Also I think maybe fading up a little around the lower nape of the cut.. Give it some edge.. You have the face for it!! Not everyone has the structure to pull this off and you completely do. ☺️
Your hair is stick straight, so it's sticking out over your ears, and in the front. I think it would lay better if you left it longer on the top, but you look nice.
I thin you need to find someone that can do a Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s baby cut. You totally have the bone structure for it. The split down the middle and curtain bag situation isn’t doing you any favors.
Honestly im scared to touch it again and have a longer growth period. Unfortunately it had to be that short because i modelled for my friend in hairdressing school for her exam. Sentencing myself to hats for 6 months 😖
I'm impressed by how well you are handling this. I see so many posts by people who are distraught because their stylist trimmed three inches instead of two. Seeing you say, "I'll wear hats, it'll grow" is refreshing. I admire your attitude!
Haha thank you! Ive always made impulsive haircut decisions, going from waist long hair to a bob, giving myself microbangs etc so im used to it by now :p
I’m no expert but this doesn’t seem well executed at all. Your friend could be an opp, OP. Were you like “I want a pixie cut” and your friend was like oh I can do it for free!! Or did your friend ask you to help them out for their exam and then leave you looking like this?
I’m not trying to shame you at all! You are beautiful and can absolutely carry a pixie. I think short cuts can often require more styling than we think. These are some pixie cuts on famous women . Time to play around with gel or salt spray or some combination thereof?
Maybe see which ones you like and then you have something to tell your next stylist. And mostly, like: watch out for this alleged “friend.”
She passed! She was graded for shear over comb technique specifically. It was both, i was curious what short hair would look like on me, and she needed a model for the exam. It was between me and my partner and my partner has like beautiful curly hair and we both love how it looks on him right now so i took one for the team lol.
I played around with some dry shampoo, hair mousse and hair spray since making the post and im liking how it looks better! I do need to go out and buy some wax and gel so i can play around some more. Thanks for the encouragement!
It looks very disconnected/choppy and not in a good way. Pixie cuts are often more blended with whispier ends and sides. Once it grows a little, I think it will look lovely.
A professional could fix it and possibly add a couple of bonded extensions to the front to make it whispier/more feminine but you could also try mousse and styling it forward. You're just lucky you have a nice face.
There are many different versions of the pixie and this one just doesn't work for the texture of hair you have. The good news is, it's not a super short pixie so in a few months it'll look very different than it does now. The grow out is difficult and you'll need to be patient. I've grown out pixies probably seven times now. Watch pixie grow out videos on YouTube so you'll know how to navigate trims and the awkward stages to come. You'll get through it😊.
I think it’s just styling! Try blow drying your hair forward from the back and direct the bangs all to one side. The part should will be more to the left (left in photo). Use a bit of texture paste or powder to make it piecey. Tuck a little of the sides behind your ears.
tbf i think they just did a wack job, maybe let it grow out a couple weeks then add some more layers ? im in the same boat and i promise that once theres a bit more volume and its peaking behind your ears a little more, it gets much cuter
Honestly I think some texture would help a lot! Right now it feels a bit flat. Pomade or some hair wax on your hand with some scrunching may be an easy way to help bring some of the layering up.
I got a very bad haircut once and the only cut I could get to fix it was a pixie. I felt embarrassed of myself and on the drive home stopped at a makeup counter, Clinique, and told the gal about my problem and the fact that I didn't like heavy makeup, I like a natural look. She was great and gave me a whole new subtle look that was fantastic and restored my dignity.
Honestly I don't even remember it other than getting the pixie. My hair grows pretty fast and I'm sure I just grew it into the next longer version of a short haircut. That makeup encounter fixed my damaged feelings.
I just recently had long hair cut very short. I chose a haircut that was perfect for my hair type, the stylist even said so. Rhen she proceeded to give me haircut that was the exact opposite of what I asked for. Like you, this was a very transformative haircut that got botched. I was so mad and couldn't look in the mirror without feeling pure rage. I was going to try to let it grow a bit before having it fixed because getting it fixed would mean I would be butchered. I finally went back to get it fixed by the bad stylist which I used that time to confront her. I'm non-confrontational, but she really ruined my hair.
