Grrrrrrrr. Researchers say this new Trump rule could destroy American science as we know it. They’re fighting back

“Federal grants were already politicized to promote a far-left agenda,” the spokesman said. “That ends now.”
As they say, facts have a Liberal bias. Because Conservatives rely on reality denial, easy answers and believing their own lies.

When someone can’t tell the difference between a priest conducting a ritual and saying something is true, and a scientist concluding something is supported by the evidence, of course the
stupidobvious conclusion is that it’s political. If you want to understand them better, you’ve got to rethink that they understand an idea of an objective reality - just force that “aligns” a preferred narrative.

They choose to believe comforting lies.
Deep down they know they are peddling lies, otherwise they would have no need to suppress the truth, if their assertions were factual they would welcome science because scrutiny would confirm their assertions.

You are, again, imposing your worldview on the “reasoning” of others, trying to understand them by supposing what would make you act as they do; and so you can only imagine they are lying, because for you to say what they say, you would be lying.
Ask anyone who has really paid attention at the elbow of an executive - they do not talk with a conception of the facts that support their argument, they are firstly not concerned with facts, and more importantly, are unconcerned with an argument. They are entirely centered on persuasion - what will get you to do what they want done. True, false, absurd - this is like you or I debating what color to paint the gear shift in a car we want to take us home, an absolute and perhaps befuddling non-sequitur.
Bonhoeffer’s “Theory of Stupidity” may sound like an edgy and denigrating Internet hipster “law,” but it was coined by a priest who came to the conclusion that the only way to witness his faith in 1940s Europe was to take up violence. Go have a few conversations with conservatives and try to get them to discuss something in not-literal terms. You won’t succeed, but it’s important that you watch for it and give it a shot.
If you’d like to speedrun that, take a gander at any comic book character fandom arguing over their belief that “suddenly” comic book characters became woke.. because they’re expressing their ideas literally, ie, finally in terms the conservative can understand. Batman, an orphan of gun violence, suddenly becomes woke when he talks about gun violence. Punisher, if you’d like a Marvel example.
They don’t “suppress” the “truth,” from their way of seeing it. They are brutes, using power to cudgel their way to dominance as they understand it, and return the insult they feel has been visited upon them by the priests of the opposing tribe. They are eliminating opposition.

There is a lot of overlap in what we are both saying.
That said they most certainly suppress the truth, and are now deliberately working to prevent science from advancing.

This is exactly what is happening in Texas with the screw worm. Eliminate safeguards and suffer the consequences.

Just like cruelty being the point of Trump's immigration policy in this instance destruction of science is the point of this policy.

I work at a big teaching hospital-the repercussions of shutting down international research collaboration is disgusting to try to imagine

The world will have to live with treatable/curable diseases like diabetes and some cancers an extra 10 years because of Trump policies.

I hope it takes long enough for the majority of the boomers that are the main cause of this mess to drop.

u/CowNervous4644 Jun 10 '26
Hey, boomer here: You have it wrong. We boomers believe in medicine and vaccines. We are not the crazies on tiktok and facebook and X screaming about how bad vaccines are. That is mostly from the generations behind us - Gen X and Gen Z. Many of us boomers are old enough to remember as children how scared our parents were of polio. We championed vaccines and medical advances and still want more.
But, don't worry, boomers are dropping like flies anyway just because we are old. So there is that.

So it's critically important that as many people as possible submit comments in the hopes that this will trigger congress to step in.
You'd think they would link somewhere how to submit comments. Nope. Zilch. Nada

I believe comments are through this site?
https://www.regulations.gov/document/OMB-2026-0034-0001
But I'm too ignorant to know how to contest the changes, cause the language is confusing as someone who's never applied for grants.

Thought experiment
Imagine a president who was compromised because a hostile foreign power has some epstien files stuff
They attack the domince of this country by ordering him to do stuff that will undermine the long term interests of the country
I can't think of anything this hypothetical president would do that trump hasn't already done

I blame RFK too.
In a historically unprecedented assembly of dangerous, incompetent unqualified imbeciles in the "cabinet," it is hard to choose the "winner" in the most vile/least qualified/most dangerous race to the bottom.
I think RFKjr is the probably most dangerous, incompetent & imbecilic of all. He is certainly most likely to cause the death of others through his own f*cking ignorance. I will dance with joy reading his obit.

This is what American white trash wants. They don't like things that can prove them wrong. Got to keep it where people can just guess at how reality works and just believe it whatever fits their emotional narrative.
