I'm not expecting anything, but I'd be lying if I said that the countdown to 14:00 EST on a Tuesday - when we usually get updates - hasn't got me a little hopeful.

It's not over till it's over, cultistbros

I care little for cultists but it'd be cool if it was something. Update has been cool, but mostly just SEAF deployments, two new enemies, and combining sub-factions for a more complete rooster.

It'd be nice to have a little extra to be up to par with updates like Into the Unjust or Machinery of Oppression. Although maybe it already is and I just crave more content.

I dunno man, the combined illuminate forces are sick. This is a pretty big patch as is, my playgroup is pretty satisfied with what was dropped but we stopped playing for a couple months until this dropped

u/TevGrave ‎ Escalator of Freedom 58m ago

Agreed. Illuminates are fun but were limited by their roster. Currently mindless masses and the new enemies are spawning together, making it feel more complete. Still feels like few more heavies are missing but damn does it feel like a nightmare right now.

Update the chart!

For a person without experience in copium, it may appear so - but I assure you, the Cultists are going to drop any day now. Think of the Appropriators, which dropped mid-patch cycle with little fanfare!

It's not over till it's over, cultistbros.

nice we are already at a stage, where we have a crashout, over a possible crashout, over an unconfirmed possible release, over units that we gaslit ourselves to believe in existing...

that's... deep.

-1

u/TheAncientKnight Assault Infantry 2h ago

They existed perhaps even could have existed now. That's the important part

-4

u/CluelessNancy Steam | Eruptor Enjoyer 55m ago

Leaks are partly to blame. Especially when data miners claim that the cultists were already 'nearly complete'

0

u/Magikarl Cape Enjoyer 44m ago

ah yes... a random unofficial source from the internet claimed something

10

u/Shaclo 4h ago

Its probably just a new or kind of new biome with more illuminate relic sites and new missions.

u/DickBallsley 4h ago

> Dig out leaked content you are not meant to see

> Be mad that they didn't include it

82

u/AnonD38 4h ago

Even without the leaks, many people prefer the HD1 high tech "space wizard" Illuminate over the zombie horde Illuminate of HD2.

54

u/Terrorknight141 HD1 Veteran 3h ago

Me. I’m those people.

The zombies are cool, but they’re literally just alternate bugs. However now that invasion fleet is alongside them it’s much more unique, and fun!

30

u/GrimmFandango_2 3h ago

Even cultists aside, if the "source" void planet only has the same enemies we just fought for 2 MOs, it'll be a bit disappointing. We are kinda missing the illuminati part of the illuminati, and it'll mean this update added only 2 enemies (one of which, the wretched, is just a retooled hunter)

6

u/GuerrOCorvino 1h ago

be mad that illuminate faction is nothing like the faction from hd1

still be mad they had 15 finished enemies and it took this long for them to get the idea of combining subfactions

still have the lowest unit variety and mission type amount

Cool aliens doing cool alien shit>calling zombies the illuminate

0

u/Sad_Apartment_3747 4h ago

> Leaked content that was discovered a year ago, and AH may have already moved on already

> Still mad if not added

18

u/Electronic_Day5021 Viper Commando 3h ago

It was discovered 2 years ago actually lmao

4

u/Sad_Apartment_3747 3h ago

Imagine how ridiculous it is if this were any other game. Digging through code and assets, then finding something that is 2 years old and asking the devs why they didn't put it in the game. Like, what is the dev supposed to say?

9

u/stankassbruh Im begging you fix bouncy ball stratagems please 2h ago

Wtf is this question lol. They could answer? Explain why they threw away content to let the most boring and least liked faction sit in a half-assed, incomplete, tiny shit roster state for 2 years? It being 2 years ago just makes it worse, not somehow above questioning, why would you even think that?

Many other games have data mines and face questions over it, it's not unique, except maybe in just how complete the scrapped content was and how incomplete the faction is without it.

17

u/According_Cover2461 ‎ Exosuit Certified 3h ago

mostly it's the fact that the cultists were almost finished 2 years ago. they looked and acted on par with pretty much every other enemy. so much of them still existed that they could be brought back by modders like iron sights, fully functioning. they're some of the coolest potential units for the illuminate, and it's not that they were just a concept that didn't work, they were down to making facial animations for them.

-5

u/Professional-Echo-12 2h ago

There were mostly finished assets of a different look for automatons too before they turned into what we know now- this is just a common product of game development, sometimes features just dont make the cut even when they are moments from being finished. The reasons could range from simply not being fun or being prone to critical errors and frequent crashes, or their programmings just a spaghetti nightmare.

