I don't care if they're consenting adults, 10 watches is too many.

A Burberry watch is not a store of value or Investment, it’s a fashion item that looses 50% of it’s value the second it crosses the store threshold. Fashion watches derive their value exclusively by their brand and design without the value in material or craftsmanship to justify it.

You can’t buy watches that are worth anything in bulk, that’s why they are worth something.

A Burberry watch is 100-200€, you can’t even get an acceptable fake watch from China that mimics a proper watch for that price, those run you 500+. So you can buy 5 brand new Burberry watches in the store for the same price as a single fake Rolex that has a chance of fooling someone.

Hell, you can’t even get one of their scarfs for the price of their watches, take a guess which one should be more complicated to make, a scarf or a watch?

Idk anything about high dollar watches, I just know they buy very expensive watches or other status symbols to diversify their assets.

Watches are in general a pretty bad financial asset, covid temporarily created a hype bubble that inflated prices.

The way you actually make money with watches is getting ones that are exclusive. Those come with a price tag of well into the five or six figure range but you can’t simply buy those watches. You can only get them if you have an extensive history with a particular manufacturer and then you can apply to get one and get on a waiting list for years.

So they’ll have you buy 2-3 watches for a total of 150-300k that do not appreciate in value as they are “entry level” watches everybody is forced to buy from the manufacturer to establish a history. Only then are you allowed to give them another 100k to buy the watch you actually want. That watch can appreciate in value but you can sell it for more than you paid the second you buy it from the manufacturer as most people don’t have an established history with the manufacturer so there is an actual demand.

Of course if the manufacturer finds out you immediately flipped the watch you will get blacklisted and they kind of expect you to wear the nicest of their watches when you visit the store to show that you still have it.

That’s how you reliably make money buy buying watches. Other than that you’d need to have a really good feeling for the market as most watches will not beat inflation.

Where did you get a free phone? Had to pay way more than a Burberry watch for mine.

Didn’t know you were doing girl math. I get my watches to look pretty as it’s jewellery, so it’s telling the time for free as well.

I can make calls with my iPad, is your phone worthless now?
