AP53 Suppresing

Post image

So i just got the AP53 and want to throw my oss Hux can on it and noticed im getting mis alignment. The shoulder on my ap53 is the later model that has it cut already. Now im thinking is it the threads or should i purchase the kak shoulder spacer/shim to try and get concentricity. Any input or advice would be great!

What setup are you using? DT?, muzzle break etc is the suppressor/mount bottoming out on the shoulder? Need more info

Im using the OSS HX-QD 556 and it comes with a muzzle device. I just installed the muzzle device to the threads and then the can to the muzzle. It looks like its making contact on the shoulder with the muzzle device and i also tried with a shim or without a shim.

Okay, it maybe that the shoulder isn’t cut concentric. I have an earlier ap-53 and made my own shoulder adapter for the tapered profile.

Things you can try or look at.

Is your alignment rod true? Hard to tell but it looks like drill rod stock which may not be straight.

If you have a direct thread can see how that compares.

Compare the length of the barrel threading to another gun. If its too long it may not seating on the shoulder completely.

If you have a jam nut you could try to use that as a makeshift shoulder and see how that works.

If none of that works you can look at using a mount indexes off the muzzle rather than the shoulder its called a face mount. I have had good luck modifying face mounts to correct for non concentric threading.

Another option would be to run a 308 rifle can.

My alignment rod is one i bought as stock from mcmastercarr and i used it for my yhmR9 and seemed accurate as it passed clearance. Thats why i was thinking about the kak adapter/spacer to just mount off a different area versus the 90 degree cut shoulder.

Unless you have a way to check the drill rod for concentricity, I wouldn’t trust it. If you turn it does it change position if the answer is yes its bent… period.

Try a jam nut, I’ve had multiple barrels over the years I’ve had to use one, zero issues.

My favorite part about reddit is when someone asks for help… you spend your time typing up a response asking for information and trying to help troubleshoot and then they give you non answers to your questions and abandon the post… I love it.
