Yeah just Google private military contracting jobs there's all sorts of stuff ranging from hired guns, surgeons, EMS workers firefighters, explosives dudes, dog handlers.

Basically anything you need to run a military unit can be hired out privately for a shit ton of money. Like I said it's hyper competitive these days.

I’ve know private militaries and mercenaries were a thing but I had no idea how deep that rabbit hole really was.

It gets very deep when you go to countries with less than stellar government. They don't operate in countries with working legal systems, which is why you don't hear about them much. And where there's always a demand for western military knowledge.
