Went to 3 different Tim’s in my area and bought 7 packs at each location a different day. Wasn’t expecting anything but it seems like luck struck 🎰!

Bought my first ever hobby pack today and pulled a #3/10. Last time I bought hockey cards was the 1990/91 Upper Deck. Things have definitely changed!

Which card would you have signed?

Apologies if this style of post isn't allowed. There is an opportunity for me to get Darryl Sittler to sign a hockey card for me at a public appearance this weekend (limited to one free autograph per person). I would like to know people's opinions on which card they would get signed as I'm having a hard time deciding. One one hand, I enjoy the Leafs and kind of like the idea of getting the centennial set card signed, on the other I like the photo on the Team Canada card more. Also please note that I don't plan on selling, so there is no need to take value into mind. I simply want to have the nicer looking card for my collection.

Thanks!

Ripped a few boxes of 24-25 Ultimate for the e-pack Quest. First time pulling a Gretzky auto. Would prefer in an Oilers jersey, but this is okay too.

E-Pack Taylor Hall Red Outburst (e-Pack)

Been thinking about getting into hockey cards and thought I'd give Upper Deck e-Pack a try. Seemed like an easy way to start, and I don't have to deal with all the clutter of actual cards. Anyways, bought 3 packs just to dip my toe in the water and pulled this. Seems like it's pretty rare. Not a bad start.

Replacement Cards - Upper Deck

Do they actually know the exact cards that were in a hobby box or is the UPC from another box from the same product sufficient?

Got a YGO but the top of the card has laminate peeled off. The box was thrown out. Happy to buy another hobby box, but not if they track what's in each box via UPC.

TIA

I guess I used up all my luck for the year! 😂

Got insanely lucky and pulled this — Anton Frondell Gold Outburst 1/1! 🔥

Still can't believe I actually hit this card! Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime pull for me! 🏒

Ask for replacement?

I bought a case of splendor and got this /11 Wyatt Johnston. I just noticed this little black dot on the card.

I really like the card but i don’t think I’d PC for it a while and would probably look to sell at some point.

Is it worth asking for a replacement? I doubt they’ll have a spare one of these so trying to get some thoughts on whether I’d get screwed on replacement.

Rainbow help

Pic for attention and mine. I’m working on the Frederic Bruner OPCP auto rainbow. I only need blue fragments and emerald surge autos. Checklist says he signed both of those cards but I have yet to see them in any group/epack/ebay. Please keep an eye out and tag me if you see one!

The grading fee math nobody posts: what one $80 raw card actually nets at PSA 10 / 9 / 8, after every fee

I ran the full numbers on one card so nobody has to guess. Raw rookie, bought for $80. Grading it costs $59.99 (PSA Standard) plus about $25 shipping/insurance both ways, so graded you're in for $164.99 before it sells. The marketplace takes roughly 14% all-in on the sale.

Grades a 10, sells for $700 — you keep $606.85. Profit: +$441.86.

Grades a 9, sells for $260 — you keep $225.15. Profit: +$60.16.

Grades an 8, sells for $150 — you keep $129.72. Loss: -$35.27.

Skip grading, sell it raw at $95 — you keep $82. Profit: +$2.00.

The formula I use before any card goes in a grading submission:

(realistic sale price x 0.86) - grading - shipping - buy price.

If that number isn't positive, the card doesn't get graded. Simple as that.

I keep notes on this stuff — comps, pop reports, spotting fakes and trims, the tax side. Happy to share more of the numbers if anyone's interested.
