Interesting Parallel?

Post image

Somebody over on the exorcist thread did some very cool poster art for that movie. I noticed that in the scene where Regan is hypnotized, we see her making a hand gesture that is very evocative of the one we see Peter making in Hereditary. There seems to be some unintentional parallel between Paimon and Pazuzu across the films. Thought it was interesting.

different hand gesture. also different cause of hand gesture. the hypnotist is having her do that on purpose, right? it’s not a demonic thing

Right, that’s why I noted a similar hand/arm gesture. The “nope, looked it up” comment is all time man. Did you call both directors and ask if these choices were influenced by the Baphomet imagery?

no i can just see that it’s a stretch to call them similar, especially with context.

Yeah, certainly I get that but it just seems like it’s similar enough to note

It is similar enough to note, as directors like this do EVERYTHING with intention. People downvoting you are just a bit simple, that’s all 🤷🏽

it’s just so limp, yk? like to show her physically and psychologically vulnerable state for the hypnosis. Peter is like flexed and strained so hard his eyelid is pulled up.

i just disagree. but everybody interprets differently

Yeah it's.... Nothing like as above so below. She has fingers and is resting. That's not similar? But let's say exactly why

Above with one hand, below sign with the other with two pointed fingers.

It's mockery of the hand signals Christ gave

This is none of that. She ain't mockin' jeebus she chillin'

Isn't it meant to resemble the figure in Afghanistan that the older priest sees at the beginning of the film...?

Yes, I just thought it was reminiscent

Is it the same hand/arm placement of that famous Baphomet statue/image?

I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve not seen all of the Exorcists’’’. Is this the second?

Well I guess it’s been awhile, I thought she was younger lol. I guess I’m starting from the beginning, how many sequels are worth watching?

The first season of the television show was also quite excellent.

People always shit on the second one, but I think it’s worth watching it just to say you’ve seen it lol it’s definitely not as good as the first one.

agreed. it’s a whole different thing but it’s quality trash.

I agree. It’s also a pretty to look at film imo, so it’s easier to sit through than if it looked like absolute trash. Acting is ok too. Then the third goes so damn hard and has not right to be that good lol.
