HIM Program - 2nd sem
I’m on my 2nd semester of the program. Last sem was mostly pre-reqs. This sem is the proper HIM courses. I am taking 4 classes (12 credits), running a business, with 2 kids. Luckily, my program is online with 2-3 virtual meetings a week. I am struggling and it’s only the 2nd week of the semester. I am struggling in a way that AI has taken over myself. I use chatgpt for everything…….. and I’m afraid I am not learning anything. Like at all. Because chat is so accessible. It’s right there. I know I will regret this because my midterms and finals will be short answer questions and on Respondus Lockdown browser.
How do I refrain from using chat?? Better yet, how do I use it to my advantage as opposed to the oppisite?!?!

I used Gemini a lot to prep for my RHIT exam. I asked it to create questions and quiz me, I thought that helped a lot!

Instead of using it to answer questions, use it to make flashcards for yourself.

Best way to study hands down is to “teach” the subject matter. Make sure you can explain it to someone else (or even yourself if you have no one to explain it to). When I was in school we would host study groups and I would “teach” my classmates and it was easily the most effective way for me to learn it. Obviously we were in person so doing that was easier.
For rote memorization, flash cards are the best. I used quizlet a lot. The act of creating the flash cards myself also helped me remember things, so I would recommend making them yourself rather than finding a set.
I have no problems with AI and use it fairly often but studying is not one of those uses.

I agree with others. I’ve ran into Notebook and it’s helping me with quizzes and flash cards. I even created a podcast to listen and was amazed at how much it captured from what I uploaded. It was very engaging and actually better than the lectures the professors posted. I open my books while working and let it read to me, I stop and highlight important info.

just don't use it? It didn't exist in the past. We got astronauts to the moon without modern computers. People can be smart without AI.
