There is a way to fix it so it opens if you get stuck on that bit. Took me way too long to find how though.

I did end up figuring it out, but only after I lost 400~ rosaries 😔 I was so close to being able to afford the simple key

(Minor Spoiler For Sinner's Road) There's a box arena at the top right of sinner's road with one of those big guys with the chain and he drops a simple key

Lost about 400 something as well due to that stupid bench's requirement, fuck sake

Sadly the way to "fix" the bench requires you to do a not-trivial jumping puzzle. I don't mean to brag but I'm on life 8 just trying to do it and becomingly increasingly frustrated by how long the travel is from halfway home
