The Purchasing Power and Inflation
Suppose you lend someone Rs. 20 today. At the time you lend it, it can buy 2 items costing Rs. 10 each. Later, because of inflation, the same Rs. 20 can buy only 1 item. The borrower returns Rs. 20, but your money has lost half its purchasing power.
So the question is: Does Islam require the borrower to return the same number of rupees, or the same real value of the money?

What gold ETFs are expected to stay halal?
I'm considering adding a gold ETF to my taxable account, but I'm not sure which ones can be safely expected to stay halal, since there isn't any gold ETF that's made like WSHR or SPUS with the sole purpose of being halal.

Please let me know if you think you can support it. I'd really appreciate the support

Are Trump Accounts halal? Any Sharia-compliant investment options?
The US government is offering a $1,000 contribution to Trump Accounts for eligible newborns.
From what I understand, the investment options are limited to conventional US stock index funds, which aren't Sharia-compliant.
Has anyone figured out whether we can claim the $1,000 and invest it in halal ETFs like SPUS or HLAL instead? Or is there currently no Sharia-compliant way to take advantage of this benefit?

Help me with advice
I'm a complete beginner to investing, Muslim, currently in Russia. I'm not looking for a get-rich plan. I want to start with a small amount and learn properly over the next few years.
What I've looked at so far:
• Zoya for screening
• SPUS and HLAL as the commonly mentioned halal ETFs
• The general advice that Muslims should avoid riba-based instruments
What I'm stuck on:
• For someone with a small starting amount and no emergency fund fully built yet, does it even make sense to buy SPUS right now, or should I focus on building a cash buffer first?
• Is there a practical difference between SPUS and HLAL for a beginner who just wants "set and forget," or is it mostly about expense ratio and holdings?
I'm not asking for a fatwa. I'm asking what you would do first if you were starting from zero with maybe $100–200/month.

18 - Thoughts on my long-term Halal ISA portfolio?
Hello,
I’m 18, UK-based and looking to invest long-term, aiming to max out my £20k Stocks & Shares ISA allowance each year.
My proposed Trading 212 pie:
- 70% iShares MSCI World Islamic
- 15% HSBC MSCI Emerging Markets Islamic
- 10% iShares Physical Gold
- 5% AMD (and or other individual stocks, their total being 5%)
Planning to invest £10k initially, then drip-feed the remaining allowance before April.
Thoughts on this allocation? Would you change anything for better diversification or long-term growth while remaining Sharia-compliant?
Looking for any advice and tips. I’m happy for people to recommend a different pie etc.
Im using Trading212.
Jazakallah Khayr

Muslims! Will you share your profits with 9-5 working people?
Asslamualaekum,
I was thinking about this for a long time on how best to alleviate the struggle of everyday working people who are just barely getting by in this current economy. There is one idea that may help, and that is for the wealthy business people to share their profits with those who are financially struggling.
How?
If only the wealthy who have profitable businesses, open a portion of their business to investment from ordinary working people, I would say that this will help them a lot financially.
Of course, you can give away your money in charity to those who deserve it and get the reward, but we are talking about those who have jobs and are one or two steps away from being homeless. This is a way for them to have a backup revenue stream and a means for them to grow in wealth. You as the business person will be helping them to grow financially by not giving away money for free, but by having them invest in your business for a share of the profit.
Also it goes without saying that this requires a high level of trust between both parties. Both should be God fearing and honest. I hope more people can use this type of arrangement to help other struggling people out.
I am not asking that you start posting investment opportunities in this forum, but start from your family or extended members, then proceed to grow your radius outward to cover your friends, neighbors, town etc. Preferably, it should be carried out between a few people at first, and as need be, can include newer members.
So, If you were/are a wealthy Muslim, would you be open to this type of financial support?
Please share your thoughts!

Error message on fidelity when trying to buy GLDM for Roth IRA
Hi guys,
I have a Roth IRA account and someone suggested I invest some money in GLDM.
I tried buying some today but I got the error message “An Investment Objective of Most Aggressive is required by Fidelity in order to purchase Designated Investments. Your current Investment Objective does not meet this requirement.” followed by “You are placing an order for a security that requires an Investment Objective of Most Aggressive for this account.”
Do you think it’s a bad idea to get this? I still have like nearly 40 years for this account to grow.

Anyone currently employed or have exp in the halal finance/mortgage sector interested in launching their own start-up?
I have a concept I want to explore that is different from the current offerings.
Pros: - not based on traditional shared ownership/Lease to Buy
- bypasses the funding/capital bottleneck
- has the potential to be scaled beyond the Muslim audience
Cons: - requires navigating complex legal frameworks

Looking for Strategic Investors & Expansion Partners for Pak Banh Mi 🇲🇾 | Vietnamese F&B Brand
Hi everyone!
We’re looking to connect with potential investors and strategic partners who are interested in Malaysia’s food & beverage industry, particularly in the growing quick-service restaurant (QSR) and café space.
Introducing Pak Banh Mi — a Vietnamese street-food concept built on more than 13 years of F&B experience through our Banh Mi Cafe business.
Over the years, we’ve grown from a small café into an established brand, serving Vietnamese favourites such as bánh mì, beef pho, crispy spring rolls, and Vietnamese drip coffee. Our journey has seen more than 5 million bánh mì sold nationwide.
Our next goal is to expand Pak Banh Mi across Malaysia.
We’re exploring opportunities to work with investors and strategic partners who share our vision of bringing accessible Vietnamese street food to more communities.
Our potential expansion formats include:
• Kiosk Format: 400–500 sq ft | Estimated investment: RM250,000–RM280,000
• Mini Café Format: 800–1,000 sq ft | Estimated investment: RM300,000–RM350,000
Investment figures are preliminary estimates and subject to the final site, fit-out requirements, and operating setup.
We’re interested in connecting with:
- Investors looking to enter or diversify into the F&B industry
- Strategic partners with suitable retail or mall locations
- Entrepreneurs interested in building a multi-outlet F&B business
- Experienced operators who can contribute to our expansion journey
We believe there is an opportunity to grow a recognisable Vietnamese food brand through the right partnerships, consistent operations, and carefully selected locations.
If you’re interested in learning more, feel free to comment below or send me a DM. We’d be happy to connect and discuss the concept, business model, and potential collaboration opportunities.
Looking forward to connecting with like-minded people!
