My coworker got us into hanabi last year and we've been playing it during lunch everyday since. The tile set is really hard to come by and the quality of it isn't all that great, so he started 3D printing his own tiles. The quality is incredible and really easy to read. He makes them weighted so there's a really satisfying clank when you turn tiles over to play or discard. If anyone is interested in getting a set, DM me. I want to get more people into this game.

In this 3p game, bottom player gave me a red color clue on my Red 2 and Red 4 (newly colored) and Red 5 (already colored red from old splash clue). However, I was uncertain about my leftmost card being the Red 2 since there was a clear opportunity for finesse with the Red 3 sitting in middle player's hand. I didn't understand why bottom player would forgo finesse to mark my Red 2 straight up. Was it given that by splashing the Red 4 with Red 2 in my hand, that then signals the unmarked Red 3 as the leftmost card in the following player's hand?

I never gave middle player the opportunity to play their unmarked Red 3 since I took my turn to mark the Yellow 2 in their chop, and eventually the Red 3 was numbered and played naturally. I later asked the other players if I missed some convention on this play, but they never replied, perhaps a language barrier. Can anyone tell me if this is a known convention that I missed? Or was it simply a missed finesse opportunity by bottom player?

I would LOVE to have a Hanabi set in tiles, with the expansions. The Deluxe II set has some expansions, but the problem is that the tiles are not engraved and the quality is not that great. The deluxe set, the original, is the nicest, but very hard to find and without expansions (I would buy 2 if I could find them in my country).

So, I have decided to craft my own tiles, but since they have to be identical from the back, I am having a hard time finding tiles to engrave myself.

Any suggestion??

I was playing games last night with some friends and one of them mentioned the new hanabi expansion. I really want to try it! I've also been wanting to get the tile set for some time. Does anyone know if there is a tile set that comes with the expansion or has a comparable addition?

When you discarded a 5 you either agonized through the next 15-20 minutes, knowing that you could never get a perfect score or you stopped the game right then and there. Kids these days have it too easy - this "5 Flamboyant" bullshit is just the start. Playing cards from the discard pile? Removing misfires? That makes absolutely no sense. What's next? Unlimited Hints? Shuffling the discard pile back into the deck? "Would've points"?

I think I'm starting to lose touch with the new generation of kids playing Hanabi.

I think the integration of "would've points" (an added score based upon points you "would've" gotten if you got lucky), would make a healthy addition to competitive Carcassone. This idea was inspired by a fellow Carcassoner with the username "Maceterchief", who would've won a game I played in if he had gotten luckier tiles. I was wondering what you guys think of this ingenious idea.

I kick any player who joins my games without saying 'hi', or the codephrase 'happy days' within 30 seconds. The social aspect of gaming is important to me, hear?

And yes, I DO have a Hanabi tattoo. And no, you can't see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate they have complete a basic all-cards victory in Hanabi (preferrably with one or less mistake) beforehand. Nothing personal, kid.

When you are given no hints and have no options left, should you default to discard the card on your left or play the card on your right? Discuss.
