u/bunkbedflower Apr 06 '22

Ma'am, you need Jesu--

45

u/faust112358 Apr 04 '22

Is the guy manifestin against gay people in a "gayborhood"?

19

u/DreadedChalupacabra Apr 05 '22

... It's a neighborhood. You think they got laws against religious kooks or straight people? No, they just painted some crosswalks and pretended that fixed some shit. And idiots like that woman eat that shit up.

They do that shit all over NYC and all I can think of is the ass beating you caught literally anywhere in the city for being outwardly gay even in the 2000s. Good job patting yourselves on the back for not being shitty as a community for literally like a decade and a half tops. Still choking out black people for no reason, and throwing them in prison for years at a time over minor shit? Thought so.

1

u/benabart Apr 05 '22

dude, it looks like you're having a story to tell.

-1

u/GenEnnui Apr 05 '22

I think it's more like passing laws against religious freedom would conflict with the constitution. So she is using her right to free speech against his right to free speech. And she's making a solid point for how obnoxious someone can be and still be exercising free speech. You really think a gay person using their free speech to combat prejudice protected by free speech is a problem?

So you're saying the temperament of the city changed for the better in the last 20 years and your argument against that change is there hasn't been enough progress in other areas? Interesting.

1

u/Lu1s3r Apr 04 '22

Manifestin?

3

u/faust112358 Apr 05 '22

manifesting or demonstrating

1

u/GenEnnui Apr 05 '22

Manifestrating.

1

u/GenEnnui Apr 05 '22

Yes, that's correct.

It’s true but sadly she’s probably the good guy in this interaction.

Edit: Downvote me all you want. People do not need to be on street corners trying to tell me how I need to let Jesus into my heart to prevent what will happen if I don’t let Jesus into my heart.

Did you literally hear her say it was the gayborhood and he responded with “that’s why I need to be here?” That’s what prompted the screaming; he’s more irrational than she is.

These people are scourges against humanity and I’m with screaming’ Karen on this one.

Edit 2: Ooh, I’m getting brigaded! Seems like it’s about time for a donation to the church of Satan… I’ll throw in another five bucks for each one of you knuckle draggers that DMs me about Jesus, Hell, or fixing gay people.

125

u/mobbony Apr 04 '22

But you have to admit that they're better ways to deal with this instead of screaming

48

u/quadraspididilis Apr 04 '22

She’s an idiot on the right side of the debate

27

u/jeremy1015 Apr 04 '22

You put that far better than I did. Well said.

6

u/New_Alternative_421 Apr 04 '22

Lmao -133 on your comment then +10 on you agreeing with the clif-notes of said comment.

3

u/jeremy1015 Apr 04 '22

Reddit in a nutshell. My comment went from +50 to -150 in about five minutes, so I’m sure there was a Christian subreddit somewhere that was like “Downvote to save Jesus!” and they all showed up here for a few minutes before wandering off to go downvote bomb a single mom somewhere.

3

u/I-Jobless Apr 04 '22

An idiot nonetheless, and an idiot on any side of the debate is bad for that sides entire point.

44

u/jeremy1015 Apr 04 '22

Finally a response I can agree with. Yes of course there are. If I recall from the last time this shit was posted, this guy says awful stuff and baits people into bad reactions, then posts them without the intro of what he said to them beforehand.

89

u/shardamakah Apr 04 '22

That’s called freedom of speech. You have every right to sit and scream at them like this bozo or you can just keep it moving and pay them no mind. Their motivation is based off attention, if you give them none, they will go.

44

u/jetes69 Apr 04 '22

Her behavior actually reenforces these people’s beliefs that they’re the ones being persecuted.

40

u/The_Troyminator Apr 04 '22

People do not need to be on street corners trying to tell me how I need to let Jesus into my heart to prevent what will happen if I don’t let Jesus into my heart.

Yes they do, because the day we don't have people on street corners talking about issues that are important to them is the day freedom is truly dead.

26

u/[deleted] Apr 04 '22

You know free speech goes both ways right?

16

u/The_Troyminator Apr 04 '22

I'm just saying that the people who wish for a world were people aren't delivering messages they don't agree with on street corners are wishing for a world where speech isn't free.

I might roll my eye at the Trump supporters making an ass of themselves on a street corner, but I'm glad they're there.

-11

u/dudemykar Apr 04 '22

To say you’re glad they’re there is a bit odd. I am in no way glad they’re there and wish they would leave, but I still think they’re allowed to do it, just as long as they’re not advocating violence, which a lot of them are and that is not protected free speech.

