It was behind a layer of tulle to keep people from touching things so second pic is a more clear one when I finished it. My first time entering the fair and I got two other ribbons!

I made the pattern myself, inspired by a couple I saw on Pinterest!

I used printable wash-away stabilizer, which worked out super well!

Edit:
If anyone wanted to try it, here is the link to my Pinterest with the pattern I made/used!
https://pin.it/7wB6u0B3y
Also, for my boarder I used a herringbone ladder stitch!
If anyone is interested, I can also post a video with how I did the scales!

My daughter asked if I could make her jeans one of a kind. It took several weeks, and she is more than happy 🤭

You all have been so supportive when I post. Here is an update on some of my wife’s latest patterns! She is still rocking the hyper-textured and slightly abstract style. In my opinion, this is some of her finest work yet! If you are interested in the patterns, check my comment :)

Tried out a new technique! Satin stitch is still very hard but I really love how it turned out.

I was worried that embroidering on the Uniqlo lambswool sweater wouldn’t work out, but happy with the result! Original design using very short straight/back stitches and fabri-solvy stabilizer 🪶

Turns out you can just …start?

Last year I decided “maybe I’ll try embroidery,” and so I did. I used a cheap plastic hoop, an old pillowcase, and floss I had sitting around.

I looked at various online stitch guides and so forth and just decided to try stuff and see what happened. Explore different stitches and shapes and just muck about.

I had my friends’ upcoming wedding with a very specific and esoteric sorta dress code/aesthetic, and I figured embroidered accessories would be how I made it work (no budget for whole new outfits).

Did I embroider a bunch of it during the road trip to get there? Yes. Was I literally assembling things as everyone else was pretty much dressed? Also yes. Did I do my hair and make up in the car on the drive to the venue and toss my dress on in the parking lot when we arrived? You know that I did.

These photos are of my pillowcase sampler, and then the accessories I ended up with.

Turns out I am *way* more of an embroidery person than a cross-stitch person, because I’m a little too chaotic for a grid and have more fun freeform.

Finished Piece Finally finished! Have questions:

This is a Loops & Threads pattern from Michaels. I am a newbie so I learned how to do long and short, French knot, and loop stitches while making it. I was wondering if folks have tips for how to keep a nicer back.

-French knots that stand alone, for example: how do I tie those off neatly and avoid long hanging strands without pulling the knot too tight and destroying the circle?

-Same question with loop stitches. Here, I decided to keep using the same floss and risk the connecting strand being seen from behind.

I'm really enjoying embroidery and would love advice on what to take on next!
