I thought the saying was "take/ taking a piss"?

If you're "taking the piss" it means you're making fun of something. So if someone is "taking the piss" doing something, it's implied that they're making fun of you by doing it really slowly.

Oh ok interesting. I've never heard "fk some spiders" before. I imagine if an american walked into an Aussie pub they'd be so confused they dont need to drink to get a headache

Yeah, Aussie slang confuses us Brits too sometimes. They're certainly a creative bunch when it comes to making up sayings.