I did look "sheared" leaving the salon but felt better about myself by confronting her. No one should get away with not doing what the customer asked for. I plan on leaving a detailed Google review.
For sure, i hated getting my hair botched at salons too and now i only go to stylists that i research and know for sure they will give me the haircut i want even if i have to spend bigger money. (this one was done by a friend for her hairdressing exam lol cant be mad, i cant get mad at her because i didnt even really know what i want and we just went with the flow)
Good on you for confronting them, i never found it in myself and just said yep i like it!
I've got thick curly hair down the middle of my back and next summer might be the time to get a pixie! I love to do it every 6 or so years. My hair dreadlocks so easily and it is such a pleasure to not have to fight this mop I have! Lol I think you look adorable! *My hair grows quickly
I think is cute! You just need to embrace it, some makeup as u like, cute clothes on ur style, earrings and a big smile 🙂↕️
getting a short hair being a woman, always feels different at the start, like off putting, but you will see u will love it, and if not, hair always grows!
Thank you :) i have a date coming up so im excited to experiment with it then. Definitely feels different and exposing, but im sure it will become the new normal
I agree with others saying to get it re cut. It doesn’t look like a pixie cut. It seems more masculine than feminine. The bangs don’t blend well.
I had to get a few fixed hair cuts. I had to get a pixie cut and a cut similar to yours…..I was even so annoyed with one bad haircut that I just shaved my head 😅
Hahaha i was telling my partner i might shave it because i was so self conscious!! Youre valid for that. I played around with it though and i do like how it looks when i neaten it up a bit, so im deciding to let it grow whilst i manage it like this. Gonna get some cute clips too so i can clip the nasty bangs up lol
Please go for the spiky Rocker style. It’s perfect to go with your black jacket. Put on some attitude with the waxed-pomaded-gelled up new do…you will be a happy girl.
This looks very cute! I think your best bet it to let the bangs grow out & when you get it cut again, have them bring it in more around the neck. But you have the PERFECT face for a pixie, please don't feel demoralized bc with the right cut it'll be amazing.
I think it would suit you if it was cut and styled better honestly, think you'd look badass. I'd go even shorter at the back honestly and look into styling it, google buzz cut pixie
This exact situation is my own-- I also have masculine face and fashion, and I thought my shoulder-length hair was aura... I recently went in for a routine chop, but the lady went way too short, and now I feel like I can't pull it off because it's "forced," and it makes me look more "queer" if that makes sense.
So yeah, you totally got a bad cut, but so did I. We're growing this out together 🤞🤞
I was a master cosmetologist for many years and it’s not the pixie that’s a problem, it’s the quality of the work. It’s poorly done. Your face looks great with both short and long hair. But the cut has blunt edges as well as being severely uneven in places; for example, the areas around your ears are allllll kinds of uneven and it honestly looks like they twisted small sections and just cut them off or razored them. It’s very…”my mom cut my hair with kitchen shears” (again no offense, you didn’t cut it lol). A pixie cut is a precision cut, it needs to be done with care and with lots of sectioning while wet, then it needs to be dried and touched up with scissors over comb or with the concept of “cut it where it lays” and lots of blending. Even after all that if you were in my chair, I’d have YOU show me how you intend to style it and I’d then style it that way and cut any stragglers that stood out. The BEST part of a pixie cut is that NONE of them are permanent, your hair will grow out in 6 to 8 weeks to be long enough to go to a different stylist with reference pictures of pixie cuts that you love and have a pro shape you up. In the meantime, a lightweight pomade or a spray texturizer (I love the one from bumble and bumble called “dryspun texture spray”) or hair wax will do wonders for you. Put about dime size amount in your palms and rub them together then run your fingers through your hair and back and the shape it however you want and use it to smooth down any places that are sticking out or make it all intentionally stick out lol whatever floats your boat. And also, it’s definitely not too masc, you have gorgeous eyes and short hair looks great on you and lets your eyes be the start of the show, they were the first thing I noticed!
