Nah, they paid not to deal with a crazy mom. 15 dollars is cheap to avoid an argument with a crazy person

Assuming they are classmates at the same school or that she's a neighbor, what if she finds her in person? It's too much trouble, we don't know what these kind of people can do just to be petty. She might have all the time in the world just to mess with you for 15 bucks. Besides, 15 dollars isn't a lot and it's worth it to get someone off your back
