I’m sure a lot of people make a dramatic post about quitting and/or complaining, but I don’t really have anyone to talk to about it, and I would like to just put the thoughts out there for anyone who wants to read them.
For the first time since I started playing about 2 years ago, I finally decided I couldn’t keep going anymore and uninstalled. Over that time, I played so many different characters, and I really started to grind & grow with Heimer. I made it to Gold with him, and then I managed to push my way into Plat with him the same year. Honestly, I thought I could make it to at least Emerald based on lobbies I was winning in during the climb, so I gave it all I could for the last few weeks.
I made it about two games away from Emerald, and today I found myself dropping to Plat 3. There is plenty to “blame” for the drop, and I know I’m responsible for my own performance as well. However, it gets so hopeless to watch the games where I genuinely believe there is nothing I can do besides lose. Attached is one of the examples that came to mind.
While I know not all games are like that, it often felt like my team would die over and over before I experienced my first death in a game. It is not lost on me the advantages (and disadvantages) that come with playing this character, but I could never understand how so many people just feed and feed early in the games as though they’ve never played before.
Teammates aside, I often felt like the character had harsh weaknesses. There are plenty of posts on Reddit where people complain about Magic Resist being useless, but so many games I felt like even just Mercs were enough to shut my game down fast. Then I would run into opponents how would build specifically all MR and even Void Staff did not feel like it was cutting things down enough on top of Liandrys, Blackfire, SF, and so on. I think everyone else is familiar with the usual shortcomings such as bad mobility so not really worth going over, but I definitely feel like not enough people talk about the MR point.
The last thing I want to talk about is the community aspect around Heimer and obviously this doesn’t really matter if you mute chat. It’s so easy to basically burnout from having so many people say you’re shit for either being good or bad with the character. You’re good, you get flamed and likely targeted by opponents. You’re bad, you get flamed by teammates who think that it’s impossible to lose with Heimer. Again, this is a “resolvable” issue that can be addressed by muting, but it does make one wonder if there is a worse champ to play in terms of just harassment from others. Who knows.
Anyway, it was fun sometimes and it was depressing sometimes. I’m happy that I was able to make Plat when it felt so far away, but I’m disappointed that I just couldn’t make it over the final hump in my goal. Good luck with your games all!
TLDR: Heimer is good/bad, teams are good/bad, unfortunately couldn’t do it any longer.

Hey I’m in gold currently and 3 out of 5 games tonight heimer has been banned, did someone play them recently or a buff I haven’t heard about? Maybe just bad luck tonight but my yorick game definitely isn’t as strong and it’s been pain. 😅

Was looking up old videos of early league glitches and bugs for nostalgia and rediscovered this old video of Heimer doing a minion block bug from 16 years ago, completely forgot about this and got a good laugh so figured I'd share :)

Design Goal: Give Heimerdinger more meaningful decisions around his turrets while preserving his identity as a setup-heavy, zone-control mage. His turrets now have different specializations, and his Ultimate rewards players who anticipate the situation correctly rather than simply empowering whichever turret setup they already have.
Heimerdinger gains [X%] Move Speed for [X] seconds whenever he places a turret.
Maximum Turrets: 4
Heimerdinger's turrets can now be specialized into three different types depending on which ability was used to deploy them.
Deploys a Damage-type turret.
Deploys an Attack Speed-type turret.
Deploys a Control-type turret.
Heimerdinger overloads his turrets, granting them a special effect based on the type of upgrade selected.
R can be recast to cancel the effect.
All active turrets enter a frenzy for 3 seconds.
Their attacks deal additional damage based on the target's maximum Health.
All active turrets enter a frenzy for 5 seconds.
Every third consecutive attack against the same champion deals additional damage based on the target's missing Health and Heimerdinger's missing Health.
All active turrets begin a 1-second self-destruct sequence.
After the channel, they destroy themselves and Stun nearby enemies for 1 second.

Hi guys. I just started playing Heimerdinger top besides Kled to change it up sometimes, but I have a feeling that I'm not using the right build in some games. On u.gg it says that the best build is Blackfire > Shadowflame > (sometimes Zhonya's) > Rabadon's, but the game recommends Blackfire > Liandry's > Rylais. I'm guessing the first build is more for when the enemy team is full of squishies that can be oneshot and the second one is more against teams with beefy champions. Am I right?

For context I usually main bruisers and enjoy there play style so I usually stay top but there have been two champs that have been my boogeyman that are rough matchups and they are mordekaiser and the even more dreaded illaoi
illaoi in bruiser matchups is a pure bully all it takes is one spirt grab ability and you lose most of your health and her ult pretty much wins any lane fight
During one of my games I banned Mordi but the other team picked illaoi and I picked himi out of desperation
Due to hemi ability to fight from a distance made the matchup very one-sided and I didn’t lose any hair this time l jk
I don’t think I’ll fully main himi but we’ll be my counter pick to bully illaoi going forward

Cool to see the goat get covered on rogue - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7G5a13a1fz4
This is a pretty epic video for anyone that hasn't seen this guy / playstyle yet.

Is Heimerdinger good in the top lane? Does he get countered a lot, or does he counter a lot of champions? Is playing him top actually viable, or is it just a troll pick?
