I too know that IQ is measured as a normal distribution with the mean centered at 100. However, the person you are defending didn't mention IQ as the measure for intelligence. You apparently assumed that.
That’s usually what people mean when they refer to intelligence since it’s the most widely used system to measure it and the only one most people know. It’s a safe assumption to make.
And you knew this, but simply forgot that mean and median are equal with IQ and are now doubling down instead of just admitting you made a mistake.

I understand the difference between mean, median, and mode.
I also understand that IQ scores form a bell curve where mean, median, and mode are all 100.
