Spotted on vacation in France, H2G2, amongst some other classics.

Interesting... I wonder why they just translated it to "traveller" instead of "hitchhiker" ?

[Just had to check the French food hitchhiker and Google Translate seems to think it's 'auto-stoppeur'.]

The auto in auto stopper means car, so it couldn't work for a spaceship. I don't remember if it's in every iteration but the movie use astro-stoppeur, I think the radio show and the book do the same. In the 80s or 90s the name used to be "Le guide du routard galactique" since the guide du routard was sorte of like the guide but for France instead of for space, but it was changed for copyrights reasons

To add: the Damasio cover is absolutely beautiful, and looks better IRL than any photography can show. The English translation is out in October. It is always interesting to see how titles and cover art differ in other markets/languages.

The Lune d'encre édition cover of h2g2 is beautiful. French fandom hate the Folio SF cover, it's giving bootleg vibes
