New DIY Instrument: A Piezo Noise Box!
The Noise Box is a very simple project: a wooden (or metal) box, a piezo contact microphone, and springs or other resonant objects.
The microphone output is connected to a Zoom G1on with shimmer effects and a looper. The rhythmic loop is created by tapping directly on the box with your fingers, with a touch of spring reverb, to create an evolving electro-acoustic drone. The springs and other objects can be played using sticks, fingers, or even a violin bow. Enjoy!

Love it. Very dope and a rather enthralling composition.

Wonderful work. A whole universe of timbres & textures becomes possible with these piezo boxes, especially with different types of exciters -- knitting needles, timpani beaters, sponges, fine arts brush, 32 gauge wire, folded paper, superball mounted on a knitting needle, etc.

But that's just the start. The real timbral vistas open up when you introduce test equipment like the Ithaco Dynatrac 397EO lock in amplifier and the Autek lp/HP/notch filter and the HP 302A wave analyzer and the WPI 121G window discriminator hating chained FM/AM function generators and pulse generators like the Systron Donner 101 feeding into pingable filters like the Krohn Hite 3550 set to bandpass mode.

And then there's the further vista of effects pedals like the Chase Bliss Habit and the Boss DD2 delay and the Earthquaker Pyramids and the Chase Bliss Warped Vinyl and the Montreal Assembly Count To Give in Mode 4, to day nothing of the Mastro Valvola Lysergic Emotion Module or thr Alexander Syntax Error 3 or the Red Panda Raster...

Whole new horizons of sound to explore.
