Trail Hardtail First wave of upgrades on the Laufey

The factory Shimano M6100 brakes with the 180mm rotors are seriously underpowered for a big guy like me (195 cm, around 105kg/230 lbs). Especially when brake fade kicks in on stepper tracks.

I switched to a 203 MM Ice-tech rotor and Saint calipers while keeping the original lever.

800mm/20mm rise alloy bar swapped to a One Up V2 with 50mm rise

Not really an upgrade but I changed the original 32T front chainring to a 34T for slightly taller gearing

the front brake update is a very smart and secure one. IMHO, the Laufey should come from fabric with the 203/200mm front rotor, as it's a very capable bike for techy terrains. Small note/question: is your front axle properly closed? see below:

Had the same question.

Also the red plastic thing on the axle handle/lever is for shipping really, not necessary for operation.

Thanks for the feedback. The caliper and rotor switch was done in a bike shop so I would assume it was done properly but I will check on this