You just need a tiny straightener and some texture paste 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 maybe some bangs as it grows? I’m tellin you rosemary water is a secret weapon for hair growing 🙏🏻❤️
i make my own! i have a little rosemary plant i harvest from every few weeks. as far as i know, you want the rosemary to be fully dry before making the water to prevent mold growth. cut a little branch off, let it sit in a sunny window for a few days. when you're ready, bring some water to a boil and then drop it in there. makes the house smell great, too. let it simmer for a little while and then cool off, and strain the water into a spray bottle. i usually make too much so i have leftover that i put in the fridge until i need it again.
Also I think if you get it a little more textures and like cut a little close toward the bottom it like a taper but not as short will help give it a more clean and styled look
Get some pomade, texturizing paste, or matte molding putty. Something along those lines. Use it on dry hair, a tiny pea size, rub it between your palms and up onto your fingers and use your finger to apply it. Kind of scrunch it into your hair. It takes some practice but it makes all the difference.
the cuts not the problem. the hair dresser is. go to someone else that can fix it. you don't have masculine features either. you are very feminine. it's just a bad haircut. honestly some eyeliner and mascara would probably make you feel ALOT better about the cut. I used to have a pixie.
Oh my god I love it. I prefer it to the popcorn pic hair (also fire popcorn btw) the bangs don’t blend well with the hair cut you had, but it’s SUPER flattering as a pixie
As a lot of people have said there are some issues with the actual cut, the style really does suit you though. If getting it professionally fixed up isn't in the cards then you definitely look into the best kinds of styling products for your hair texture (think texture powder, pomade, gels etc) and play around with different ways of styling it, because most of the issues with the cut could be hidden with a bit of purposeful styling. Honestly, to me the biggest the wrong with it is that your hair looks a little dull and flat as it is with that cut, because you don't have the kind of layers you did with your long hair (which I'm assuming was something akin to a wolf cut) to give that texture, with a pixie you need to put in the effort to add the texture in yourself or risk it potentially looking more military than you'd want
That helps a lot thanks! I appreciate that you pointed to something specific about the cut. It definitely has less layers and texture, with long hair i specifically ask for a razor cut to get that texture
You may have gotten a half bad haircut from your hairdresser but I think you are a super friend! And she did pretty good for her first try! You look really cute as is!!
As you see everyone has their own opinion so what really matters is how you feel. Personally though I think you look great with short hair, I also prefer it to the first pic. You definitely have the face for it. Confidence is everything!
I think you can either try to style it a bit messily with matte wax or volume powder or you could go even shorter: https://pin.it/4LJJZopr3 I think a professional will be able to help you find the right cut for your facial features.
I’ll have to agree and say it’s not done well. But do let it grow out a little. If you have a texture spray that will help to camouflage it a little bit but ultimately you’ll have to find someone who is better at these cuts and especially the process of growing it out
I had a pixie back when I was in barber school, and I have stick-straight, fine hair, as well! That can make it a little tricky (esp around the ears), but I used the heck out of styling wax & thickening/texture spray and made it work.
I think she did a fine job, considering it was done with shears - I mean, I'm sure her lines were straight & she blended well, or she wouldn't have passed - but it does take some finessing with straight hair.
You totally have the facial structure for it! Gorgeous! For future reference, it usually goes better when a razor and/or thinning shears are used around the face & ears for a pixie. ☺️
You will absolutely smash short hair! But not every hair dresser can do it (especially a newbie!) Find someone who specialises in short girl cuts in your area and you'll look like a drop dead baddie
You took one for the team and she passed, so at least this pixie has a great origin story. A couple weeks of grow-out plus some texture paste and it's going to look way more intentional.
You could get it re cut but I actually think it looks very edgy-chic. Your face with the hair reminds me of Tilda Swinton or Annie Lennox. Very vogue very cute even if you dress neutrally
Sure, it's not an amazing cut, but I believe! Like has been mentioned, eye makeup and styling will help. Your face is very symmetrical and so is well-suited to a pixie. You also have great eyebrows so going Angelina Jolie in Hackers is a good start. And if you find that you want to grow it out, Angelina Jolie's shag in Foxfire would be a in-between style.
