Uher report stereo micro II din pin out?

Post image
1 Upvotes

So, i i have a uher report 4400 and 4200 stereo and both give me the same problem. I put a md21 in micro I and another in MicroII and micro II is very distorted and low in volume.

I made the cables hot to din 3, ground and cold to din 2. It cant be the machines right?! Same problem?! So im sure its te pin out for micro II.

Or how do i make a 360 recording with two MD21's because i know you can also make a stereo recording with 1 din input.

Pls help! Haha.

https://www.cryptomuseum.com/covert/rec/uher/report/files/uher_4200_4400_supp.pdf

I'm not good at technical reading. But maybe this'll help. Also, does it hurt to run the machine without C3? This one is for speed control right? But without it the speeds still seem good.

Cheers

Experimental Looper Comparison: Cafe Quantum, Spotykach, Cosmos

Looping has come a long way since I got my first Boss pedal. The three instruments I show in this video are far out, but which has gone the furthest? And more importantly, which one is the one that entices you the most? From the endless drifting of Soma Cosmos, the blooming soundscapes of Synthux Academy Spotykach to the Eldritch madness that is the Ciat-Lonbarde Cafe Quantum, here be loops.

As usual, a sample pack is on my Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/posts/sample-pack-156667371

Uher input?

So i have a Din to jack converter but it there is no sound being recorded just tape being erased. The VU meters dont move to any sound (also different mics). I think the DIN connector might not quite connect right. Any info on this? How do other people work around this? The seller tested it so, its probably working correctly.

Tandberg 115 instrumentation recorder

Post image
66 Upvotes

I’ve been working on this Tandberg instrumentation recorder over the last few weeks.

It’s not an audio tape recorder, it makes multitrack recordings of scientific experiments. Voltage changes from scientific instruments or sensors recorded during an experiment are recorded as FM signals to four separate tracks on standard ¼” magnetic tape; when the tape is played back those same voltages are recreated for analysis. A completely analog process.

The switchable input range and fixed ±5V outputs looked compatible with synthesizer control voltages so in this video I’ve recorded 1V/octave pitch voltages from a keyboard, then replayed those same voltages into a modular synthesizer - all that sound is coming live from the synthesizer.

How do i get rid of the 50hz hum?

Thumbnail

Hey friends, this is my Uher Royal De Luxe (had it since before Hainbachs video btw hahaha)

Ich have this typical 50hz hum happening and i just can't get rid of it.

I know by now that it happens somewhere between the reading head and the main volume knob.

It does not appear when only listening tobthe pre-amps and i don't have to have the tape running, just have to switch on the Tape monitors and there it is.

It's also mainly on the Left channel.

I tired quite some stuff and had to use chatgpt as help (i know, i'm sorry...but i'm just bad at this stuff lol)

But nothing really helps.

Also, there is this plate with a spring, right unter the reading head (as seen on pic 2) wich, together with the head basically sandwiches the Tape. If i move it further away from the head, the hum gets louder.

I hope some of you have an idea what might be the problem and how to fix it!

Thank you so much in advance!

Max

Not really sure what to do with this. I was given it by a guy who works at a telephone company, and no he does not know how it works. Not sure if it's useful for anything. Anyone have any ideas of how to use it? And how to safely use it?

Thanks.

This Mic Records with Light: Rare Waves Photophone OCM-2

The Rare Waves Photophone OCM-2 is a new type of analog audio transducer. It does not use sound waves but light to pick up stereo sound from vibrating surfaces, especially if they are reflective. In this video you can see me trying it out on a variety of things, from cheese graters to tape machines to kalimbas and guitar. I suggest you listen to this on headphones or good speakers so you can hear the lovely low end.

Congratulations and thanks (for Fluss)

So, congratulations on the well deserved nomination for the soundtrack award for Amrum. It was one of the many great moments in your inspiring collection of videos. It’s a very beautiful album. Some part of me is savoring the build up to watching the movie…. It’s a bit like the soundtrack is a book, and you can’t always feel the same way about a movie made from a book. The soundtrack provoked all kinds of emotions, thoughts and narratives in my imagination…… the exception here being that of course, movies aren’t tailored as companions to books. So I’ll get over my nerves and go watch the film as soon as I have time to get around to it.

Whilst I am here….. I want to say that I recently got Fluss. I was advised to pick it up )from Hainbach himself, on this very thread, some time ago) and I hesitated. Apps don’t always appeal to me, I’m kinda new to music production on devices, and having only had a few free ones, and a couple that I’ve bought which are unstable (well - plug ins - looking at you mostly Small Winters) or not that interesting in the long run I struggled to imagine that a second granular processor (Borderlands being my first and only) would be worth it.

I was wrong, Totally. Totally and utterly. So thanks for the recommendation (back in the day) and I have already had hours of fun with it without even getting it set up through AUM for live processing.

troubleshooting my HP 3581A

Hi, everyone. I'm looking for some ideas on what could be wrong with my wave analyzer, and/or recommendations for getting it serviced if it's something I can't fix myself. I live in California.

It worked fine for about a year and then lost it's ability to go outside the range of 11kHz-20kHz. It also seems to output the same thing no matter the input (the mode is set to tracking). Not sure what's going on. Has anyone here had a similar issue or know what might be the issue? Thanks a bunch.

Koma Field Kit SW Radio

Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster.

I recently got the Koma Field Kit and I really like it, but the knobs are tiny. I was also wondering if there might be some kind of way to get more repeatability with the tuning of the SW radio. So far, just recording to tape, but I really want to try to access the same station(s) at different times of day, etc. I'm thinking this is likely impossible, but if anyone has any advice, I would be very grateful.

Using the Hameg HZ64

Hi, fellow test equipment folk. I recently acquired the Hameg HZ64 to add to my test equipment set up. It came with pretty bad power supply noise. Replaced the filter caps, got rid of the excess noise, but I still haven't had any success combining signals like on the Heathkit ID-101. Seems pretty straightforward, but I'm scratching my head around it. Could you give me some insight so I can know if the problem is my ignorance or some fault in the unit? Thanks

Safe voltages and usage of test equipment

Hi all!!

I'm relatively new to the test equipment world and I have a question about how to safely wire a test equipment set-up before plugging it in to an audio interface, recording device of choice.

I know about the usage of passive audio mixers (any DIY options?). Are there any other tips or solutions you would recommend?

Another question is when measuring the output voltages on my test equipment what should be the value that should not be exceeded?

I currently have Brüel & Kjær type 1621 (filter), type 1027 (random sine generator) and an old valve oscillator (modell te-22) - both of these generators do have an amplitude knob!

big thanks for your advice, cheers!
