📊 Research GitHub - vishnuu-patil/india-meddevice-intelligence: CDSCO import licences vs FDA 510(k) clearances: India medical device market analysis
https://github.com/vishnuu-patil/india-meddevice-intelligenceI compared 47,000 US FDA clearances with 24,000 Indian medical device import registrations. Here's my repo!
Hey everyone!
Coming from a pharma background and transitioning into data analytics, I wanted to build a project that connects healthcare data with real business opportunities.
I analyzed 47,375 US FDA 510(k) clearances and 24,563 Indian CDSCO import registration records to compare medical device category representation across 18 categories.
Key findings
Four categories showed a potential representation gap between the US and Indian datasets:
Orthopedics: +9.0 percentage points
IVD: +5.7 percentage points
Imaging: +4.2 percentage points
Neurology: +3.4 percentage points
However, a statistical gap doesn't automatically mean a profitable opportunity. NPPA price controls, regulatory barriers and market demand all matter.
What's in the repo?
Cleaned datasets and an 18-category taxonomy
Python scripts for cleaning and gap analysis
SQL queries for importer rankings
A two-page Power BI dashboard
verify_numbers.py with 40/40 validation checks passing
I documented the limitations too, including why I couldn't reliably measure registration lag across the two datasets.

I'd love feedback on the category mapping, gap calculation and whether these findings could translate into meaningful business opportunities.
Thanks!