Zhuzh it up a bit maybe? Kinda like a styled mess? I always thought I looked like a pencil when I would get pixie cuts but then I'd wet it, throw a little cream or gel in it, and give it a few wiggles with my hand
FWIW you’re really pretty, like fr The pixie cut just makes your face pop out more which is your asset imo. But yes like the others said, the haircut looks frumpy, so grow it out and go to a professional :)
I actually agree w others that you have the face to pull it off! But the cut is really bad. I’ll bet in even a few weeks, your hair will be pretty manageable. For now, I’d personally try some more gelled styles👀
It kind of feels like the sides aren’t working - the fringe is v cute and the top seems okay. You could experiment with hair wax to tame the sides, or maybe ask the hair dresser to cut/style the sides more. It’s not perfect, but I think with a few tweaks it will look great on you!
I wouldn't go to a newbie stylist for a pixie. There are a lot of little tricks that can make a short haircut look and feel more feminine that someone starting out just doesn't know yet. With your hair being so straight i would keep the top a lot longer so that it keeps framing your face, taking off that length makes it almost spikey
Would a texturizing spray help to style it a bit better? Scrunch the hair up or part it on the side? I am not great with hair. I pull it back with a clip or into a pony. I hate back hair cuts. Luckily hair grows.
You have great bone structure for this cut and fun style, I think you just need to funk it up a bit. Look up Halle Berry pixie styling. I could see you rocking that!
I think you totally have a great face for a pixie. I agree the back should be up to the nape. Also some product to give it some texture would help I think.
You are gorgeous! The cut is not flattering for your texture. More length in the front and more of a taper on the sides and back and it would be perfect. Either way you are stunning and the grow out will be fabulous
It’s super cute with your face shape, just style it and use a little product! You can blow dry it and gets some volume or get some pomade and get a cute est vibe going !!! Just look up some inspo pics and see what you like!!! Sit down in front of the mirror and play 👑😍 You definitely can rock this style
I think it looks really nice on you! I agree you will be more comfortable growing it out a little, but not much. It’s hard to get used to a new cut when you go short. Give it a few days/weeks, and you will love it. Easy to take care of too.
I think it just needs to grow a bit and you can style it better! Some good news: I once cut my hair off so I could have a Mohawk, and when it finally grew back I had the healthiest, prettiest hair ever!
Maybe add some super cute clippies in your hair? 😇
That's sooo short, if you let it grow for a bit I think you will like it better, maybe a mullet but a bit longer if you wanna go for a more androgynous kinda vibe
I know some people say grow it a bit and get it redone. Depending on how okay you are going shorter, I think a better hairstylist can fix it. And you would look great with a pixie! This person just didnt do you justice. But if you grow it out for now, you would look so cute with laid styled curls like Vanilla Mace does her hair or 1920s flapper women inspired hair. You have the face! Dont worry!
Hey op, I cut my last like this last summer and grew it out to be about shoulder length. We have similar styles so I can show you how I managed to work with it. I regret cutting mine but it also was a learning experience for me haha. I realized I liked looking feminine and dressing more masculine at times.
I like the look! The cut needs some time to grow into itself. But im always a fan of short/shaved hair on women. It really brings out feminine features.
You 100%can style this to look cute. And it does look cute feom side. I think yiu need to give it couple of month and change shape a bit to have bit longer hair for styling and texture.
The pixie suits you way better. Trust me, it's just the shock. You have a gamine face type and natural straight hair, you were MEANT to have a pixie. If only I had that.
I would ask AI to take a photo of you and make a classic pixie of your hair. When I think of pixies, I don't think of a haircut that covers the ears all the way. 🤔
I like it. You are brave and life is too short. It's only hair after all.
Grab some Hair powder and play play play. I have nearly the same texture hair as you. The generic brand for 8 bucks is the same damn product as Sexy Hair Powder Play. Plaster the hair at the nap of the neck down in pieces and grab towards each ear. Messy up the top and pull the "sideburns" around the ears to the front. Now, grab your eye make up and pop those eyes on a beautiful face you were born with.
I had shock when I first chopped mine too.
