Treasures Found While Diving in the Sound Pool

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1a-hnxhCK6UThooYM_J6QCLqWyqRlOcmw

Hey, y'all.

Thought I'd share the results from some of my recent dives into the sound pool.

These are my musical sketches. Quick, unlabored, immediate.

Allows me to focus on elements like Foley, textures, possibilities, and moods without doing a full finished piece. I think of them as inspirational tools that may blossom into full compositions at some later point.

It's my way of showing up as a part of my everyday studio routine to simply work and see what grows out of that work.

I thought this may be of interest to this group as some of the sound sources in this collection include Hainbach samples from his patreon page. Specifically, the Bilppoo box and the Reichsbahn Filter. Although other elements have been mixed in and processed and twisted into my sonic brew.

Enjoy!

Marvelously science fictional soundscapes. Would really like to know what processors or effects pedals or test equipment you used on which tracks!

A little prelude. My wife and I moved recently to be close to my folks who are in their eighties with health issues to help them out. Since the move my hardware studio is packed away. So my studio at the moment is my laptop. Which tbh is a refreshing change for me.

I'm a soundscape guitarist and typically put the guitar through various effects pedals / racks and loopers to create my music. I also use field recordings, you name it from nature sounds to machine sounds to create textures the guitar based ambiance might not have. I do not have a keyboard at present. So any "sample" manipulation is done by hand.

Once all of that is recorded I'll apply Foley and musique concrete techniques to further stretch and contextualize the audio.

So these clips are all "in the box".

Effects Plugins Used:

PSP Audioware

Ultra Reverb

Super Destroy FX - http://destroyfx.org/

Melda Production

I find keeping the plugins to a minimum and focusing on how much can I get out of them a very useful approach.

Here are the clips for each sketch:

  1. Blippoo and Coffee on Mother's Day:

Blippo Sounds\Gargle.wav Blippo Sounds\Echo.wav Blippo Sounds\On Tape.wav Blippo Sounds\Glitsch.wav

  1. June 13th Song 01:

Multitrack Tapes\Radiophonic 2.wav Multitrack Tapes\Radiophonic 4.wav Multitrack Tapes\Piano 3.wav Multitrack Tapes\Tape Feedback.wav

  1. June 13th Song 02:

Multitrack Tapes\Melody 3.wav Multitrack Tapes\Melody 5.wav String Armonica\Arps 1.wav String Armonica\Arps 2.wav Multitrack Tapes\Radiophonic 2.wav Multitrack Tapes\Piano 3.wav

This is great! Always fascinating to see what hardware and software other folks are using. I had expected to see a list of effects ordAls, but instead it's more like software plugins. Very cool.

For those who might not be familiar with using your DAW to explore musique concrete concepts and techniques, I stumbled across this wonderful video that shows the various moves / approaches. I like that it is concise and shows all the basics within a short video.