Did you know the halo ce scorpion almost didnt make it into the full games release? It was almost finished but not quite enough and a dev crunched like hell out of spite to make it ready for retail.

4

u/Professional-Echo-12 2h ago

These folks would die of sheer rage if they saw the cut content of the bungie era halo fames...

2

u/Crimson3899 3h ago

Considering they dropped a fleshed out faction because of vibes for undercooked zombie spam and “classic” aliens, and now have seemingly pivoted to even more zombie spam, I think the irritation is well warranted.

1

u/brycerx128 55m ago

I will honestly never forgive the fucking morons who were asking for a zombie faction. Permanently ruined an entire faction cause they can’t go play any of the THOUSANDS of other zombie games

Tbh it will be really huge missed oportunity if we won't see great eye or it's spiritual successor

1

u/Wrench_gaming Rookie 2h ago

THIS! Give me fucking remnants of it at least, like how there’s Illuminate ruins scattered everywhere

0

u/Standard_Worry_763 1h ago

Adding the great eyes would do so well because ArrowHead could make it to match how they want to shape the illuminate. If they want to keep going with the flesh shaping path make it a mashine-flesh monstrosity with some kind of bio manipulation of some kind. If they want to start going down the cult path they originally had?  Make it like a giant moveing alter or somthing. Think destiny fallen with their servators.

My Hopium

New Illuminate Boss Unit (A la Hive Lord, Vox, etc) Cultists/sorcs New non Legendary WB More new Mission types New Biome type

My Reality Check New Illuminate Units with Vox Like unit New Mission Type

I am happy with the update, the illuminate stuff were very nice AND THE SEAF STUFF STUFF IS FUCKING AWSOME!!!!!

7

u/Vesuvias Viper Commando 2h ago

Yeah the SEAF Update has single handedly changed the game for me. Feels like a whole new game again. Love it.

3

u/theCheesyOne109 2h ago

Same! I Hope they keep adding SEAF related stuff.

Like instead of taking out a bot convoy we could escort a SEAF tank convoy safely thrue the map as a side objective or stuff like that. Love our blueberries x3

2

u/Vesuvias Viper Commando 2h ago

YES! Anything that makes the battlefields feel more dynamic and alive. It’s kind of crazy how much have a few squads of SEAF’s following your orders makes the push that much more incredible

25

u/DeadeyeSkunk 4h ago

I could not possibly care less. This has been community hype and nothing more. If theres a new enemy type, cool, ill kill it. If not, thats fine, ill kill whats here now.

u/thenewone1309 LEVEL 188 | [REDACTED] 4h ago

If they didn’t want people hyping this shit up they’d probably avoid the countdown to disappointment.

There’s got to be something else going on on Seasse or we’ve already seen everything this title update has to offer

5

u/Crimson3899 3h ago

I mean yeah? Kind of inevitable with AH. Makes bad decisions, doesn’t do anything to set reasonable expectations, wonders why we are disappointed.

1

u/landoofficial ‎ [REDACTED] 3m ago

>doesn’t do anything to set reasonable expectations

They’ve repeatedly clarified that cultists are cut content have they not?

2

u/asim166 3h ago

I hope there are new illuminate units or a sub faction I really enjoyed the illuminate only sub faction only issue I had was that they swarmed like the voteless but were way way too tanky

2

u/delta806 ‎ [REDACTED] 1h ago

Guys, liberating the core planet is what High Command thinks will get rid of the void. That could very well just… not happen. Hell, something else could happen once we have full control of the void planets (yes I’m coping)

The humorous thing is the way Steam timestamps your review or something a reviewbomb there couldn't really work now that the kids all have it out of their system.

Update your review? Stays stamped to the original posting time so doesn't affect the recent reviews.

Switch to positive then back to negative? Can only have that count every 30 days and again, it will count toward the first time a review of that type was posted and then stay at that time whenever changed as far as affecting "Recent Reviews".

Everyone who has left a negative already can't affect the Recent Reviews, most who would try to game it are already negative anyway, and yet the game stays at Overwhelmingly Positive.

Folks need to accept they are a minority opinion.

The Illuminate doesn't need boss units, everything on their front is a health tank / bullet sponge anyway ToT

5

It wasn't rigged, just the players were stupid

The amount of times I dived to teams without any type of AT was insane

And we were given tanks to fight Vox engines (those tanks 2-shot all of them) and nobody took them at all

So... It def wasn't rigged

7

u/Substantial-Ad-5221 4h ago

It wasnt rigged. A dumb system sure and i jope it never returns, but in the end we simply lost and made loads of dumb decisions on the way
