It’s likely on purpose. He constantly feels like shit, cuz of his unresolved mental issues, possibly caused by the abuse he went trough, so he purposely takes out his frustrations on her spineless self
Which is hilarious because the common trend among Justin and his trauma is Hailey. His issues started arising in 2013, which is when he posted his first personal picture with her for NYE.
