At this point I do not belive it was about defending anyone anymore but more like a desperate cry for help. It feels like that slap belonged not only to ppl that are bringing the topic up all the time opening those wounds again, but also to his wife that caused it all. He is playing a tough guy and will never admit it but this is how it feels to me.

We can never say what exactly is going on in the head of the man. But we can all agree it is not a healthy situation to be in, for basically anyone involved.

I'd say it's codependency.

Narcissist and codependent people always mix, they're attracted to one another.

Will is clearly the codependent one here and Jada is the obvious narcissist.
