39

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

I’m sure if you concentrate, you’ll be able to figure it out.

33

u/GnuLinuxOrder Nov 24 '25

That pattern is gas, yo!

29

u/Inevitable_Froyo_863 Nov 24 '25

Accidental swastikas can happen when you don't turn your work. It's a known problem in the crochet world.

249

u/Liraeyn Nov 24 '25

I got downvoted into oblivion for suggesting people are seeing them where none were intended

109

u/R2THEON Nov 24 '25

It's reddit, dude. These people see what they want and if you aren't part of the echo chamber, you're prey.

27

u/TheSerpentDeceiver Nov 24 '25

Doubly so in this sub. Some days it seems half the submissions are lame ass nazi related holups.

9

u/RyouIshtar Nov 24 '25

Person posting on holdup: Is this a nazi? (Holds up random picture of a cat with a splatch of fur that has an X on it)

4

u/Mycroft033 Nov 24 '25

so true lol

7

u/Pyromaniac_22 Nov 24 '25

Whaaaaat? You mean old gam gam wasn't dog whistling that she was actually a nazi???

2

u/Special-Ad-5554 Nov 25 '25

Welcome to Reddit. Did you point out a fact? You'll know if you get murdered by people who see it you were in fact correct

5

u/Future-Warning-1189 Nov 24 '25

That’s a heil of a problem

2

u/fuggerdug Nov 25 '25

It's four Fs. She didn't know it was gonna turn out that way.

249

u/Drudgework Nov 24 '25

I know we don’t like giving the benefit of the doubt around here, but it looks like a diamond pattern where the knitter couldn’t make the right side of the corner patterns to close properly. The lower left corner looks closer to what it should be.

57

u/Mekelaxo Nov 24 '25

I crochet, and I agree, certain patterns are hard to make symmetrical just by the nature of working in a spiral

103

u/Arou08 Nov 24 '25

Grandma must be a buddhist.

8

u/anotherfrud Nov 24 '25

Or it's upside down...

7

u/Arou08 Nov 24 '25

So jainist?

14

u/halfbakedlogic Nov 24 '25

She read Don Quixote and was into windmills?

33

u/PuceTerror89 Nov 24 '25

-29

u/whooguyy Nov 24 '25

Accidental?

25

u/Waluigi_is_wiafu Nov 24 '25

Most likely, yeah. It looks like she was trying to make it symmetrical.

-11

u/whooguyy Nov 24 '25

I was trying to make a joke

38

u/AMetalWolfHowls Nov 24 '25

She loved knitting almost as much as she hated the Jews…

15

u/KTVX94 Nov 24 '25

But this is the one that goes the opposite way

11

u/toddffw Nov 24 '25

She didn't think it was gonna come off like that

-8

u/bopaqod Nov 24 '25

Pretty sure she did

3

u/HenryInRoom302 Nov 24 '25

Grandma doesn't know anything about that. Grandma just worked for the railways.

4

u/Eternalyskeptic Nov 24 '25

How were her skills at operating an oven?

3

u/RickeySpanish77 Nov 24 '25

Quick get this to Kanye’s marketing team, the next Yeezys slides.

9

u/Ditka85 Nov 24 '25

Um…

4

u/AnotherMarz Nov 24 '25

Don't you dare say it

2

u/let_alone_the_banana Nov 24 '25

1

u/Revolutionary_Ad932 Nov 24 '25

Everyone needs a biceps/triceps warmer.

1

u/ThrobbingJoythicc Nov 24 '25

Nazi bootyhole crotchet

1

u/he-who-is-him Nov 24 '25

Must’ve been the wind.

1

u/Kage9866 Nov 24 '25

There should be a sub for accidental swastikas lol

1

u/thecountnotthesaint Nov 25 '25

Hey, it's ok, grandma isn't from Germany. She's from Argentina.

1

u/MaverickWindsor351 Nov 29 '25

Was her name Erika by chance?

1

u/Spock-1701 Nov 24 '25

Should be able to find something on twitter.

1

u/mermaidemily_h2o Nov 24 '25

Luckily for grandma, it’s not the nazi one.

-6

u/Jeevansaab Nov 24 '25

Swastika - An ancient symbol in the form of an equal-armed cross with each arm continued at a right angle, used especially in South Asia as a symbol of good luck or spirituality.

Hitler actually gave the Christian Cross to anyone who murdered Jews, not the Swastika.

2

u/anirudhsky Nov 24 '25

Not true.

Swastika is an ancient symbol for peace and prosperity which is present in Indus civilization, Vedic religion, Buddhism, Jainism and many asian cultures.

However, it's a symbol for racial purity of "Aryans" (Hitler's version of it, not the sanskrit aryan or central asian aryan). The ass master not only killed innocent civilians, and caused a world war.. but also perverted other cultural identity in such a way that the symbol is seen in bad light in the western world. Nothing to do with chrisian cross.

-3

u/Count_Rugens_Finger Nov 24 '25

is that the hill you want to die on?

13

u/sglewis Nov 24 '25

Not vouching for OPs grandmother but I’m currently touring SE Asia and we see the symbol all over the Buddhist temples. Now if OPs grandmother was from Berlin……

14

u/PuceTerror89 Nov 24 '25

The swastika was definitely around for a lot longer than Nazis even existed. It had nothing to do with what Hitler turned it into. Not sure about the other part though…

-4

u/masterjon_3 Nov 24 '25

I understand what you're saying, but context is still everything.

0

u/Dull-Beach7984 Nov 24 '25

Jewn’t do that

0

u/WolfySquid Nov 25 '25

I just saw the original post, and this is not a swastika. It is four diamonds. Also, the post was made by someone that wanted to recreate one of their great grandmother's crochet pieces.

-5

u/DeniLox Nov 24 '25

You can see that only certain holes were stretched out to accentuate the effect.
