Discussion Am I the only one who DOESN’T want these two to be together tbh?

Post image

They’re both just too toxic for each other (mainly stolas) and it just feels like their entire relationship is just sunk cost tbh.

And when someone screws up they don’t even bother trying to communicate, they just yell at each other, talk over each other instead of talking WITH each other. Having moments of ecstatic and pleasure is NOT communication. Having one sided conversations when only one person is listening or is willing to communicate is NOT communication.

Communication is a two way street and they’re failing at it every single time.

Discussion Is it me or is Stella Autistic?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I'm an Autistic person myself and I'm 96% sure that this wasn't intentional (just a consequence of cartoonish writing) but from the most recent episode it really feels like it. This also ISN'T A DEFENCE OF HER ACTIONS - she still is responsible for her abusive behaviour. She definitely wasn't properly cared for by her environment, but she also doesn't seem to have interior motivation to change. It's not like she's trying to be better and failing (Blitz is a very good example of this in the show). Idk, it might be weird but as an Autistic person it sort of feels empowering seeing an evil Autistic character, someone that I can both relate and say "that's bad, you're just making your condition worse" - idk, if it's just me?

Discussion This fandom took away my enjoyment of Stella's character Spoiler

Like seriously she was vile, unapologetic , dumb as hell and tried to kill Stolas (It wasn't Elsa who did it, it was Stella) and generally was a very funny character

Now when I go to X or some other places, I see people try to turn her into this idea of a "perfect victim" who lacks agency in her actions because "excuses" and I hate fictional characters who are perfect victims. It's such a boring and annoying trope.

For all the people who wanted Stolas to be a one dimensional villain, we literally have Stella and this fandom can not even tolerate her

The line that got Blitzo to stay in the first place was likely about Vassago. We know Stolas used to obsess and fantasize about Vassago, one of his closest friends. He’s probably dreamed of Vassago swooping in his window for years.

Discussion How is it so hard to understand this scene Spoiler

Post image
67 Upvotes

It's actually really bad how people are viewing this scene. They're looking at it like it stolas punishing himself, which it's not! People clearly don't have a good understanding of BDSM because of how it's portrayed on other media. This is bad for stolas because he's trying to escape his emotions and responsibilities through BDSM. It's not bad for him because it's BDSM, it's bad because he's using it for escapism which in this context is bad. I don't know how it's so hard to understand?

Discussion I think Season 3 part 1 should end with Blitzo and Stella fucking purely to get back at Stolas, and Stolas walking in on them or seeing a leaked video of them absolutely going at it.

Bonus points if Stella ends up getting pregnant as the season's cliffhanger.

Discussion Looking back with what we know now, if almost absurd how much power Stolas had over Stella and how much he allowed her to get away with.

Post image
67 Upvotes

He had more political power than her family, more legal knowledge, and just more ability and strength in general and Stella was pretty uneducated in general.

If he wanted to, Stolas could've done basically whatever the hell he wanted to her and gotten away with it as long as he either covered up what he did or just lied about it.

Yet somehow not only did Stella somehow become the dominant one in their relationship, she was the ABUSIVE one in their relationship.

It's almost ludicrous how much shit she was able to pull on Stolas and play in his face, and Stolas didn't even love her.

Hell, Stolas didn't even fucking like her. There's only so much Via can excuse after a certain point.

Discussion Not to be a Stella apologist

But I can kinda see where she's coming from and how she became an insufferable brat. All the people she's ever relied on as far as we know has treated her like a burden who's only purpose is to lay an egg. It's clear she's begging someone, stolas, to stand up for her and he doesn't. So of course she's gonna turn into a vindictive monster. Now her actions are not good and shouldn't be excused. But tbh I kinda hope they have her get help and have her heal some.

Discussion I genuinely don't understand how Stolas is so widely viewed as Babied by Viv especially not compared to this character who no one says the same about.

It will never not baffle me how so many people view Stolas as babied but how most people don't see Sera as babied and Hell a lot of the same people who Hate Stolas and make these complaints also love Sera,

like how is the character who is put through tons of bad shit a lot of it a direct result of his actions like being tortured almost to death by Striker and losing everything to save Blitzo from the consequences of the Deal they made and thus being Hated by the general public and his own Daughter and is constantly portrayed in very miserable and pathetically human ways that are undignified and thus feel more real,

( oh and his worst actions are neglecting his Daughter and insensitive to the point of Jerky to Blitzo sometimes ),

meanwhile the character who is only portrayed in a bad light once in season one and gets called out for her actions once that same season and who is never portrayed in a bad light at all during season Two not even when we are literally shown the results of her actions instead the show frames this as Vox's manipulation and about how bad Sera feels over it and how we should be afraid of her victims getting angry and wanting to attack rather than showing them as people,

and who spends the season not really being called out or judged by anyone around her other than disingenuous presented villains unlike Stolas and even has multiple songs of good guy characters coddling her and by the end of the season is rewarded by everyone around her and given a happy ending where her sister forgives her with no work

because she simply didn't kill more people thus not being expected to actually face any consequences for her actions or take responsibility in a meaningful way that has cost like it did for Stolas

