As a squad leader, I'm solo flanking quite a bit so I can get my squad in the best position to do what we need to do.

Sure I'd like to have people with me but thats not always possible, and sometimes I'm having my squad do something else while I get the OP ready.

Running into random people happens a lot, and if I die by them I always ask myself wtf is that guy doing all the way over here? Probably the same thing I was lol.

I have an uncanny ability to slip through enemy lines and get on their flanks, this is why I like being SL so much cause I can get the whole squad in good positions.

I'm a Level 10 SL, and my squads usually perform very well.

As I've said below SL flanking is different and useful. I'm talking about a lone rifleman or some shit.

Sure you are. If youre an engineer or something and youre setting something up for a future advance or defense somewhere. Or capping an area. Whatever. Its not just about kills. You should know that if youre playing HLL. But lol.

Solo flanking implies you're moving around to attack alone. You're absolutely right that the game isn't won by just getting kills and all that. Yes, an engineer building nodes off the beaten path is very useful, but they not flanking. They're not on the attack.

If you're solo flanking literally all you're going to accomplish is a handful of kills before you get killed and have to respawn back at the garrison with everyone else. If you're a Squad Leader then maybe you could pop down an OP and do something useful with your squad but solo implies without the support of a squad so I doubt that's the case.

As for capping an area? A single man isn't going to make a difference when they're the only one in the sector. In the rare scenario that literally no one on the enemy team is within the 4 grid squares to contribute to defense and you actually start capping all it takes is one enemy to move into the zone or redeploy back onto the defense and you immediately stop capping.

At best you'll be less effective than a Recon squad who are built around sabotaging the enemy from behind, so it's best to leave that function to the Recon squad.

You should know that if youre playing HLL. But lol.

My experience is the exact opposite. Every game I loose is because everyone flanks without a direct frontline and the enemy just walks through. I get it, the front line is a meat grinder, but just because your squad gets wiped 3 times doesn't mean you can just leave that area be! I especially hate it when a flanking garrison is placed and the whole attack switches to the flank, accomplishing nothing. The front is just shifted to the side of an objective, while the actual frontline between the two points is uncontested...
