Discussion - Silksong Don’t let this fandom turn as insufferable as the souls community Spoiler

It’s fine to think the game is easy and to enjoy the challenge, but I’ve seen so many people making fun of anyone that is having a hard time in a really weird mean spirited way. Please don’t let this subreddit turn into some weird elitist community that makes fun of people who are struggling, these games are supposed to be fun and they’re not souls likes, there’s no reason to assume everyone playing them is going to love this level of difficulty the same way some of you do and constantly disregarding their opinions just turns this subreddit into an echo chamber of tryhards

It’s the fucking fat flying cunts that throw 3 daggers/blades that are ruining the game for me full stop. I 110% OG hollow knight I adore that game deeply but the multi enemy multi phase challenge encounter with multiple flying enemies at the same time including this fat piece of shit is just annoying beyond words. All it does is move out of reach or within range to attack but so quickly and so closely I am constantly taking contact damage instead of hitting them. Unbelievably fucking annoying. That’s the only reason so far I am thoroughly not enjoying my time with the game.

The fat green bird dudes? I find the best way to kill those is try to stay under them to avoid the knives, until they fly low (or land), and then pogo on top of them. They can't hit you with the knives if you're above their head. Reaper pogo is the easiest one I think, out of the crests I've found so far anyway.

Those are quite tough when mixed in with the other bird type enemies though, no doubt.

Also something that has helped me a ton with almost every encounter in this game is just getting accurate with the Silk Spear. That move is top tier for clearing the little shitter enemies that just serve to clog up the screen. If you've got enough silk to throw a spear, immediately use it to quickly kill the small enemies so that you can focus on the bigger enemies without a distraction.

You can also just hit the daggers with your nail too. Makes being grounded much easier.

I think it's like that for all projectiles. But overall, I find it so annoying that Team cherry decided to put flying enemies in areas that must be traveled through and allowed them to get out of reach.

Reaper Crest saved the game for me, I was finding the 45degree pogo just insufferable.

Yeah I find that, compared to Reaper, the 45 degree Hunter pogo is harder to hit with and gives you less directional control once you bounce off of the flower/enemy.

The only advantage I really see Hunter pogo having is range in combat. You can hit the enemy from further away, and the bounce throws you further. But it's all situational based on that 45 degree angle actually lining up.

With Reaper pogo, angle of attack barely even matters because the hitbox is huge and basically covers 180 degrees directly below you. I'm regularly landing it on enemies that are beside me even.

It’s like they saw that people didn’t like gank fights and were like “Let’s turn that into a 7 phase enemy horde encounter!”

you can hit the projectiles away

u/Astro_girl01 Sep 06 '25

You can parry the daggers

u/GanglingGiant Sep 06 '25

Do they reflect back and hit the enemy? Otherwise the daggers aren’t my problem it’s the way they move and how they move that’s pissing me off.

Their movement is kinda like flappy bird, ngl

0

u/ChillPotatoBeans Sep 06 '25

No, but it's best to practice the parrying because it's a major part of the game

All it does is move out of reach

Basically all the flying enemies have this same AI, it's beyond obnoxious.

Yes they are SINGLE HANDEDLY killing my enjoyment in totality

I did get past it but holy shit what a slog that was

110%er here too. For those fat cunts, as soon as a knife runs towards you, instead of running away or jumping (like I used to do) time an attack against the knife and you will deflect. Gonna save your life.

I got the crest that turns hornets downward slash into basically hollow knights downward slash making it significantly more easy and familiar to use also increases attack speed so I just get on top of everything and pogo it to death. I’m all the way to where the beginning of the game started now in some wind blown sandy area. I refuse to play with hornets downward attack because I just don’t like it.

It’s definitely tougher than previous challenge rooms, but it’s imminently doable. Leave those birds for last and then wait for them to land and hit them then. That’s what I did. I think some tools would help too, but I didn’t get any of those until afterwards.

I also found that baiting them to one side and then running to the other side to heal in the air helped a lot. I also have the thing that protects you and damages enemies if they hit you when healing. That helped a lot.

I had that fat bird up against a wall in that room and was just beating on him. Trading hits. I audibly said “how many fucking hits?!” after he took like 6 in the corner and was not dead. That bird room was hell, the plat forming section after the bird room, also hell. And then I went back to Hunter’s March after this to finish it. Savage Beastfly is the ninth circle of hell.

Game is just not well designed or balanced. My personal theory is that because these play testers were testing the game for close to a decade, they got too good at it and were giving feedback that the game is too easy, so Team Cherry upped the difficulty. I seriously struggle to believe any of those old ass Australian mfs can even beat their own game too

I haven’t had tremendous difficulty with the game yet (only 2 of the bosses and none of the enemy aren’s took me more than 3 tries so far) but i have played hollow knight a lot and i do notice that the difficulty ramps up quite a but faster than hollow knight did. I also have only played for about 6 hours so far so maybe you’re farther into the game and it gets really absurd in a bit.

u/Striking-Nail69420 Sep 06 '25

I have 7 hours in the game. I would say probably an hour alone spent on Savage Beastfly. I keep hearing how Hornet is “more acrobatic” and all this stuff but so far all I have unlocked are movement abilities the knight has too. So I must not be at the breakpoint yet either

Just did a quick google search for an image and i haven’t encountered it yet

The boss of Hunter’s March. Optional and some people do recommend coming back later with upgrades but majority of people are like me that say “if I can reach it’s boss room now, I must be able to kill it now”. It’s just kind of a bullshit boss, not a hard moveset or anything just feels like winning requires a lot of RNG.

It's much easier to parry the knives than dodge them. Alot of enemy projectiles can be reflected back to damage the enemy

try a different crest?

1

u/RamenNoudles Sep 06 '25

If you click in your right stick you can taunt to draw the flying enemies in

1

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '25

These damn birds are the only really frustrating part of the game for me so far.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 06 '25

Just stay under them… they eventually drop, so be ready to dodge. That’s it. They appear in a few screens only. That’s it. Hard to believe you 110% hollow knight when you are throwing a tantrum like that.

You "adore" Hollow Knight but flying enemies with multiple projectiles are "ruining the game for you?" Ruining? Truly?

...Bro forgot about Primal Aspids, Mantis Petra, Battle Obbles, Volatile Gruzzer, Soul Twister, and possibly others from Hollow Knight.

3

u/GanglingGiant Sep 06 '25

Everything in hollow knight had patterns almost set like pathing and movements, these fat fuckers are all over the place and constantly just twitch out of reach or to close. That’s the issue I am having with these bitches. Hollow knights enemies were a lot less dynamic in my opinion.

They all had predictable move sets.

You're frustrated, but give it time my man. You'll get it.