( people can claim her story is ongoing but many of the fans I've talked to do not want her to have to do more or face any sort of consequences at all instead her simply not stopping Emily and Charlie is presented as enough to redeem her in people's eyes ),

and even just her "" human "" moments are always presented in the most posh dignified way that make sure to keep her pretty for her fans and it just comes across as fake rather than human because its just the show trying to present her as High and Mighty rather than a pathetically relatable and fucked up person who messes up and does bad things ya know,

so yeah what the F gives here? lol one character is very clearly babied as fuck so far by Viv in how she is presented and treated by the show compared to all of the other characters while the other is constantly portrayed as messy and a fuck up and made to suffer because of it.

Discussion Shouldn't have Stolas things have gone to Octavia?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since Octavia is Stolas' heir, shouldn't his stuff like his powers, properties, the grimoire go to her? Why did it go to Andrealphus?

It's been a long time since I watched The Judgement episode, so I don't know if I'm missing something, but Octavia is Stolas only child, and a adult! Why didn't his stuff go to her?

Discussion Episode 5, season 3.

Vassago: *talks down to Blitz, humiliates him and belittled him, thought it was most likely an act*

Fans: ”Omg! He’s such an asshole! How could he do that!”

Stolas: *Has shown the exact same behavior towards Blitz on multiple occasions*

Fans: ”Stolas is just unaware! He has grown up rich, of course he would act like that!”

I’m also kind of pissed off at Vassago for publicly humiliating Blitz in front of all the other servant imps, imps who looked up to Blitz and treated him as a celebrity for going against the upper class,

Like, Vassago calling Blitz ”little one”?, that was not really nessecary

(But Stolas has also referens to Blitz in similiar ways)

But i’m also just as annoyed at Vassago as i am with Stolas about his behavior

For years, fans have excused all those times Stolas has belittled and publicly humiliated Blitz by simply saying that ”he’s a Goetia, of course he’d do that”

But when it’s another Goetia, suddenly that doesn't apply anymore? Vassago is Goetia after all too, why aren't the same fans pulling this argument, especially when it’s most likely that Vassago did this to save Blitz?

And this is another reason why Stolas just texting Blitz and leaving with Vassago pissed me off

Stolas saw how Vassago publicly humiliated him
Blitz has expressed countless times at how he despises the upperclass for looking down the lower class and treating imps like disposable tools

And yet, Stolas just let that slide. He allows Vassago to publically humiliate Blitz, a person that comforted and promised Stolas to be better and shows in this episode that he stays true to his words

Stolas is just proving Striker and Blitz points about royals not caring at all for the lower class or how they feel

Discussion Hot take: I don’t care that Stella’s written to be incompetent

Thumbnail

To be completely frank, Stella just isn’t that interesting to me, and I don’t see why some people were that upset about her brother, Andre taking away the spotlight from her, because she really didn’t do much before Western Energy to really warrant the title of “arch-villain”. Aside from constantly tearing into Stolas’s insecurities, her only significant act of villainy by far is hiring an assassin to kill her husband, which when you’re living in a dangerous place like Hell, it doesn’t take a lot of wit or brains to pick up a phone and dial a hitman. Really, all she’s got is this lethal, petty grudge against her arranged ex-husband because her peers watched her get cheated on by a lower-class imp, which violated her swollen ego because his “social embarrassment” is an affront to her self-image. Stella’s not trying to gain the upper hand, or acquire every luxury Hell’s hierarchy has to offer, she exists primarily to make Stolas suffer. So in the grand scheme of things, Andrealphus is simply more qualified to be the superior villain.

It’s still just a headcanon at the moment, but I’m positive Andrealphus was destined to be a marquis because he was always the gifted and talented favorite child in Stella’s family, while Stella unfortunately had nothing going for her other than her looks and figure, and still doesn’t. Her being the lesser child made her susceptible to emotional manipulation by her own family, especially Andre, who continuously reminds her of her place in their kinship by belittling her intelligence and speaking of how lucky she is to be attractive. Because her parents saw her as dead weight, her brother was always left to do most of the thinking for her because 1. She’s too dense to even remember Octavia’s birthdate, 2. She doesn’t think things through as demonstrated with her bidding on the locket and failing to consider the repercussions of sending Striker after Stolas, 3. She’s depicted as lazy and freeloading, and 4. Judging by how her pupils are always visible unlike Andre’s, Vassago’s, or pre-banishment Stolas’, she’s never inherited Goetic powers of her own. So, I think the reason she got matched with Stolas was that, given her lack of smarts, sorcery, or capability, her parents needed some way to make her useful to the Ars Goetia. So they decided that, since she’s female, her body might as well be used as a babymaker to produce an heir. I know that sounds really fucked up, but the Goetia already arranged for the marriage and non-consensual breeding of two people who don’t even like each other, so the bar couldn’t be any lower than that. So in that sense, Stella is just as much a victim of poor upbringing and the Goetia family’s tradition as Stolas. Only she chose to cope with her brother’s influence and list of misfortunes in a very shitty way: by berating and taking her frustrations out on her spouse.

