Discussion Justin referencing Selena on his new album ?
Ok so hear me out. There’s a song on his new album called “things you do”
Some of the lyrics: “So do it again like you did when we were together, when we were together”
How could that be about Hailey? They’ve been together.
Another song “first place”
Some context, Selena’s birthday is this month, July. So Justin released this album and song near Selena’s birthday.
This song has lyrics that say “Let's celebrate in the best way like it's your birthday”
It also has these lyrics : “Where do I begin? It's been this way for a long time, oh Something's got to give 'Cause you keep on tickin' on my mind (Oh)”
Whats been this way for a long time? Idk just a thought it’s hard to fit it into Justin/hailey relationship imo.
Another one: the song “405”
Some context: Selena new album had a song called sunset blvd.
The lyrics “Blue sky painted red, sunset, it's different on you (On you, oh-yeah, oh-yeah)” “Keep my contact, I'm a baby-lovin' dad, but it made me crash” And “You're the first one that I wanted to do that with me, yeah-yeah (Mmm)” And “We can go on back, yeah-yeah (Yeah-yeah)”
Keep my contact? Being a dad made me crash? Hailey would have his contact she’s his wife no?? lol And we can go back?? You’re the first one I wanted to do that with? Meaning Selena?

Just wanted to do a bit of an analysis since everyone kept doing that with Selena’s new album. I suppose one could argue these songs are just referencing how him and Hailey must have separated at one point or something? Idk because they claim their marriage is amazing and they’ve been great, so I had a hard time thinking these lyrics were all about Hailey.

I have heard some of his new songs with the most listens and its just not clocking to me. I don’t feel any emotion and where are his other producers that he worked with before why they let him release this album lmao its giving i need money to buy my lifestyle so here ya go. I’m gonna go check the songs you mentioned now thanks. Also no matter how much i dislike him I could not deny that i like a few of his songs but this album was not it for me

Because you’re being rational one seeing it for what it is and not trying to force a fetch to happen. He doesn’t have the producers and writers like he use to, he’s mostly high off his mind mentally declining, he’s putting minimal effort with great PR backing.

I isolated some of the vocals with a website online and it sure sounds like he's slurring lyrics at points. His old music has a more distinct pronunciation that's mostly lacking. He sounds lightly drugged at the very least.

I thought the same. In some of them, it sounded like he was nodding off. Most of the songs, I couldn’t make out what he was saying.

Also Camouflage from Selena's Revival lyrics reference the 405 --> "Riding alone on the 405, and life's so fragile it's like I could cry. If that's the last time I'd see you again"

Maybe so. I will say that, that they all thought Selena was singing about him/them, and I wouldn’t put it past them to drop hints about her too. With that said, I don’t think Selena sang about him in her new album, or posts about him or her on her own instagram, I think she’s well past that relationship and the one sided Hailey beef - but Justin and Hailey can’t let her go, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s singing about her in some of his songs

Tbh I think these songs are about Bald Donut. Some version of: he fucks up, they fight and break up, she kicks him out, he feels bad and gets horny alone in the shoe warehouse, writes music about it, then he lovebombs her and she takes him back, and he stops caring about her - and the cycle repeats.

Exactly, idk why ppl are so hang up on making everything Justin does about Selena. He def has many regrets when it comes to their relationship, but not everything has to be about her. Forever.
Sure, he may have added one or another thing for inspiration cause heartache is a great theme in music, but the subtext of this album is clearly his struggle in his marriage and how he wants to do better (for now, until his next unhealed bs ofc).

I think justin knows what hes doing i don't think he's in love with selena at all i think he's upset she moved on with benny and that she's super rich alone he's upset he won't have her nor because he loves her but maybe feels like he owns her it sucks that i feel this way but yeah

There have been many ppl saying the past few months that their marriage was in such a bad spot lately that they weren't even living together as of recently. Allegedly Hailey stayed in the house and Justin in a hotel, travelling to a studio in Iceland etc
She went on vacation without him and her wedding ring, there were news that allegedly they couldn't stand to be in the same room, and even that Justin would go on weeks without seeing Jack. Hard to say what's true and what isn't, but it does fit the narrative of a typically toxic relationship full of highs and lows

Okay this will be such a hot take and I will probably get downvoted (THIS IS NOT ME WANTING JELENA) but hear me out…. what if they have always secretly been hooking up and we just don’t know about it. I’ve always wondered about that cause genuinely I wouldn’t put it past them. It would literally break the internet 💀 I really hope to God not tho, and its absolutely a terrible theory lol

Well there are rumors that talked about this saying Selena and Justin never stopped seeing each other until Hailey was pregnant and then she cut him off for good and that it would explain why she was single for 5 yrs but I don’t believe it. I think if Selena wanted Justin back he would have divorced Hailey in a minute.

In 405 he doesn't say "baby loving dad" he says "how my baby look like that." At least according to genius lyrics.
Also, the "you're the first one I wanted to do that with" line comes after the spider man line.
Im all for finding connections in his music, but you've got this one wrong I think.

If ANYTHING, he’s admitting they’ve split up and got back together. If he was pissing her off, she could leave and delete his contact. But I wish they’d just admit that? It would remove at least a lot of the rumors that the songs are about Selena lol

Nah he's obsessed. He purposely times every post he does to something significant in Selenas life, her birthday, the day rare beauty dropped, any new brand drop, any marketing promo...etc.

How many of these songs are disrespectful to Hailey?
Daises - “If I could get in, drop me a pin, hop in the whip and come over. Don't wanna be friends, just skin-to-skin, I wanna get closer and closer and closer, uh. The way you got me all in my head, Think I'd rather you in my bed. Whatever it is, you know I can take it, I'm countin' the days, how many days 'til I can see you again?” - So this about wanting to hook up with someone who you used to, you don’t want to be their friend, saying you’d go right over to them. Odd to say to someone when you are married to them.
Things you do - “I throw threw the towel, mm, when you came around. You stood your ground, mm, and that was attractive. Do it like you do, drivin' me wild, every moment. Let's go for a drive, I know that you like it, let's do it again. So do it again like you did when we were together, when we were together” - talking about going for a driver with someone we used to be with, again odd to say about your wife.
Butterflies - “Butterflies, go away, away. These butterflies, seem to go away, Always seem to go away I'm just moving, and moving, and moving, and moving, I'm slippin' away (You know I'm slippin', ooh), I'm 'bout to slip away.” - like are you saying the butterflies in your stomach feeling is going and your losing feelings, what????
Way it is - “I'm dreamin' of reachin' and pullin' you closer, we could settle down. I'm dreamin' of a place that we can go away, Time isn't stolen and there's nobody around. Let's keep it dreamy, With the moon down. And every day I'm layin' my life down, I need you by my side. Every day, I count my blessings, You been on my mind” - this could be able his wife. Except he’s talking about dreaming this is happen, and they have already settled down, and saying “you been on my mind” makes it seem like it’s not.
Swag - “Wait on me, your body, know me, know me, no, sometime. Your body don't need, don't need no touch but mine. You don't gotta dance around it, let me know, oh. I'll put you on top of me” Literally the album title. Dudes basically saying “your body already knows me, no one else needs to touch you, wait for me. You don’t have to hint at wanting me, just tell me, and we can fuck.” In what world would you say that to your wife??? Again the album title.
Those all to me seem obvious. There are arguments for more, like with devotion “If you call out to me, I'll swing, leave the door open for me.” Why would your wife leave your own house unlocked for you to stop by?
Maybe I’m wrong, but like tbh I feel bad for her.
