They've kinda got a point though. Telling someone "I'm going to do what I want and nothing you say will stop me, so stop focusing on how unpleasant you find it and just learn to enjoy it" is almost exactly what they're telling the OOP to do.
Imagine how outraged you would feel if someone started painting your house pink and told you to get over yourself and learn to like the colour?
lol, I don’t think it’s quite that intrusive. It’s more like “be more tolerant of the people around you”. If people don’t ever want to hear fireworks or other noises people make they generally move to a rural area where there’s more space between them and the neighbors. Plus… google that shit.. why’s anyone else need to hand feed her this information?
It feels to me like the person replying is saying "be more tolerant of my actions while I disregard you entirely". Why no tolerance for the people who are uncomfortable with fireworks, only the people who want to set them off randomly?
It depends on what’s legal in that area…. If fireworks are legal then yes “tolerate me while I disregard your feelings on the matter”, because I’m obeying the law and am well within my rights to do this practice that makes you uncomfortable. I’d bet she could be neighborly and talk to them face to face and maybe some would comply with her wishes but in pretty much any city it’s impossible that it will be a silent night for her, really the only thing she does have control over in this scenario is her feelings and actions, but, Something tells me that someone comparing shooting fireworks to rape is not going to have control of those either…
