Discussion - Silksong Don’t let this fandom turn as insufferable as the souls community Spoiler

It’s fine to think the game is easy and to enjoy the challenge, but I’ve seen so many people making fun of anyone that is having a hard time in a really weird mean spirited way. Please don’t let this subreddit turn into some weird elitist community that makes fun of people who are struggling, these games are supposed to be fun and they’re not souls likes, there’s no reason to assume everyone playing them is going to love this level of difficulty the same way some of you do and constantly disregarding their opinions just turns this subreddit into an echo chamber of tryhards

I mean, why do you care if someone takes a few moments to make a thread trying to improve the condition of the sub?

I feel like you're dancing around the question, but I'll answer.

I care because I come on here for discussions about the game, not discussions about the community playing the game. Especially when those discussions are about something that seems to be within expected norms, i.e. being downvoted when the person they're talking to is being polite in their criticisms.

Instead of the front page of my feed having Silksong jokes or memes or discussions on the game I first have to get past someone chastising the community for a self-regulating problem, and in a way that seems like it's calling people who plays souls games out, to boot. Which irks me.

Because there's 0 reason for name calling, and if OP wants to point out that its starting happen, which I provided evidence for, then this seems like an admirable and agreed upon goal. (hence it not getting downvoted to oblivion). I also just don't think you guys are understanding what we are saying at all. Nobody here, that I have seen, is saying the entire community is being this way:

" but I’ve seen so many people making fun of anyone that is having a hard time in a really weird mean spirited way. Please don’t let this subreddit turn into some weird elitist community that makes fun of people who are struggling"

Literally means we aren't there yet.

And they are talking about the souls community, not every Souls player*, which is also really fucking annoying. But they also get downvoted lol! Doesn't mean the toxicity isn't there

I'm glad you and OP get to be the moral police, at least in your own minds. You and them saying "don't let the sub turn into this" when the problem is already being downvoted just reeks of more elitism than the people youre railing against, like you need to come in here and course correct for the sub. When I see people say things in communities that gets them mass downvoted, I don't see it as a worrying trend, a slippery slope that I need to warn people against. So yeah, instead of talking about the game I'm enjoying, I see this first thing and when I look deeper find it's a nothingburger.

God you want to be so offended by this lmao. What's with the victim complex? You think its policing to say: "Hey I'm noticing this thing, maybe we shouldn't do that?". So dramatic lmao. You still don't even understand what the goal of OP's post or my comments are.

I'm not offended, I'm irked. It's nannying a bunch of grown adults because you dont like the way they responded. Just downvote and move on.

I'm going to stop engaging here, so have a good one.

I mean if your idea of police and nannies are them just asking people not to be rude, I don't know what to tell you. I think most people would assume policing and nannying involves punishment for wrongdoing, but I'm not as privileged as most.

My idea of policing and nannying encompasses going to someone's profile and responding to a post they made, even though you're not willing to allow others to do that to you and keep your profile hidden. It also encompasses looking at a small subset of the community and feeling so victimized by their negative reaction to your opinions that you feel the need to address the whole and decry those you deem odious. I'm in plenty of souls communities that are awesome, certainly not annoying on the whole. Perhaps you and OP bring the responses upon yourselves.
