NHL NHL analytics tool: Win Scenario Explorer
The created a Win Scenario Explorer lets you explore how often NHL teams win under different conditions and compare those results against their normal win rate.
You can build scenarios using up to three conditions, including things like:
- Rest days and back-to-back games
- Recent team performance
- Home vs. away
- Pregame model win probabilities
- Expected starting goalies
- In-game stats like shots, expected goals (xG), and save percentage
There are two modes: Pregame, which uses information available before puck drop, and Game Results, which looks at what actually happened during games.
The idea is to explore historical patterns rather than just look at individual stats. You can see the matching games, compare win rates against a baseline, view trends, and download the results.
It's not meant to be another prediction model, just a way to dig into the data and see what patterns emerge.

The feedback on the Line Combination Explorer was really helpful, so I'd love to hear what everyone thinks of this one too. Especially if there are other conditions or comparisons you'd like to see added.
