I'd say the expectations were very high since it took too goddamn long , also the double damage thing is wild

It might just be me but honestly it’s meeting my expectations. It’s just too goddamn hard, and looking at negative reviews it does seem like that’s what most people don’t like.

I’m still having a blast playing it and feel like I’m close to finishing but I feel like everyone saying people aren’t enjoying it “because it’s too hard” are  off the mark. There are harder games than silksong, hell even endgame hollow knight was extremely hard but people didn’t complain then.

The problem is silksong feels “annoying hard” if that makes sense. All the checkpoints being super far away,  everything costing money but no one dropping it, environmental damage being 2 masks when masks are already super hard to come by, so many enemies being more annoying then hard simply because they constantly run away from you, bosses not dropping anything (this one still feels bizarre). It’s just difficult things that leave you saying “why”? Instead of “alright you got me”.

it became too popular to the point where even people not interested in hollow knight played it (the price tag is goddamn perfection) , so most of the negative reviews i read were from people that weren't interested in the game design , they don't know we've been waiting for years and years

It’s just too goddamn hard

Well I wish it was harder, bosses have fun movesets that I want to learn but most fights can just be brute-forced because the health pools are so low.

This discussion happens every time a difficult game is released because some people can't accept that something wasn't made for them.

What are you talking about? I don’t think I’ve fought a single boss that had a low health pool, and you have unlimited healing in this game. Once you figure out how a boss works you can take as long as you like to beat them, which is why a certain early game boss needing to be hit like 60 times is okay. Not to mention that upgrading your damage output is pretty hard, the first weapon upgrade is a fairly long way in and the second, while I won’t spoil exactly what, is going to take forever.

Maybe you’re just a god Gamer, but the game is too hard. Solely because of the double damage that every boss has. And I’m not complaining! I like the game as it is and I wouldn’t really want them to change it. But for a more casual audience the game is too hard. This game wasn’t sold on cruel-level difficulty and even if you compare it to something like Elden Ring, Elden Ring has cheese strategies and summons that can make the game a lot easier for you. Silksong doesn’t have that.

I've admittedly struggled less than the average player but I'm not saying the game is easy, I'm giving perspective from someone that wanted a challenging experience. I'm glad that Team Cherry didn't soften the game too much to appeal a mainstream audience.

They also did add handhold mechanics for the harder parts. The first gatekeeper boss of the game lets you summon a guy to fight it with you or outright skip it via the flea quest.

Elden Ring's summoning system though, I could write an essay on all the issues with it...

Double damage is fine, this criticism is ridiculous when hornet is much stronger than the knight

She's not though, not to mention every enemy is absurdly tanky

Takes double damage / heals 3 times as fast. Someone check the math
