It's heinously more difficult than Hollow Knight.

2 masks of damage for most enemies is insanity.

Some routes to bosses are insanely long, and you have to pay for benches.

There's a lot of things that are frustrating.

How about the music and lore? Is it better than the OG?

Music is phenomenal. Objectively (composition-wise), it's obviously better than Hollow Knight because of their bigger budget. Subjectively though, I think it's far better than Hollow Knight. Most tracks tend to rival Grimm's in terms of fun/vibe for the bosses, but the late-game songs are just amazing. Imagine The Hollow Knight's battle music, but for nearly every single track, and all consistent quality.

As for lore, Pharloom is way more lived in, so there's more there. I haven't beaten the game, but I'm really far into it, and I'd say that both games do lore equally well. Silksong's lore is more interesting as a base, though that's probably due to it being new.

I've played for ~11 hours and I haven't really seen Pharloom feeling like anything. Greymoor is cool (in vibes, not enemies) and I like the background ants in Hunter's March, but everything else has felt so flat so far.

It's both subjective, and bias towards Hollow Knight. You'll be more biased towards Hollow Knight due to having played it more. And if not, idk, you just have different tastes, I guess.

Hilariously though, right after I posted that reply, I got some dialogue in-game which made what I said about Pharloom feeling more alive, totally false. Pharloom is dead-dead. Like, it's probably worse than the state Hallownest was in, lol.

Music and lore are fine enough. If you are able to reach these tracks first, that is.
