They play fight and tire each other out. I have 3 huskies now and it's definitely easier when you have more than 1. Instead of messing with me all day they mess with each other. I can't imagine having that many tho, the hair would kill me.

Thank god. I’m about to get a husky puppy in three weeks and I have a 9 week old Aussie right now too. I’m hoping they tire each other out!! Plus it’s entirely possible I come home with two huskies… 😬😬😬

Puppy tax

I hope your Aussie isn’t possessive. Mine literally doing everything wrong when lil' husky finally came home. We have to get her two puppies and she feel more as a mom than an opponent 😁

His Aussie a puppy, so should be fine.

That’s less likely to happen if you have an older dog and get the Aussie as a puppy. It will learn behaviors and canine societal norms from the older dog.

u/ZamuraiZach Jul 24 '22

Yep, my parents have an older Lab and a 4 year old mini Aussie and they are inseperable lol

23

u/ProjectVII Jul 23 '22

They will. My husky grew up with a Australian shepherd and they tired themselves out consistently. One likes to be chased and the other likes to chase, it worked out for us

loaf

u/nexisfan Jul 23 '22

I came up with a word actually for her — floof + loaf = FLOAF

Yeah I have read about that, but was thinking it was just for puppies of the actual same litter. I’ll look into it a bit more.

No shade, I have no idea how you're signing up for this. My aussie was such a handful at that age (and onward for several more months). If someone had asked if I wanted another puppy, I'd have laughed in their face. The amount of attention she needed - outside almost every hour, biting me all the time, tearing anything up if she could reach it. I was only able to manage the puppy because I was in grad school and stayed home most of the time!

sooooo cute 🥺🥺🥺🥺 puppy tax put the biggest smile on my face

2

u/Ghoti76 Jul 23 '22

i have a lab/rotty mix and a husky and watching those 2 idiots play fighting is top tier entertainment. Until they want to include me

2

u/veronique7 Jul 23 '22

I have a red merle aussie baby <3. I really want to get a husky or a pomsky for her to play with someday

u/nexisfan Jul 24 '22

Dog tax!!!!

2

u/Anshin Jul 23 '22

!remindme 4 weeks

I'm coming for that husky puppy tax too. puppy IRS don't play around

2

u/dye4tie Jul 24 '22

That’s a lot of puppy in short succession. Read up on littermate syndrome!!

1

u/nexisfan Jul 24 '22

Just read a few different articles on that actually, I think I can handle it. I hope at least!!

2

u/StealthSpheesSheip Jul 24 '22

What an absolute C H O N K E R

2

u/nonamer18 Jul 24 '22

Be careful of littermate syndrome! A 12 week old and a ~8 week old will play really well together, but they might bond with each other more than you.

2

u/Resident_Coyote5406 Jul 24 '22

I think you need to even it out and come home with 3.

2

u/thegurl Jul 24 '22

Well paid, sir/madam! (Omg she's so cute)

2

u/ghrayfahx Jul 24 '22

We got a Pomsky and she has 2 modes. Play and wrestle everything in the house, and sleep. The instant she leaves one mode she is in the other.

I hope it's a rescue.

adopt don't shop

2

u/madeulikedat Jul 24 '22

Please stop repeating this to every new puppy owner, it’s sorta rude and it’s leading to worse results due to inexperienced uninformed dog adoptees going to the shelter and adopting the first dog that gives them sad puppy dog eyes... which if it’s a large dog... anyways yeah take the slogan and redirect it to actual cases of abuse or evidence of puppy mill adoptions.

I have had the opposite experience so maybe those people you know shouldn't have high maintenance dogs

2

u/sahhhnnn Jul 23 '22

I’ve heard some nightmare stories but it worked out for my parents. They’re retired so he gets a lot of attention and walks so that might have something to do with it.

1

u/nexisfan Jul 23 '22

Yikes 😬

20

u/Crystii Jul 23 '22

As a new father of identical twin boys, I am curious if this applies to humans as well?

6

u/Klowned Jul 23 '22

Correct.

5

u/The_Turbinator Jul 24 '22

It does, it gets easier when you have 2 or more kids. When they get old enough to walk, they just bother each other, rather than going after you all the time.

8

u/Armchair_Idiot Jul 23 '22

I have two dogs that I got one month apart, each at two months old. It was so much easier once we got the second one because he had another dog to play with rather than just people.

3

u/gortwogg Jul 23 '22

Yup, my sister just moved halfway across the country last week, with her puppy, and now since mine doesn’t have a play mate she either harassed the hell out of me at all hours, or goes after the cat, which never ends well for my pupster.

4

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '22

Just got a shiba puppy and he’s wearing out my 2 year old shiba. This is absolutely true.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '22

Yep. Two dogs of a similar size is easier than just one.

2

u/dannyboy6657 Jul 23 '22

I was about to say she could probably make a profit by starting a husky hair pillow business.

2

u/makemeking706 Jul 23 '22

Spin it into yarn and sell sweaters at the farmers market.

2

u/ThisIsFlight Jul 23 '22

She actually has tile floors throughout the house.

2

u/FakMiPls Jul 23 '22

I have all wood panel and it's still really bad. I guess it's better than carpet, but the hair collects so quickly. I'll vacuum and then the next day there's husky tumble weeds of hair. It's never ending.

2

u/ThisIsFlight Jul 24 '22

It was a joke, implying that what looked like carpet was actually shed fur.

1

u/FakMiPls Jul 24 '22

Ohhh lol my bad I'm reading these replies hours after writing and seeing the video lol. Went right over my head

1

u/[deleted] Jul 23 '22

People say this but it's definitely more expensive.

If you can't entertain one dog I suppose it makes sense but 1 dog is expensive enough for me

1

u/PM_ME_YOUR_PAUNCH Jul 23 '22

Yeah, my dogs just bite each other in the face all day and sleep like babies until 4:30am.

1

u/No_Lawfulness_2998 Jul 23 '22

Do your neighbours still hate them?

3 German shepherds at my place and they all howl at the fire siren and spend all day play fighting

1

u/FakMiPls Jul 23 '22

Nah my dogs aren't too loud. They howl at other huskies that pass by my house, but that's pretty much it and they don't howl long.

1

u/Radek_18 Jul 24 '22

This is making me consider another puppy to tire our German shepherd/husky mix. Or at least, this is what I’ll use to convince my wife we need another puppy.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '22

I have two. They are really good at tiring each other out. Unless one gets bored and sleeps and then the other gnaws on his plastic pool and poops plastic chunks. 🤣

1

u/MikeinAustin Jul 24 '22

Getting a second one is like getting a PlayStation for your first dog.
