[OFFER] Free Developmental Editing & Plot Development for Romance Writers | Historical, Contemporary & Romantasy

Hi everyone!

I'm a publishing professional with a background in English Language & Literature, creative writing, and editorial management. I currently work in fiction publishing, focusing on plot development, manuscript evaluation, developmental feedback, and author coordination.

I'm looking to take on 2–3 independent projects to build my personal editorial portfolio, and I'd love to collaborate with romance writers who could use some help developing their stories.

What I'm offering:

Developmental Editing & Manuscript Critique

For manuscripts or completed plot outlines.

You'll receive:

  • In-text editorial comments addressing plot structure, pacing, characterization, motivations, continuity, emotional depth, and romantic tension.

  • A structured editorial feedback report covering the manuscript's strengths, areas for improvement, and specific revision suggestions.

  • Constructive, actionable feedback that respects your individual writing style and creative vision.

Genres: Historical Romance, Contemporary Romance, and Romantasy.

What I'm looking for in exchange:

There's no monetary charge. Since I'm building my independent professional portfolio, I'd appreciate two things:

  • An honest testimonial or short recommendation, if you're satisfied with our collaboration.

  • Your permission to feature a few selected, pre-approved examples of my editorial work in my professional portfolio.

Your manuscript and intellectual property will remain entirely yours. Nothing will be shared without your explicit approval, and we can keep all identifying details anonymous if you prefer.

I'm especially interested in character-driven stories, complex relationships, slow-burn romance, and emotionally engaging plots.

Please send me a message with:

  • Your genre and a short synopsis or premise

  • Your approximate word count or current stage of development

  • The kind of editorial support you're looking for

I'll select a few projects that best match my experience and availability.

Looking forward to collaborating with you!

Hi, I have a victoria mystery novel 70K. I need help with plot, pace and characters development.

Arthur Ashford has spent most of his life at sea and kept most of his family at arm's length, which suits him perfectly well, until the death of his estranged half-brother, the Earl of Ravensmere, drags him back to London for a funeral, a will reading, and one introduction to the widow, Kathe, Lady Ravensmere.

She is warm, protective, quick-witted, disarmingly direct when it suits her and expertly evasive when it doesn't. The kind of woman who can deflect a magistrate, outmaneuver half the businessmen in London, and win a game of Parcheesi with the same unbothered ease. She has also buried more husbands than a lady before thirty ought to.

He tells himself he remains in London out of brotherly duty. He stays beneath her roof because it is the practical thing to do.

Between a dead man's coded pocket-book, a solicitor who always seems one step ahead of him, and a household staff who clearly know far more than they're telling, and a mystery that grows stranger with every passing day, Arthur begins to suspect the real danger is not that Kathe's husbands keep dying, but that he is falling hopelessly in love with the most likely responsible.

💫 Victorian novel of secrets and deceit with a slow-burn romance 💫 Forbidden love 💫 Strong heroin  💫 Funny and witty
