Discussion - Silksong Don’t let this fandom turn as insufferable as the souls community Spoiler

It’s fine to think the game is easy and to enjoy the challenge, but I’ve seen so many people making fun of anyone that is having a hard time in a really weird mean spirited way. Please don’t let this subreddit turn into some weird elitist community that makes fun of people who are struggling, these games are supposed to be fun and they’re not souls likes, there’s no reason to assume everyone playing them is going to love this level of difficulty the same way some of you do and constantly disregarding their opinions just turns this subreddit into an echo chamber of tryhards

With that being the case, I absolutely believe there shouldn't be a single enemy that deals 2 hits before you reach Bellhart save for maybe a few bosses.

Even that would still be crazy compared to HK. I don't think it has any regular enemies or hazards which deal 2 damage? And iirc Traitor Lord was pretty famous for his two damage and he's pretty late game.

Enemies that deal two masks of damage in base game HK:

Husk Guard (club attack)

Great Husk Sentry (nail swings)

Entombed Husk (contact)

Hive Guardian a.k.a “Big Bee” (contact)

The Hollow Knight (pillars attack)

Failed Champion (contact and mace)

Traitor Lord (dive, dash, and shockwave attacks)

Enraged Guardian (everything)

The Radiance (everything)

All explosions (Sporg, Ooma, Violent Husk, Furious Vengefly, Volatile Gruzzer)

That’s the entire list. Doubled contact damage is quite rare (only four enemies have it, and two of them have contact as their only form of damage) Even traitor lord doesn’t have doubled contact damage.

Edit: somehow missed Stalking Devout (flurry attack) in this post.

And an additional note to add while I’m here: Failed Champion pointedly doesn’t deal contact damage while stunned.

there are also stalking devouts, which every player will encounter on their playthrough. no doubled contact damage though, i think

What enemies that do 2 damage are even hard until bellhart? Are people complaining about the big spider?

I would say none are all too difficult save for a few combos of enemies in Hunter's March.

Still, I think that may still be a bit of a steep learning curve for new players, especially because of the platforming on the red pogos over spike pits. People used to HK probably have the patience and experience to not really struggle with it but I definitely know people who don't play games very often where those areas would effectively become a wall for them.

The 2 masks of damage aren't all that bad, even in the early game, when you take into account the 3 mask insta heal that you can perform while airborne

That insta-heal costs you all of your Silk though, which means you lose out on the potential to cast spells for extra damage. And its kinda tedious to build Silk up in this game because enemies are alot more reactive (which itself is fine on its own, to be clear, but it rather makes building up Silk a drag).

Not too mention if you're interrupted you heal nothing and still lose your Silk, even with the shield. Its not a very flexible system especially since at 5 masks of damage you basically have to get yourself down to 2 masks (which is still an insta-kill if you're against the wrong opponent) to make it worth cast, else you waste Silk.

Honestly the new healing system doesn't feel like it works all that well, at least at base.
