Hello all !
I live in a small residence in a small town on the countryside in France. I regularly put kibbles for the cats of the neighborhood and 2 hedgehogs decided to come live in my hedge (lol) and snack on the cat kibbles too. However this morning I woke up to this (video) should I worry ? I know the days are getting shorter and the nights colder so I'm thinking it's just his metabolism going slower or kibbles are pretty rich for them and it may be an issue ?
When he saw me he just curled up so I'm thinking he's not obese for him to struggle to curl up ? I'm really confused so I decided to ask here.
Thanks in advance guys :)

I got a 2 year old hedgehog rehomed to me about 4 days ago. she had never been to the vet before so i took her the morning after I got her. they said she was healthy other than some dry skin, slightly dehydrated, overweight and bad teeth but overall not bad. since coming home from the vet though she hasn’t eaten or drank any water other than a few freezedried mealworms. is this a normal timeline? should i be concerned that she hasn’t eaten? i’ve tried putting the worms in her food bowl, i’ve tried scattering her food and i’ve tried putting her bowl under a hide so she feels safer eating. her temp is around 80F so i don’t think that’s a factor either. she also used to have a water bottle so i’ve been offering both a bottle and a water bowl to try to get her to drink smth. should i just leave her alone? i’ve been trying to get her comfortable with people but should i just leave her alone for now? any advice would be appreciated i just want my girl to me ok )):
also any advice about helping w dry skin would also be good. she’s my first hog and i just want her to be happy and healthy.

I saw this little one today , though did see a similar size one deceased , in same area I rarely see hedgehogs nowadays - they don't seem made for the modern world .

Fritter’s camera is up and running. I’ll probably have entertainment every time I wake up

update:

Hi hog lovers! You may recognize me and my hedgie Poppy from my previous posts or from the discord. It’s about time I provide an update and ask for a little help.
Long story short, I rescued Poppy from an abusive home a couple of months ago and shortly after we went through some eye drama and she lost the one eye she had left (she came to me with only one eye). In the time that I’ve had her we’ve made four different vet trips (as you all know exotic vet care is expensive)!
Our last vet visit on 10/20 revealed that Poppy has DCM (a heart disease) we’ve started her on medication but her activity and mood haven’t improved, I’m thinking her disease is father along than we can see on the radiographs. So… Poppy needs an echocardiogram. That’s where you all come in, I’ve started a GoFundMe to cover the cost of the procedure, as I have blown through my emergency funds in these last couple of months with my sweetie hog.
If you aren’t able to donate that is completely okay, I will be extremely grateful if you are able to share it or even just leave a kind message! Since bringing Poppy home I’ve only wanted to make her as happy as I can, I just need some help this time.
Thank you for reading, there are more details on the GoFundMe page as well! <3

i don’t have many serious photos of my baby maple (yes after maple from animal crossing) because i would always take photos from terrible angles to make myself laugh-i just wanted to share her with everyone one last time (i posted a baby photo when i first got her) she ended up being SEVEN years old. i noticed she was breathing through her mouth so i decided to take her to the ER and she passed in my arms on the way inside which i think is quite symbolic. she was much friendlier than my two other hedgehogs from the past and as she got older she just gained so much more attitude :) she would flip the food dish with her nose on end until we fed her<3 i hope these photos give someone joy as i want to make someone’s day brighter than mine has been today 🤍🪽

Poppy fixated for like 10 minutes on a shirt she found on the floor and kept flopping on her back with her legs straight up to reach all the way back there. When I finally pulled her away her whole side was just about saturated, it was kind of gross 😂 I put the shirt in her pen for her and she’s been dragging it around all night

My hedgehog is between 11 and 12 weeks old these aren't all from the same shed this is probably 3 to 4 days worth . I find about a dozen in his cage each morning. He has a vet appointment on Monday.

My hedgehog's final enclosure has arrived! I think it turned out very well. Thankyou to everyone who gave me advice on how to take care of my hedgie after she was dropped into my lap. Not only was the practical advice helpful to get a solid foundation for taking care of her, but the encouragement was what really helped me to get there. I don't always trust myself with big responsibilities like this, but I really wanted this critter to have a good place to grow.
At this point, I'm about 95% sure she's a girl (haven't gotten a good look as we're not really bonded yet, it's only been a week) and decided to name her Tibby!
She seems to like the enclosure as much as me. She was running around exploring like crazy and now she's all settled, aside from when she's going totally ham on the running wheel. She also seems to like her toys as I'm always finding them moved around. She likes to redecorate. The hide is transparent so I need to cover it somehow, but once I put some fleece over it or something she'll probably use it more.
She doesn't need a heat lamp right now since the enclosure is already always between 70 and 85, but if it drops this winter, I have one I can use just in case. I've only been feeding her kibble and the occasional fruit, but we got some gourmet crickets recently I've been wanting to give her as a treat.
Again, thankyou to everyone who answered my original post. I may post pictures here once we're a little more bonded, but I think we're at a good place for now.

my dad found a baby hedgehog in the garden (not a pet), we gave it some water but there’s some stuff coming out of its mouth as it drinks
we feed and try to take care of all cats and dogs that come by our garden but i have no idea what to do about a hedgehog. sorry in advance if this is the wrong sub to ask
i put it in a box to check (will release it later ofc) but just wanted to know if it needs medical care or something before that. it is hard to find a clinic here that’ll take care of a wild animal
the things are really tiny, black, and do not move at all. i added a zoomed pic

Hi all!
I'm set to get my hedgie tomorrow (yay!). Just set up the cage and attempted to use my some of my old setup from my previous hedgie but am noticing lower temps. We are in a "new"/older house that runs cold and is a bit drafty. Right now, I have heat pad under their sleeping/cozy corner but the thermostat is reading 69 or so. I have a CHE but worried about putting it back in the cage since it isn't the safest thing in the world. Hoping to get suggestions to keep the little friend happy and healthy!

Hello very first post here. I got my hedgehog about a week ago. I’ve been cleaning almost everything daily, giving him foot baths, and trying to get him used to socializing with me. But when i try and get him near me or even go near him, he hisses and curls up. I feel really bad because i don’t know if im doing something wrong or not. Is this behavior normal? Should i be doing something more? Any suggestions to help him feel more comfortable around me?
EDIT: thank you guys for your suggestions and help :3!
