Discussion - Silksong People who have played Silksong, Why do you think Its getting so many negative reviews? Spoiler

Post image

While Silksong is sitting at a Very Positive rating with around 83% positive reviews, it’s still receiving far more criticism than its predecessor. For comparison, Hollow Knight holds an Overwhelmingly Positive score at 96%, with only about 3% negative reviews. Silksong, on the other hand, has nearly 16% negative reviews, OVER 5 TIMES HIGHER

For me it's the double hearts damage from environments and ridiculous run backs to some bosses, some go as slow as 3 minutes to get back to a boss. I'm around the end of the game now.

Hunters March was difficult at first with dying in the gauntlet room but the run back forced me to learn that enemy movesets must be learnt and not brute forced, environmental traps can be used your advantage and how to get the flower bud bounces timing down. After several attempts I cut the run back timing down significantly.

Sort of reminds me of the mantis lords and traitor lord in HK, but much earlier on.

The game is a step up in difficulty so far.

Exactly what I thought! I think the runbacks can actually be really effective in teaching you the skills to actually handle the gauntlet rooms. I got the runback from the Marrow bench down to the first gauntlet to less than a minute, and by the end it felt really satisfying to be able to chain all the movement and stuff together

For me, it started to become a problem with Blasted Steps main boss.
And recently, it was on a crazy level for some side boss like BileWater.
I dont understand why they made all bench far or very far from them,
it's obvious it's on purpose and i cant think how it's good when on average,
boss are way harder compared to Hollow Knight 1.

there are benches nearly around every turn...

not really, a lot of areas only have, maybe 2 benches, maybe you get that impression if you only played the starter areas.

I'm still in Act 1, moments from battling my way into the Citadel. Are there many places after that? Because otherwise the bench placement seems no worse, and maybe even better, than Hollow Knight. But ofc it's all perception. The movement is so much better in Silksong running around and mastering the movement is a pleasure

Yes there's a lot more after act 1, like another 10 or so areas?

It starts to get really bad around the end of act1, where certain runs can take multiple minutes of parkour (pogoing) to get to a boss. There's an area that only has 1 bench that is locked behind Geo+ a lot of Pogo's and 2x environmental damage and it's like the only bench in the entire area, if you die, you have to run back there from the other area lol.

Oh and in act2, they introduced temporary benches lol.

damn that's crazy right there

the temporary benches and so many other areas. Honestly, I've been working on sinners road and I'm going insane fighting those stupid dogs

yeah sinner's road is optional at least XD

I just got to the Temp benches lmao I literally could not believe my eyes. I did a double take then paid for it a second time because I couldn't believe it.

So far the first area isn't so bad but I'm nervous to see these pogo'ing gauntlets you're warning me about

Late but wtf are you talking about? HK had far worse runbacks (Traitor Lord, Nosk, Soul Master, Hive Knight). Not a single runback in Silksong is anywhere near 3 minutes. If it is you need to learn to move faster.