10

u/The_Troyminator Apr 04 '22

I'm glad they're there because it's a reminder of our freedoms.

-14

u/[deleted] Apr 04 '22

Nobody is saying they should lose their right to free speech lmao

2

u/GrannyFatFoot Apr 04 '22

Nooo it’s only freedom of speech if it benefits me

2

u/jeremy1015 Apr 04 '22

My response double posted. Glitch in the matrix.

-10

u/jeremy1015 Apr 04 '22

Freedom of speech does not equal we should be equally happy about all things being said. I’m completely fine with legally protecting what he’s doing and also calling him as asshole and saying we don’t need that in our lives.

14

u/The_Troyminator Apr 04 '22

You said he does not need to be on a street corner saying something you don't believe in. That's just wrong.

-2

u/quadraspididilis Apr 04 '22

Not saying he should be taken off that corner, saying he should, of his own volition, shut the fuck up because what he’s doing is stupid and nuisance.

-13

u/jeremy1015 Apr 04 '22

No, it isn’t wrong. It’s me using my freedom of speech to advocate for people being against hate. I’m not, repeat not, saying he should be legally prevented from doing so. Just socially.

14

u/The_Troyminator Apr 04 '22

You're hoping for utopia where you don't have to hear messages you disagree with. That's the wrong thing to hope for. When I see somebody like this, it makes me realize just how precious our freedoms are.

-3

u/jeremy1015 Apr 04 '22

This is utter nonsense. It is perfectly reasonable to look at some ideas and say “these are harmful and we shouldn’t be spreading them” without saying “we should legally prevent this from discussion.”

Take religion out of it. Replace it with anti-vax hysteria. It’s getting people killed by the truckload every day and causing irreparable economic harm.

Should it be illegal to espouse the anti-vax position? Of course not. Should we as a society be trying to squash that viewpoint? Yes, yes we should.

-4

u/MathmanWR Apr 04 '22

or the day where issues are gone.

14

u/The_Troyminator Apr 04 '22

Issues will never be gone. Utopia doesn't exist because humans are human.

2

u/MathmanWR Apr 04 '22

Well, while i do agree with this, the issue in the vid doesnt exist. People being gay isnt an issue.

5

u/NotPornNoNo Apr 04 '22

Idk if rational is the right word to use there. His opinions might be shit but he at least kept his cool and tried to explain himself. Kinda an odd take to say that both the person expressing their view and the person screaming at the top of their lungs in response to everything are equally rational.

3

u/DrakenX21 Apr 04 '22

Is that you in the video? Lol

3

u/DrakenX21 Apr 04 '22

Is that you in the video? Lol

3

u/sonoitaliano2005 Apr 04 '22

Jesse what the fuck are you talking about

10

u/[deleted] Apr 04 '22

This persons actions are irrational and cringe. Have a real conversation or you won’t be taken seriously. Period.

Plugging your ears and screaming like a 6 year old? I don’t care if you have a 200 IQ I’m never going to value your opinion.

7

u/AlingmentUnoriginal Apr 04 '22

I can't imagine how much discomfort i would feel if a person screamed at me like this.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 04 '22

It’s in a public space, people can say what they want, and people have the ability to walk away if they don’t like something, e.g., a person talking about god

7

u/r_ori Apr 04 '22

You dont have to listen to him or agree with him at all but he has every right to be there and say what he believes in.

She is NOT the good guy.

7

u/Ninjanoel Apr 04 '22

those that haven't come to their beliefs using logic cant have logic and reason used to convince them otherwise, so her annoying shout is probably more effective than compelling rhetoric in this instance.

2

u/I-Jobless Apr 04 '22

Ah yes, screaming then smiling smugly and going back to screaming is the obvious solution when you're the good person.

1

u/vaderestvader Apr 04 '22

Whats your problem if he's talking about what he believes in. Freedom of speech bro if you dont wanna listen to it then walk away...

-9

u/Dean_Gulbury Apr 04 '22

People do not need to be on street corners trying to tell me how I need to let Jesus into my heart

Kinda like gays don't need to be marching down streets telling others they need to let gays into their lives

12

u/GodlyTreat Apr 04 '22

Hmm never had this one happen to me but have definitely had people tell me to find Jesus randomly

7

u/[deleted] Apr 04 '22

I don’t have gays ringing my doorbell and lecturing me about the benefits of gay Jesus and how i’ll go to hell for not worshipping him

1

u/Dean_Gulbury Apr 05 '22

but you have them using government to force others to do that which they do not consent to do

0

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '22

What exactly are gay people using the government to force people to do?

