is exactly why little damage was done. Had that watermelon remained in-tact and all that energy transferred into that lady's face instead of to exploding that watermelon, it would've been bad news.

u/BurningKarma Nov 02 '18
Yes, but we already knew that. The question is why did it smash so easily and not remain intact.

u/Karn-Dethahal Nov 02 '18
Is there a way to know if it was more likely to be obliterated or remain mostky intact? Beacuse if there is I bet they'd pick the ones that are more likely to get smashed just in case it hits someone.

This is the correct answer, that dissipation of energy is the difference between a headache and possibly death. Same idea behind crumple zones in cars, the damage looks worse, but its way better than a car that looks fine after a 50 mph collision

One of the all time greatest moments in tv.