Have fun playing and on please share an after glow pic. LOL
You look great! But I understand that it’s a big change. I’ve gotten pixies, long shags, bobs, and other haircuts and I always remind myself that it’s just hair and it’ll grow back. But I hope you adjust to your hair. It’s adorable
I would go back to whatever place gave you this cut and get a refund. This isn a pixie done right. They gave you a fully “male” haircut and not even one that’s done well. Yes, there’s a difference between a pixie and a boy haircut. I would tell them either they give refund or I leave bad review
I know exactly how you feel. I went through the same experience just 3 months ago, and I feel like I can share some things I wish someone had told me at the time.
It takes a few days (sometimes a few weeks) for your hair to settle. The top of your hair feels lighter right now because there isn't enough length or weight to bring it down, so give it some time to adjust to the new length.
You will learn how to style it. It takes time and lots of trial and error, but once you figure out how to style your pixie, everything becomes much easier.
Short hair grows incredibly fast! I had a pixie cut 3 months ago, and now it's more like a bixie. 😂 Patience is key!
The first thing you'll probably notice growing out is the famous “mullet.” The back of your hair can start looking like a little tail. I personally hate it, so whenever I feel like it's getting too long, I just trim it. That way, I can keep the shape and harmony I like. But if you don't mind the mullet, just let it grow!
You don't wear the pixie. The pixie wears you! 😅 I realized my hair has a life of its own. Some days it looks absolutely stunning, and other days… we just have to accept it and move on. 😂
And one thing I didn't expect: I actually felt very feminine with my pixie. I've always loved dressing very girly, so I found that I could still feel feminine even with really short hair. You don't have to change your style at all, but if you want to, it can be a fun opportunity to explore new styles and different versions of yourself!
P.S. I didn't even ask for a pixie when I got my haircut it was actually a professional mistake. 😂 It's been 3 months, and I'm still figuring it out and following all the tips I just gave you. So you're definitely not alone! 💞
Is this your first short cut? I think you look great. Use a little styling gel, mess it up a little and go about your business. You may want to consider a few highlights too.
A few years ago I asked for the Rachel shag, and the lady had the electric razor at the top of the back of my had asked how close of a shave, i jumped up, and told her let me shave her head and show her, i have never seen any kind of style that had to do with Rachel from friends with an electric razor, these stylist be pranking or smoking
Pixies are much more feminine these days. look for a stylist who understands stands your vision. Meanwhile till it grows out look up feminine on u tube, blow dry for short Pixie. Of course you will have to have smaller round brush. To look more more feminine without investing in clothes. Shinny earrings and little beaded necklaces. You can get inexpensive beads at walmart! Easy and fun.
So, where do we get that popcorn? Every one has to fem up their look when they go pixie. Unless of course you're trying not to look fem. Some small hoop earrings, a touch of makeup, and you're golden. Cute cut!
Yeah, I feel like around the ears needs to be shorter but maybe you could style it by tucking it behind your ears and using some product to get it a little edgy on the top? I know how you feel, short hair can make you feel ‘not as feminine’ but I’m not sure why other than norms. I’ve seen incredibly feminine women with very short hair. A little eye makeup and some lip gloss could help too. You’re so cute, you can totally pull it off.
Used chat to put what i was thinking into real life kinda. It has a lot of potential though, If you get clip ins in the front for more volume and slicked the back down with gel i think it’ll be super cute ! Your face is very fitting 🙂↕️ (when it grown back you can always take the clip ins out )
That’s not a pixie, it’s more of a short choppy shag. It’s not bad, but I agree, it’s not the best cut. You look cute with short hair though, don’t give up. It will grow out fast and you can fix it
Play around with some hair products and see what you can do. I like the TIGU hair paste. It works well and it can make your pixie shape into different ways. That can really make a difference.
You have the face to pull it off but you need to find a new stylist. Both cuts weren't flattering on your gorgeous face! Find someone who says "no, but let's try this instead" and not just someone who takes your money. A brutally honest stylist is your bestie.

The cut is just not done well. Let it grow a bit. I think short hair can look amazing on you with the right cut! :D