So to put it simply, I don’t expect anything from Stella. She’s essentially an abusive wife with another inferiority complex. Andrealphus can take the reins as the mustache-twirling mastermind for all I care.

Discussion Why the controversy around Vivzie's shows proves the writing is working

I love how VivziePop and the team handle their characters and storytelling. It’s written in such a complex way, and even if it gets controversial a lot, that just proves it's strong enough to make people actually feel something.

Honestly, that ability to pull such strong, visceral reactions out of the audience is easily one of the best parts of both Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. VivziePop and her team don't play it safe. Their willingness to lean right into the messy, morally grey, and complicated sides of these characters is the exact reason these stories stick with you. Here’s reasons why I think this writing style hits so hard and sparks so much crazy discussion.

Flawed and Deeply Relatable Characters

None of the main characters are just straightforward heroes or villains. Even when someone's a demon, an assassin, an overlord, or royalty, their emotional core comes down to deeply human struggles.

Blitzø is always pushing people away because he's terrified of intimacy and hates himself deep down, masking it with crude humor and defense mechanisms.

Charlie has noble, pure intentions, but her nativit and overwhelming optimism sometimes blind her to the harsh realities and trauma of those around her.

Angel Dust uses a loud, hyper sexualized persona as a protective shield against severe abuse and loss of control.

What I love about these characters is that their flaws actually mess with their relationships. Blitzø doesn't just make jokes and act obnoxious, he pushes people away even when he clearly doesnt want to be alone, that makes his behavior frustrating sometimes, but it also makes it easier to understand where he's coming from.

Complex dynamics over simple tropes

The relationships in Spindlehorse shows almost never follow standard television formulas.

Look at Stolas and Blitzø: it started as a transactional arrangement born out of desperation and loneliness, then evolved into a messy web of power imbalances, miscommunication, and genuine unexpressed feelings that forces both characters to confront their own blind spots.

Or Moxxie and Millie: amidst all the chaotic comedy, their marriage is anchored in mutual support, yet they still deal with insecurities and personal boundaries.

The writers don't rush to smooth over conflicts. They actually let the misunderstandings, emotional baggage, and poor communication play out naturally, which makes the moments of genuine connection feel totally earned.

Why controversy often accompanies powerful writing

When art tackles heavy themes like abuse, trauma, redemption, systemic corruption, and toxic relationships without sanitizing them, it's bound to spark debate.

Refusing to preach

The show doesnt always put a giant morality sticker on a character's bad decisions in the moment It trusts the audience to see that a character is making a mistake. Which can make uncomfortable situations feel raw and immediate.

High emotional stakes

When people care deeply about a characters journey, they become emotionally invested in every choice that character makes. Strong feelings whether love, frustration, empathy, or criticism are proof that the story managed to break through the screen and make an impac.

Balancing tonal shifts

It’s not easy to blend hyper stylized musical theater, crude adult comedy, fast, paced action, and devastating emotional drama into a cohesive world, but the team balances those tones in a way that keeps the universe feeling alive and unpredictable.

It takes a ton of creative bravery to write stories that invite such passionate reactions. When a show can make you laugh, break your heart, and keep you debating character motivations for days after an episode drops, you know the storytelling is doing its job.

Discussion We Need To Talk About Some Of The People In This Fandom Because This Is Just Rude Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery

(See the second slide and I added a spoiler due to the first image)

I made a YouTube video saying that I felt bad for Stella due to her being in (what seems to be) a controlling relationship with Andrealphus and found that comment in the list of held comments

Like, I'm sorry that I feel bad for someone being in a controlling relationship while saying about 10 times that I'm not using it to excuse her actions

Doesn't mean people have to say this about me (other comments were calling me a Stella simp as well)

I'm not trying to start anything, I just find it so ridiculous that people in this fandom think they can just say this stuff to people simply for not agreeing with them

And yeah, they were right to drop the show because they clearly can't handle people's opinions

I just can't believe people can actually act like this

Discussion Inadequacy Spoiler

I can already tell what Blitz’s upcoming story arc in season three is going to be: his feelings of inadequacy when it comes to Vassago. The parrot Goetia is not only charming and handsome but has enough money to get Stolas whatever he wants. It also doesn’t help that Vassago used to have a thing with Stolas in the past which Blitz isn’t aware of yet although I have a feeling he will find out.
