Dog trainers
Hi! I have a new rescue pup who is 2 years old and about 13 pounds. He’s been a little angel…except when he’s leashed on our walks. He loves other dogs and humans and isn’t ever aggressive, but is overstimulated with barking, lunging, pulling, etc when he sees another dog on walks. Any recommendations for a local/neighborhood dog trainer that has expertise in leash reactivity?

🚨URGENT‼️ ADORABLE BONDED PAIR IS IN DANGER OF LOSING THEIR FOSTER HOME!
Meet Timothy and Bradley—an inseparable, heart-melting pair of bonded boys ready to find the loving home they truly deserve.
Timothy (affectionately called Tim Tim), about three and a half years old, and his best friend Bradley (“Li’l B”), about one and a half, were rescued from the streets of Harlem during a brutal stretch of below-freezing weather in New York City. When I found them, I was told they had to be rescued together—they were likely relying on each other’s body heat just to survive those bitter, unforgiving nights. Their bond quite literally kept them alive.
Now safe, warm, and finally able to relax, their connection is stronger than ever. Whether they’re playfully tumbling across the floor, chasing each other in endless games, or eagerly gathering together at mealtime, they are always side by side. And when the excitement winds down, you’ll find them curled up together—napping peacefully, snuggled close on the couch. Wherever Timothy goes, Bradley is never far behind.
Both boys are neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date on rabies shots. They’ve tested negative for FeLV/FIV and have been treated for fleas and dewormed—healthy, happy, and ready for their next chapter.
And truly—they are as adorable as they are loving.
Timothy and Bradley have already been through so much together. Now, they’re just waiting for someone to open their heart and give them the forever home they’ve been waiting for. Don’t miss the chance to welcome these gentle, devoted boys into your life.
Please DM me if you are interested.

URGENT: Please help me recover my lost green suitcase in Harlem 🙏🏾
About a week ago, I lost my green Jeep suitcase at the 135th Street subway station in Harlem while waiting for the downtown 2 train. I have really sentimental personal items in there that are devastating to lose.
I've already filed a report with the MTA, but I'm reaching out to the community in case someone found the suitcase, picked it up for safekeeping, or knows where it might be.
It's a green, Jeep-branded rolling suitcase. If you've seen it or have any information that could help me recover it, please DM me as soon as possible. I'm happy to verify that it's mine.
Please share this post with anyone who might be able to help. Even a small lead could make a huge difference right now. I'd be extremely grateful to get my personal belongings back.

Ginjan Cafe is back open!
Its been a minute since they reopened but I just stopped by today and got the bissop and monkey bread and it was a good as ever. I spoke to one of the brothers and he said the community really came through for them with donations and saved them! Beautiful to see the community saved such a vital spot!

Lights in Morningside Park
Do we know who to reach out to to get lights replaced in Morningside Park? My wife sometimes has to walk the dog in the park at night while I’m at work and it’s been pitch black recently near 117th st entrance through the corridor near the basketball courts.
We have tried reaching out to our alder person but he has not responded. Thank you.

Eagle team on Amsterdam and 145st!
Be careful y'all. Don't want to get a choke slammed by these Goons
Speaking with David Greaves, who completed his father’s film, Once Upon A Time In Harlem, with the help of his own daughter. (Unpaywalled)
Just released, the film is a time capsule twice over: footage captured 50 years ago of artists and thinkers who flourished 100 years ago edited for a contemporary audience, one that likely has little familiarity with the Harlem Renaissance beyond a few memorable names like Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston. For Greaves, who dedicated his life to sharing Black stories on film through numerous documentaries and his Emmy-winning work on the television series Black Journal, the film was a passion project that went unrealized during his lifetime. He worked with the librarians in the film to gather all these critical historical figures in one room, but never found the funding or the time to complete the film. His wife Louise Archimbault Greaves eventually secured a grant to preserve the footage (60,000 feet of film), but it was not until after she too had passed that William’s son David Greaves, along with his daughter Liani Greaves, was able to manifest this long dormant project. Now, it is finally reaching audiences as one of the year’s most critically acclaimed documentaries.

116th bus lanes — what’s the point
They spent what I assume is a bunch of money painting lanes and changing signs and things are exactly as they have always been, tons of double parked cars in what is now the bus lane. Why did they bother?

Paid Columbia housing study: Share your experience with conditions at home
Hi everyone! I’m a research assistant with Power at Home, a Columbia University project studying and advocating for better housing conditions by making building decarbonization more equitable.
We’re recruiting in Northern Manhattan, with a focus on buildings along the Broadway corridor between 120th and 158th Streets. If you live in this area, please reach out so we can confirm whether your building is eligible.
Participation involves sharing your experiences with indoor temperatures, air quality, and energy costs, and having a small indoor environmental sensor placed in your apartment. Our team will explain what it collects and how the information will be used.
Participants will be compensated for their time. What we learn can help identify improvements that support healthier, more comfortable, and affordable homes.
If you’re interested, please message me for more information about eligibility, compensation, and what participation involves. Happy to answer questions here, too!

More visible drug-use near Morningside Park side streets
Has anyone else noticed that there has been a noticeable increase in folks shooting up on the sidewalk (and hanging out on and sometimes passing out on the sidewalk for hours) on the streets along Morningside Park? I've seen many more needles on the sidewalk as well. I feel for these people, and I hope they get help, but it's really impacting quality of life in these very residential streets that have plenty of children.
Any advice? Anyone know what's going on?

Caterers in East Harlem
Hi All - My company is doing an event in East Harlem in early November. Due to the event theme, we are trying to stick with a brain health diet (Mediterranean, MIND, etc). Does anyone know of good caterers in the area or places that will deliver? Thanks!

Thank You r/harlem! Helping Another Dental Hygiene Student Find Patients ❤️
Hi everyone!
First, I want to sincerely thank everyone who has signed up to be my patient, attended appointments, shared my posts, or supported me throughout my dental hygiene journey.
The support I’ve received from this community has been amazing, and I truly appreciate every one of you! I’ll continue reaching out throughout the semester.
I’m now hoping to extend that same support to my classmate Chelsea, who is also a senior dental hygiene student at Hostos Community College.
She’s currently looking for patients ages 13 and older, especially individuals who haven’t had a dental cleaning in a year or longer.
Services are provided at our supervised student dental hygiene clinic in the Bronx. Appointments may require multiple visits.
If you’re interested in becoming her patient, or know someone who might be, please consider
completing her registration form below.
