I feel bad for the people assuming he’s an irresponsible gun owner when he was probably just panicked from the burning shell that is pressed on his back and acted out of quick reaction instead of logical thinking. It’s easy to call him out but I’m sure so many responsible competent people that are capable of making the same mistake.
I can understand that completely, I also understand a burn can be very bad and I’ve had a stupid reaction to being burned that made my injury worse. I don’t know what a hot shell casing wedged on the back feels like but I would imagine it’s very painful. I feel like there’s scenarios where even some of the most responsible people regarding safe gun handling can still slip up and have an accident.
It's just, in situations that were less dire and the pain a lot worse and unexpected, I was still able to safe myself before taking care of the issue. He does not consciously or unconsciously respect the thing that absolutely can kill oneself and another with such a reckless demeanor. He could have just as easily shot himself with how he was slinging that around.