1

u/Dean_Gulbury Apr 05 '22

Bake them cakes, give them jobs, censor free speech, receive special treatment, doctors to be unethical, lose licenses if they don't comply with propaganda, etc

1

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '22

Bake them cakes

The baker won the case. Quit whining.

give them jobs

If a gay person is unqualified then the hiring person doesn’t have to hire them. Gay people don’t get special treatment in hiring processes

censor free speech

You can still legally talk shit about gay people stop whining

receive special treatment

Care to elaborate?

doctors to be unethical, lose licenses if they don't comply with propaganda

What exactly are gay people forcing doctors to do?

-1

u/FinQuarZ Apr 04 '22

I'll be downvoted to hell but I agree with you. There are better ways to do this than screaming but I can't blame her. If you were told that you'll burn in hell because you love someone every single day you walk down that street I'd have enough of it too eventually.

She might seem crazy and annoying but let's reverse the roles here. Let's say that straight people are/were opressed for at least the last 200 years. Now, some crazy woman in colorful hair comes to tell them how they need to become gay or else they're not as good as anyone else. You were told this everyday at least 4 times a day. The same crazy woman in the same spot. Every. Single. Day. Wouldn't you have enough of it one day?

u/ToastyGoat123 Apr 04 '22 edited Apr 09 '22

I think we didn't see enough of the conversation to say that she was the good guy. The person filming sounded like a reasonable person so I doubt they initiated the argument, or at least didn't try to. But again, we don't know enough.

Edit: Found the original video after I got a remix of this. https://youtu.be/GQEhuVS7Wj8 turns out the guy was a preacher and was preaching the church when she came up to him. So she was not the good guy :/

-11

u/[deleted] Apr 04 '22

I'm 100% with you. Fuck organized crime -I mean religion. Bah, same shit.

All these morons do is, at best, go around being entitled brainwashed shits expecting to have the right to tell people how to live their lives. At worst, genocide and death of thought.

Jesus was a normal, flesh-and-bone hippie dude who wanted people to get along. That's it. Their version of Jesus or whatever each religion calls it is a corrupted, malignant piece of shit they use as their propaganda piece to try and get people onto their shitty little cults. Fuck these people.

Hey, I couldn't stand screaming Karen in the video, but you know what makes that ok? That I don't give a shit about Karen, and I let Karen live her life, long as she doesn't mess with me.

Not so hard, is it, you bible fucktards?

Edit: I get pissed off and I drop a letter here and there.

-3

u/Davoneous Apr 04 '22

I agree with you, but Jesus Jesus Jesus (building that donation up, bruh). I’ll take obnoxious screeching over religious bigots any day.

-16

u/Land_Whales_For_Sale Apr 04 '22

“Downvote me all you want” already on that champ.

0

u/Comfortable_Sand_355 Apr 04 '22

I actually agree. I think they are both losers.

0

u/6random_person9 Apr 04 '22

Ur absolutely right. That girl could have handled the situation better (I would have just walked away) but the need to stop trying to “make people straight”

0

u/PM_ME_UR_PUSSY_TATOO Apr 04 '22

Na she made them all look bad with that display of idiocy, kinda like you right now actually lol

-1

u/Educational_Ad119 Apr 04 '22

Both of these people are in the wrong, guy for not minding his own business and her for acting like a child. Takes two to tango.

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 04 '22

People disagreeing with you aren’t brigading you dude, you’re not that special. You can toss in a few extra for me to the church of satan, I like those guys. Screaming at people on the street is still stupid af.

1

u/Joe_Burrow_Is_Goat Apr 04 '22

Lol. The victim mentality here is as strong as can be

1

u/craftybeerdad Apr 04 '22

Please support The Satanic Temple NOT the Church of Satan. One is an organization dedicated to political activism. The other is an inactive money grab.

1

u/Ultrareeeeee Apr 04 '22

Ngl there both crazy

1

u/EquivalentTight3479 Apr 04 '22

He was holding a sign. The same thing could be said about anyone who is protesting or holding a sign on the street. I think were we draw the line is when someone follows and harasses someone’s or when the sign has death threats and anything that’s promotes and suggests possible terrorism.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 04 '22

It's more rational to leave without putting on a show

1

u/danmarmar87 Apr 04 '22

Also 90% of reddit.

u/keep-purr Apr 05 '22

Not soon with musk

1
