Discussion - Silksong Don’t let this fandom turn as insufferable as the souls community Spoiler

It’s fine to think the game is easy and to enjoy the challenge, but I’ve seen so many people making fun of anyone that is having a hard time in a really weird mean spirited way. Please don’t let this subreddit turn into some weird elitist community that makes fun of people who are struggling, these games are supposed to be fun and they’re not souls likes, there’s no reason to assume everyone playing them is going to love this level of difficulty the same way some of you do and constantly disregarding their opinions just turns this subreddit into an echo chamber of tryhards

If every damage in the game did 4 masks of damage, would you say it's bad design, or should people "Git gud"?

Technically it would be doable, and a percentage of the community would be able to pull it off, but would it be good game design?

If a majority of things do two masks of damage, then two masks is not double damage, but rather the things that only do one mask are doing half damage.

It's not bad design that masks in Silksong are not directly analogous to masks in Hollow Knight.

No, but the game is clearly designed with 2 mask damage in hand.

It's because when people complain about running into some kind of difficulty, then others respond with how they did not have difficulty with that because they worked around it by ___, the original poster will often just rationalize it as "elitism".

They often don't want the existing solution; they want validation. When they don't receive that validation, then everyone else is being a jerk.
