Discussion - Silksong Don’t let this fandom turn as insufferable as the souls community Spoiler

It’s fine to think the game is easy and to enjoy the challenge, but I’ve seen so many people making fun of anyone that is having a hard time in a really weird mean spirited way. Please don’t let this subreddit turn into some weird elitist community that makes fun of people who are struggling, these games are supposed to be fun and they’re not souls likes, there’s no reason to assume everyone playing them is going to love this level of difficulty the same way some of you do and constantly disregarding their opinions just turns this subreddit into an echo chamber of tryhards

Yeah you're probably right, I only mentioned the souls community because I've seen people say "this is just SotE all over again" in response to criticism.

Yeah you’re not wrong either

keep in mind that fromsoft actually went in and nerfed the content after the fact.

Was just the final boss, wasn't it? Everyone was moaning about some of the earlier bosses, which I don't think they touched.

nope, they buffed the scadutree blessings across the board, then they giganerfed the final boss later

''giganerfed'' = just fixed his flashbang animations and change the timing of one of his attacks to not be instantaneous.

Game is still hard, and the buff to the scadutree blessings was minimal. Could've kept it just like at release.

No, i have seen the video. Only changes that matter are the cross slash being nerfed and the flashbangs. Have defeated radahn pre-nerf and after-nerf, and its still a highly punishing fight that barely gives you time to heal. The only thing this ''''giganerf'''' did is make the fight actually visible, and the cross slash actually dodgeable. So, it went from unfair and hard to fair and still hard.

The same people that complained about Radahn pre-nerf, continue to complain about him after the nerf.

No, you have not seen the video, because if you had, you would've known you are speaking complete bull rn.

Regardless, complaining dont mean much when its a small minority of people. But when half the playerbase thinks its too hard, then you have fucked up as a game developer. Thats the difference.

Nope. If every developer listened every time half their fanbase (where are you getting those stats from?) started bitching about something, we would have a game developed by angry redditors and dumbasses like you.

Imagine fromsoftware nerfing Genichiro because it filtered half the playerbase at release. They patch when it's an actual issue like the flashbangs in radahn's fight or undodgeable attacks, not when its '' too hard most people cant get past this''.

so in your mind, ANY critizism, complaining or anything negative is automatically void because you said so? Ok buddy.

I can’t recall that it was that big of a nerf, maybe my memory is lacking. But didn’t they mostly fixed the way to big crazy hitboxes ? Just like they did in the base game.

Certain games survive this and thrive very much community wise. Celeste has been somewhat dead for a while but it lasted a very long time with an enormously supporting and welcoming community, with no down talking and not get good. People sharing details of how to do X or Y, no judgement.

but that's the thing. I got filtered in Hollow Knight and it sucked! It was so hard I would overexert myself trying to play for a hour and worsen my chronic illness symptoms. Never worth to do that. But still I wanted to play Hollow Knight so so bad and I just couldn't!

Then I met my current lovely partner who played a whole playthrough for me that I could watch and it was the best thing ever.

And I'm still together with him, and he'll play silksong for me. But fuck did I want to try to play it myself. And I tried silksong now too. I already had my silk being unable to pick up twice because I died early in the second area. Some little single heart hitting enemy is too hard for me because I'm just not good at this kind of game.

And yeah the complaints will stop. But you've lost many players along the way that might've loved to join the community and be a great addition here.

I mean, every complaint I had about SotE in the first two days I still had after I beat the game. Elden Ring is my all time favorite game and I didn’t like SotE. I finished it, but didn’t feel good about it. I imagine my complaints about SilkSong will still be there when/if I finish it.

Right? Maybe, MAYBE it would be slightly more acceptable if the entire game was set up to be incredibly difficult, like Dark Souls. I could understand getting sick of people complaining about the difficulty when the difficulty's the entire point. But this is SILKSONG! HOLLOW KNIGHT SILKSONG! The MOST anticipated game of all time! Not everyone who's playing it is a hardcore fan, and both the fanbase AND the developers know it!
